I haven't even finished reading this book and I can already rate it. I've never had a book keep me from reading for days. This book has kept me from reading. I haven't read in days because I'm pouting about finishing this one. I will say this though - it's all about what you're into. If you want sex with no ties to the characters whatsoever, then this book may work for you. If you don't care about schematics, then this book may work for you. This may be the first book I have ever not finished in my life. I feel so strongly about this I'm actually wondering if I should delete this "review" until I calm down. However, it has been days since I last read a page from this story and I am yet to calm down. So many problems with this one.
I'm torn with this book, there were some aspects I absolutely loved and other bits I really hated that had me thinking "WTF?".
You do have to suspend your thinking at some parts, which annoyed me.
At the backbone of this book there was an excellent story that could have been fleshed out more.
I know it is an 'erotica' book, but I did find myself fast-forwarding those scenes (because there were alot). Which was surprising because I read it purposefully because it was erotica, but I found myself wanting more of the actual story.
One of the bits that really bugged me was when they have anal then she gives him a BJ immediately! Really? Ewwwwwwwww. He didn't even give himself a token clean, that's just rude and inconsiderate. Another thing, they have sex a number of times in the limo and they stand up during it, how can you stand up in a limo?
I liked the story but I felt lost. There was no development of the characters they were just there & all of a sudden they were well ya know. This story had great potential & I am not sure why the Author didn't feel more compelled to drawn readers in & working up to what happened. Although I did enjoy the read I was able to put this book down & come back to it several times which is ok for most but I like to be drawn in & feel as if I can actually see the events happening. To the Author if you read this Please understand its just my opinion Keep writing.
While this was a quick and easy read, it almost felt like a too-good-to-be-true story.
We learned absolutely nothing about Samantha's parents when obviously something happened to them.
The relationship went from employer/employee to engaged in like a microsecond. Yes, some crazy shit happened in between, but it happwnwd too fast for my liking.
I would alao have liked to see them grow as a couple and to have seen how Alex saved and turned around his company.
I had high hopes for this book. It sounded good and when I first started to read it was but then it became a struggle. Samantha has a good head on her shoulders. She’s a temp working at Strauss Engines and while having lunch with her friend she speaks her mind about the CEO Alexander Strauss. Of course he has to be behind her when she expressed her opinion about the man.
She goes from working as a temp to being his personal assistant to help him with the biggest deal of the company and that’s when it starts going down from there. That whole part was rushed. She was kidnapped and Alex is the one to lead the search and rescue. They profuse their love for one another and together they piece who is behind it all and take down his father’s long time best friend. I almost didn’t want to finish this book but kept thinking that it was going to get better but it didn’t, at least not for me.
At first, I thought I was getting a 50 Shades-esque book. For about 9 pages I thought I did, but then WHOA hold up! There was too much 'similarity' as to the super rich CEO & 'temp' who is promoted to P.A. and all of sudden handling major company deals for this CEO. Um...he's known her about 3 days or so and he's shipping her off to Japan to negotiate a deal? Ummmm....yah.
Okay, so I just couldn't finish the whole book. I skipped A LOT and when I got to the end, I just didn't care. Unfortunately, for me, this is just not a book that I got into. The characters felt flat, the plot too much like others, and even the fictional base was too far out there for me to believe. I LOVE to escape reality with fiction, BUT it can't go so far (in a contemporary setting) that you are catapulted out of the story because its just too far too fast.
A few other really liked this, so maybe they saw something I didn't.
For me, this is a barely able to get to the final chapter - almost DNF.
I received the ARC of the Billionaire Erotic Romance Boxed set and loved this one. We meet Samantha at her job working for Strauss Engines as a temp. She is overheard by the boss as she calls him an arrogant prick and her tells her to meet him in his office at 4pm. She believes she will be fired but Alexander Strauss has other plans. This story ha lust, intrigue, love, steamy sex and a kidnapping. Will Samantha be able to not fall for Alexander? Can they save his company? This is a great story and will keep you glued to the pages just to find out what happens next. Great job Alana Davis, looking forward to reading more from her.
I choose this book because of the name and I wanted to read an erotic book. Let me just say that this book pops off from the beginning when I say sex and more sex is all I can say. I wish that the characters (Alex and Samantha)could have been developed more and that the storyline had more depth. Some stuff I was reading was out there but I almost could see where she was going. It left me wanting more a lot more. I like how the author would compare Alex to his mother and she went into his relationship with her. It was sweet.
Pleh. The characters were empty, the story unbeliveable (not in a good way) and the sex scenes were just off somehow. Sure, they were hot, but something was missing. Can't point my finger to what exactly it was, but they were just off.
It was mentioned quite early on that it would be a dom/sub-kind of a deal, but there wasn't really any dominance. Sure, he told her once or twice what to do and the girlie had a fixation of getting choked, but that was about it.
A wonderful story that was so steamy and action packed you won't be able to put it down. Loved both Alex and Samantha, they were both strong and lovable characters. It was very well written and definitely something I would recommend.
This book did not do it for me. Plot totally unbelievable and the writing amateurish. This was a kindle freebie which is a saving grace. The sex scenes steamy but plot laughable in its entirety, even fairytales are more realistic.
The relationship developed between Alex and Sam was very fast. Alex threw her in the deep end and she never faulted. It was good to see that Henderson never won with all his scheming. I loved the ending and epilogue was good as well.
2.5* Not really original, but not blatantly copied. At least their relationship progresses pretty normal, no show of I love yous right from the start. Yet it kind of misses that special "Je ne sais quoi" to make it really likable.
