An ex is an ex for a reason

To Rebecca Winters, it’s not just a saying or the title to a catchy tune, it’s a rule she staunchly lives by. Especially since the break up with her ex. What’s the point in trying to fix the “unfixable”? Besides, only a girl hell-bent on more heartbreak would go back to the guy who bailed on her when she needed him most. But saying no to Scott is becoming more difficult than surviving the breakup itself. And unfortunately for her, the kind of pressure he's exerting is making her rule all too easy to break.

Scott Carver has given up trying to get over his ex. He’s still in love with her and their year apart has done nothing to change that. Yeah, he knows he screwed up. Just how royally, he wasn't aware of until now. So when Becca agrees to give him a second chance, he grabs on to it with both hands. But it’s clear the only way things will ever truly be right between them is if he comes clean…about everything. He can only pray the truth doesn’t send her running—for good this time.

The author graciously gifted me a copy. This is a genuine review.

Holy hotness. This was a steamaliscious short book/long novella. Like her other books, Kendall did not disappoint. This is a follow-up to WHEN IN PARIS, but can definitely be a stand-alone. Her new adult series is soooo good. I highly recommend this series. I'm guessing Troy and April's story is next?

Although it can be read as a stand-alone, read WHEN IN PARIS anyway. Girl knows how to write...*clears throat* especially the love scenes. Oh. My. God. * fans self*

This was a short and meandering piece, which means that even with less than 150 pages to work with there still wasn’t any amount of focus. The drama is all over the place, and the flow from one problem to the next isn’t always smooth. Problems are solved quickly and without any real payoff, but then a new problem has to step in immediately to fill the tension void, which means we end up hopping around a lot.

I had a hard time deciding if I liked Scott and Becca. At times, they were each despicable, but then they’d turn a 180 in attitude at the drop of a hat. One moment, Scott is trying to finagle and swindle his way into Becca’s pants, completely with intentionally targeting her weaknesses, and then a few pages later he’s all respect and good graces. First he’s stalking her and ignoring her repeated attempts to tell him to fuck off, and then he’s claiming willingness to leave her alone for good. His actions, in short, boiled down to ‘whatever will keep the tension going,’ not anything based in logic or consistent characterization.

Becca had a moment of seriously pissing me off, when she intentionally did the ‘no means yes’ thing. She told him no and then tried to seduce him without verbally rescinding her ‘no’ first. Then she got mad at him for not doing her. I get that people are weird (my god, we are a weird species) and she was conflicted in that ‘no’ in the first place, so her doing that is not what gets to me. What makes me rage is the fact that she got mad at him afterwards. We need to stop sending the message that 1) girls do this regularly and 2) it’s desirable for a guy to think he can read your mind. Grow some brass ovaries, tell the guy what you want, and thank your stars that he had the sense to listen to what you said instead of how you were acting while half-asleep.

I also didn’t buy Becca and Scott’s relationship at all. It was purely physical, and the descriptions of their sexual obsession and lust for each other were so overblown and intense that they came off as exactly that: obsession. I was inclined to think that Becca should go to a doctor and get some tests done, not that she was in love, because oh my. At the very least, a relationship built on the fact that your brain goes numb every time you’re around someone is not going to last.

(And it's "a Senator for/from California," not "the Senator of California." I don't know why that bugs me so much, but it does. Maybe because it's such an easy thing to look up.)

Disclosure: I received this copy from the author. Many thanks to Beverley Kendall for the opportunity. Yes, this is an honest review.

Before college, Rebecca and Scott were an item and what they shared felt very special for the both of them, but something happened that drove them apart and love turned to hate, especially for Becca. While college is seen as a fresh start for most, it turned out to be the continuation of an unfinished story for them -- one that Rebecca would love to avoid but can't. They try valiantly to be civil to one another, for the sake of Zach and Olivia -- but feelings have a way of bubbling to the surface, and neither can contain the overflow.

Those Nights in Montreal is the next installment in Beverley Kendall's new adult endeavor, The Language of Love series. In this e-novella, the spotlight is trained on Rebecca and Scott. There was a lot of venom between Becca and Scott when we first met them in When in Paris and we wondered what had happened to them before they came to college. Beverley Kendall adds further tension to the story by introducing more issues: Becca's relationship with her father and Scott's mysterious family history.

Trust is the central issue in this story: the men in Becca's life have all let her down and abandoned her before and she's finding it hard to trust them again. I loved how the story moved on two levels: as Becca and Scott tried to make sense of their relationship, Becca was also dealing with her father -- a man who abandoned her mother when she was pregnant with Becca.

Scott is a great character as well. He could've shrugged off the past drama and moved forward -- but he came back to Rebecca, admitted the mistakes that he'd made and was willing to work it out with her. I also love that he is unwavering in his love for Becca (and isn't afraid to tell her).

Becca and Scott are both given a second chance at love (and at life) and I'm glad that they were both willing to work it out. They made mistakes and stumble to make the right ones -- and this is what makes them utterly relatable. I read this book in one sitting -- not because it was short but because I really wanted to see how Becca and Scott's relationship turned out.

Rebecca Winters believes an ex is an ex for a reason. If its unfixable, why even bother? But when Scott Carver comes back around asking for another chance, all seems lost and her rule gets closer to being broken.

Scott Carver knows he fucked up, and he'll do anything to get Rebecca back. When she agrees to give him the second chance he asks for, he grabs it without a second thought. But Scott isn't exactly in the clear, he has a few things hidden and he knows he has to tell Rebecca. But will he lose her for good once she knows about his past?

I got this off Amazon for free. I hadn't read the first book, but I jumped into this one right away.

Rebecca was an alright character. She's stubborn and mouthy. I can't deny the fact that I wanted to punch her a lot. There were times where she was just so hypocritical and it pissed me off. And good grief did I want to punch her when she told Scott the real reason they broke up. It's not like he's a fucking mind reader, Becca! Damn.

Scott was okay as well. He didn't really woo me. I guess its just badasses and tattooed hotties for me. But just because I say this, don't overlook this book, he may woo you.

Unfortunately, this wasn't a book that I couldn't put down. It was good though. I just hate that the characters didn't really call to me. I did like how Becca wanted to meet her brother and sister. I like that she didn't hate them just because they were her father's kids.

I think the best thing about this was the struggles with Rebecca and seeing her overcome them. She struggled with trusting Scott and her dad. It was great to see her trust Scott, to open up to him and let him in. It was great to see her open up to her dad, to tell him how she felt after avoiding him for so long, even though she didn't forgive him, it was great to see that.

I'm going to end this by saying that this was a good read and if you haven't read it, give it a go. It's short and it has a happy ending. Enjoy.

An ex is an ex not by chance but for a reason.

Actual rating: 3.5 stars

This is a much longer novella than I expected, but I enjoyed reading about Rebecca and Scott. I liked the dual point of view, so you could hear what each of them were feeling. They're both oh-so-stubborn, so unwilling to do what they both obviously want. Becca took a while to like; she's always sending mixed signals and is a bit childish at times. I like that Scott has a mysterious past that you don't find out about until the end, but I didn't like what the past actually was. It's a bit weird to me, because I don't see how it really fits.

I really liked the theme of second chances. And I'm not just talking about a second chance at Becca and Scott's relationship, but also about a second chance with family. Becca's father left before she was even born, and Becca wants nothing to do with him. She's dislikes him even more after he contacts her for the first time in sixteen years. Now, three years later, Becca's unwilling to talk or meet with him. I love that their relationship improves by the end of the novella. Although she doesn't actually meet him yet, it's implied that they will. And she likes his new family so it's a good start. (:

The writing was okay, but I what I couldn't stand were the typos. And the lack of commas! In some sentences, the missing comma didn't change the meaning of it, but in others, you really really need that comma. And sometimes the author forgets to put the comma before the final quotation mark. It's not a big deal, and I'm pretty sure most people aren't going to notice, but it's really annoying when I read and I find them.

Overall, this is a short and enjoyable read. I liked that this can be read without reading the first book (which is exactly what I did). I look forward to reading about the other characters in this series. (:

**FULL REVIEW**

Not gonna lie, this short read took fooooorrrrreeeevvvveerrrrrrrrrr…….I was honestly a little bored.

It felt more like a rough draft than a final copy, or maybe my tastes have evolved, but either way, I wasn’t super impressed by the characters, the story or the writing.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title…I wish I’d read it sooner, maybe I might’ve enjoyed it more.

I think I'm pretty clear about how I feel about the New Adult/College Romance/Mature YA genre as it seems to be trending. Fortunately, Those Nights in Montreal is definitely not one of those. I think it must help that Beverley Kendall is an established writer who actually knows how to construct a story and bring characters to life in form recognizable to the average non-dysfunctional reader. This is a novella that has more life in it than a lot of the full-length novels that can't hold a plotline or develop rounded characters. I was pleasantly surprised how much the author incorporated into the story without detracting from the romance. Even the length of the story was just right.

Becca and Scott are exes who haven't quite gotten closure. They broke up a year ago and Scott begins working to win her back. They air their grievances and try to work things out. Becca thinks that sex has allowed them to avoid confronting their issues in the past (smart girl), so she puts a moratorium on that activity (hmm, good luck with that). Spring break rolls around and the couple joins two other couples at a vacation home in Montreal where their resolve and the status of their relationship is put to the test.

I love the conflict, the tension, the narration. Becca and Scott take turns narrating in the first person and right off the bat each has a distinctive voice. Scott sounds like a realistic guy, although thankfully without the current slang that would date a book like this by next month. Becca is a great girl too - she's got backbone, good friends, priorities, and self-respect. Besides their relationship conflict, Becca and her dad are estranged, but that is handled gracefully and doesn't push too far to wrap things up with a bow. Scott also has insecurities, which I found very realistic and comforting in how well they are portrayed and dealt with. It's quite a skill to include external elements to the mix without making it all about them. I prefer my romances to be about the people in it, not some bizarre happenstance that throws two people together with no foundation. I found myself really rooting for these two because they show their vulnerabilities to each other, build trust, and expand their hearts to forgive and understand - and it makes the sex that much hotter.

It's rare to find characters that you actually would enjoy being friends with just because they are great people. I found the same for the secondary characters and am dying for the next book to come out. I've got the first of the series lined up to review, When in Paris..., and can't wait to talk about Olivia and Zach. I'm usually not impressed with contemporary romances, but this series is worth going on the keeper shelf.

Posted on What I'm Reading

Early today I finished Those Nights in Montreal by Beverley Kendall. I probably could have finished the story yesterday, but that wasn't in the cards (funny how I need to sleep). Anyways, this a novella, but a little bit longer. Which I'm glad it was a little longer, because I don't believe it would have been as good if it was any shorter.

I mean there is a lot that goes on in the story. First off, Rebecca Winters can hold a grudge. Especially , against her father and her ex-boyfriend Scott Carver. Scott would love to get back with Rebecca, but he has his work cutout for him. The problem Scott has is he did something stupid when he was dating Rebecca. Granted it wasn't it a huge deal, but enough for to cause Rebecca to say "adios". A lot of this stems from Rebecca's "daddy issues," so this makes her believe that guys aren't trustworthy and will bail when the going gets tough.

I do like Rebecca, flaws and all. She's a bit stubborn, especially when it comes to Scott. Scott is such a patient guy, but he's about to give up on getting back together with Rebecca. I'm so glad Rebecca woke in time to give Scott a second chance. I enjoy how they were able to workout the problems. Yes, it's a quick read, but satisfying to read. It makes me anxious for the next installment of Language of Love. So, if you are looking for a pretty good New Adult read, I would suggest reading Those Nights in Montreal.

I liked it, even though Becca and Scott were so stubborn I wanted to strangle some sense into them. I remember Scott when he was hitting on Olivia, which is Becca's BFF and I did think he was kind of pushy(?), maybe a little arrogant. Becca always not saying what she means or feels, so there was a lot of game playing with the two of them. And they did admit to it that they were doing it so that lessened my annoyance.

I really want to read about April and Troy! They were trying so hard not to be into each other it was almost funny! Nov 2013 isn't too far off cause I can't wait!

Good read. Part of the Unforgettable series. It was shorter then the other books but the story line was just as good. I love the characters and the heroine Rebecca was very spunky. It was an enjoyable reading experience.

Another 2:75 review from me!

It was ok, a little dramatic (without actual drama)

I found myself frowning through most of it.

I was slightly confused as to why they broke up. I get that he ran away but it felt like she'd blown everything out of proportion (just a little) and after all the "I hate him's" she maybe got back together with him super fast!

She was all "my mind hates him but my body wants him" which I had a little chuckle about! (Anyone else singing that song now.....my minds telling me noooo, but my body's telling me yeeees! Lol)

His drama wasn't (again) actual drama and after a brief conversation....resolved!

This book was a bit like a filter between books for me! Something to scrub off any previous angst/drama from whatever I'd read before this one, so that I can start fresh again with something else. I'm aware that sounds slightly harsh but I secretly (well not secretly anymore) love these reads, because they don't require to much involvement! I can happily read along and enjoy without getting into anything too heavy.

So if your looking for something that's nice quick and easy check this out! I'll start something a little deeper next week......but for now bring on the light and easy (my brain's vacationing from anything deep and dramatic haha!)

I really enjoyed this story. It is a quick read I was able to finish in just a few days. I found myself rooting for the couple, so obviously meant for each other, to find their way back. There are a few lustful sex scenes which would be the only qualifier to make this an "adult" romance instead of a teen romance. Both persons personal struggle affecting their ability to trust each other gives their relationship and truly realistic feel you can really connect to.

Did not like the ending.

The story line was good. Kept you interested and moving forward. Then abruptly stopped. I would have rated better if the ending was not so bad.

All Over You tells the story of Becca and Scott - former lovers who have gone separate ways for a year now, yet still holding on to those feelings inside of them. At first, I didn't know what caused their separation and why Becca acted so stubbornly against Scott, despite his relentless wooing and stalking as others might call it. The fact that it's so obvious that Becca is still pinning for Scott even after 1 year of calling it quits, aggravates me more. Her stubbornness exasperates me most of the times that I want to shake her off of it. Scott, ever the patient man that he is, didn't stop until he finally got what he truly wanted....Becca. It was her - the one who got away. After realizing that letting her go is the biggest mistake he has ever done, he knew he had to do everything he could to win her back. This time, nothing and no one could stop him. So the chase begins...

I was surprised that I pretty much enjoyed this story though I didn't read the first book in the series. It's true that it's a stand-alone but I still want to read the story of Olivia and Zach. It really sounds interesting. I would love to read their story too.

All in all, I enjoyed reading this. Yeah I know it's kinda predictable but it still works for me. I loved the flow of the story, the dialogues and the revelations along the story. Scott's family secret kept me guessing and I liked how the author pulled off that part when he finally revealed his secret to Becca. The heroine is not that bad. Actually, I have a love-hate relationship with her. The fact that her stubbornness and immaturity pissed me off sometimes, made me give this book 4-stars rating. And they could save themselves a lot of trouble if they could have been more honest and open to each other. But I love seeing them coming up to their senses, realizing their mistakes, admitting it and learning from it. Becca's trust issues with men has something to do with her absentee father. From that point of view, I totally understood her. With Scott, crawling back into her life and knocking off her defenses, really brought something good in her life. He made her realized that not all guy is like her father. That she could trust, love and find happiness again.

I just wished that this story is longer though. I felt like there are some unresolved issues especially on Becca's part. Her relationship with her father was left hanging open. But nevertheless, I still enjoyed it. Fast-paced. Quite Angsty. Steamy. Sweet. Funny. Captivating. Becca & Scott's story grew up on me. In the end, I liked how their relationship turned out. It's not that solid yet but they're working on it. The author did an amazing job creating these wonderful characters.

If you love reading about second chance romances, please try and read this one.

My Review
My Interest
An ex of mine once philosophised that you should never go back, moving forward is the key. It’s not a very happy thought for those whose love has gone awry, though sometimes I can concede the point. Generally you break up with someone for a reason, so it’s conceivable that second chance romances are doomed to fail. Yes it’s conceivable, but letting go of a loved one is often the hardest thing to do. You’re letting go of more than just a person. You’re letting go of dream, a plan, an identity. Sometimes your letting go of even more than that.
I loved the snippet above. The smoldering nature of Scott and Rebecca’s unresolved breakup. How is it that people split up, when they really don’t want to? I wanted to know and I wanted to see them overcome whatever it was and get on with a lifetime of loving.
Plot and Pacing
I was a little bit disappointed with the beginning of this novel. Rebecca is quite young and I found that disconcerting. What reads as a wry self depreciating sense of humour in the excerpt translated as immaturity in the novel. Shock, shudder and GASP... could I actually be too old to appreciate this novel? Don’t ask, I absolutely wont answer that. Ok so maybe I’m not 20 anymore but I can still enjoy an angsty new adult romance. I love those novels.
Happily this novel picked up the pace soon enough, and I found myself wanting to know Scott’s secret. What wasn’t he telling Rebecca? I wanted to google him (google a fictional character) because Beverly Kendall the author wasn’t in a hurry to disclose that information. Since google was the majority of the reason Scott was keeping his secret, then I guess his (and Ms Kendall’s) motivation to keep certain things hidden played out well in the novel.
The Characters
Rebecca as the heroine of this particular tale, was consistently portrayed throughout, fortunately her stubbornness didn’t overrule her libido in the bedroom or things with Scott might never have been resolved. The reason for her reluctance to try again, without giving anything away also leant an element of truth to the story.
Scott, however was quite adept in reading Rebecca in one scene, and surprisingly unaware in the next. I would have like to seen his insight into her motivations more consistently portrayed throughout the novel. He allowed the love of his life to push him away after a rather pivotal event and did not seem to realise what it was that Rebecca was really running from, it certainly wasn’t Scott.
Something Extra
Two other characters, whose romantic life intrigued me, were introduced in this novel. My hope is that since this book is promoted as An Unforgettable You Novella, their story will feature in another of Beverly Kendall’s works. Isn’t that the real litmus test of an author to a reader, would I read more by that person... In this case. Yes, yes I would.

Rating: 3.5 stars!

I really enjoyed this book, it was a really good story with a hella lot of emotional journey. Both main characters are confident and independent, definitely got the sizzling electric connection between the two yet they have not reveal their skeleton inside their closet towards each other. *cue in the drama!*

Although it is a novella, i thought i could adapt to the story from the first chapter, and i haven't read the first book yet (i will soon). The prose was written quite good, and the characterisation was realistic. I have suspected the conflict from earlier on, with the hints of the dual POV (point of view), BUT Scott's problem was unexpected. i didn't saw that coming!
He fought his devil and what a change it was! it reminded me to not judge people, some people could be an extremely different than they used to be or what they appear to be.

Scott and Rebecca had already broke up in the beginning of this book. (it was for a very sensitive reason), but Scott's understanding of the break up was different than Rebecca, and he want her back. Then begin the adventure of courting her back to convince he is a better person now.

Scott is an admirable hero, he took care of Rebecca even when she is stubborn and he don't drink or do drugs! Of course there's the matter of his physical sexiness,
description

but lets focus on characteristics first people~ ;D
Scott the good boy is actually a man with many mystery, even Rebecca his girlfriend for a year did not know them. Through the journey, he learnt to let go and trust Rebecca. Thus, the truth shall let him free!

Rebecca is a nice, confident girl who like to have fun with her friend. She is set to not be ruled by her past, but when the history ALMOST repeat itself, it's totally understandable for her to press that panic button before it's all gone messy. It seems to me she can't think straight when it comes to Scott, she went a bit indecisive, weak knees, and barely communicative it's almost an eyerolling situation. Like Scott, Rebecca went through a journey, and the stubborn gal that she is, of course she won't make it easy for Scott to get her good side. So she ask him to play the little baby turtle steps. It was a bit torture for Scott but from it all she learnt to let live and be happy girl!

It was a beautiful ending. *teary eyed* I can't wait to read the series!!

People need second chances, they need to try taking risks, and many need to finally start growing up. Becca gets her chance at all of that in All Over You, a NA novella by Beverly Kendall. Teen love is intense, it feels all-encompassing, but breaking up can be devastating, especially when one’s heart wasn’t ready to let go. That’s what happened with Becca and Scott. One year later and both of them still love each other, but Becca does her best to push Scott away, consumed by her feelings of mistrust and hurt, she never gave him a chance to explain what really happened when she ended their relationship. With so many secrets withheld and so many other conflicts, are they ready to try to get back together? Can they make it last this time or will outside influences keep them apart?

Beverley Kendall does a marvelous job crawling into the heads and hearts of our main characters, Rebecca and Scott by allowing them each to tell their point of view, exposing their inner thoughts and insecurities, their secrets, warts and all. Ms. Kendall seemed to allow Scott to be the “good” guy, more mature, more giving, more understanding, more patient, but still flawed and less than completely honest, in a word, human! Rebecca, on the other hand, came across as selfish, whiny, and rather immature, needing to get her pound of flesh from anyone who may have done her wrong, again, very human, but so angsty-young in so many ways! Her “coming-of-age” as the story progressed did give her a more likeable persona. The common ground aside from their feelings for each other seemed to be sex, and I really found it to be another realistic piece of the pie, but too emotionally over the top and all-consuming, considering all of the “other issues’ these two had to work out.

This is just a short Novella about Becca and Scott. Book #1.5 I have not read book one Only For You so I was a little nervous that I would be lost in this book. That was not the case, this one can be read as a stand alone. I will say after reading this one I will probably go back and read the first one because now my interest is peeked.

Becca broke up with Scott a year ago. It wasn't because she didn't love him or that he cheated or anything, it had to do with how he handled a pregnancy scare. I don't think that is a spoiler as you find out about it pretty early in the book. Becca was sure ending things with him was the right thing to do even though over the past year she has not been able to find any one who can fill his void. Becca grew up with just her mom after her father abandoned them both before she was even born. So the last thing she wants is to be in a situation that turns out similar to her moms. However, the one thing Becca does not count on is Scott deciding he wants Becca back and he is determined to get her.

Scott thought Becca broke up with him because the pregnancy scare spooked her and he fully expected her to come back to him. What he didn't expect was for her to cut off all contact with him and avoid him at all costs. Scott tried to move on but he quickly discovered he doesn't want anyone but Becca, and he has to make her see they belong together. The only problem is that Scott is hiding something from her about his past and his family and is afraid if she finds out the truth before he wins her back he will lose her forever.

This is a good little afternoon read. I liked Becca and Scott but the trouble with Novella's is that I just don't seem to get fully invested in the characters. Becca is pretty obvious that she has daddy issues and she tests Scott a lot and wants to make sure he proves himself before she lets him in so she doesn't open herself up to be abandoned again. I liked Scott but felt he made too big of a deal out of his "Secret" and Becca's whole push him away while keeping him close got a little old. It is nice to see how they learn to let each other in once they learn to be honest with each other.

I didn't realise that when I requested this novella I had previously been accepted to review it with the former title Those Nights in Montreal. It was only when I went to download it to my kindle did I notice and although I prefer the new title, I really like the old cover better.

Anyway this book was a believable, fun read that included a lot of detail for a novella. The back stories with each character and the history between Scott and Becca was interesting and I liked how they developed emotionally throughout the narrative. I also loved that the author managed to create suspense in such a short amount of space and had me turning pages hoping to find out what was wrong with Scott's family. I was worried that it wouldn't be revealed as I watched the page count go down but thankfully it was and the suspense was left right until the end.

The characters in All Over you were believable and easy to relate to, which is unusual for me in a novella. Both Becca and Scott interacted nicely together and I loved Becca's stubbornness and Scott's cheeky side, for me they worked really well together. There were both sweet, funny and hot moments in the book and all were described in a nice amount of detail. I wasn't so keen on the start but as soon as they ended up in Montreal things really picked up and I was enthralled in the world the author created. A few times the book had me laughing out loud and once again a novella put a smile on my face.

The only thing that annoyed me slightly was there were a few references I didn't understand. This is probably down to my age but I do find it irritating when I read a comparison that doesn't make sense because I don't know who the person the character is being compared to.

Overall, although I haven't read the first book in the series it didn't hinder me in the slightest. This was a short, quick and easy read. It kept me hooked and there was a surprising amount of detail included for a novella. I would definitely recommend and will be checking out the rest of the series.

If you want to read a light book, then this is the right book to read. I just found it too light. You know those kinds of books that I feel that there is no plot in it. Maybe it was like this because it is a novella, not a full length novel. But it is still too light.
So what is this book about? It is about this Becca girl who is stalked by her ex, Scott. They broke up a year ago, but he still wants her. I know that this kind of act the girls would like, but I am not. I hated when my ex wanted to get back to me and I got to stick to the first sentence in the synapsis an ex is an ex for a reason. And there is the reason they broke up in the first place where I totally don't get it. It is lame and it was like she couldn't wait to get that relationship over.
I might sound like I'm team Becca, but I'm team Scott. I felt the entire book that he was mistreated and he didn't deserve what was being happening to him. I also felt that he was tortured the entire book.
Of course Becca puts a no sex rule, so most of the book we go with no sex. I loved how the author described it, but when it happened every time I felt it was just pushed and that it didn't come natural.
I haven't read the first book in the series and I don't feel integrated to do that 'cause I knew that the couple got their happily ever after. I really loved the hero and heroine of the first book. In this book they were a side characters and they were fun. I also loved Troy and April, the other side character and I really want to download their book and I would.
Overall I did love this book, but I rated it as 2.5 stars because I didn't feel connected to the characters and I felt that the story was with no plot. I know I sound like I have a bipolar now but I enjoyed reading it, maybe because most of the books I read have a lot of things going on and some of them are dark or suspense, but this book was really slow and sweet. I would recommend it as an escape or a rest of the other books.
P.S I didn't like the cover. I felt it is too vintage and not a cover would encourage me to read a book.

I got this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review..

o.k. i understand that most of the readers have given this book some bad stars. this book is a little boring, but for under 200 pages it was not bad. this is the part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone. I did not read the first book, and followed the story with no problems.

this book will go between two POV'S Rebecca and Scott.

Rebecca did not understand why people would re-date their ex's she told everyone they are that way for a reason. that being said she was not over her relationship with her ex boyfriend Scott. they had been broken up for over a year, and she hasn't seen anyone since. She is always the third wheel at parties, and just tags along with her two best friends and roommates. one night at a party she sees her ex. this was the third party that he also showed up when she was there.

Scott is determined to get his girlfriend back. He understood why she broke up with him, and she needed to find out the whole truth. the only problem was that he would be afraid once she finds out about his secrets that she would never want him back again. He constantly was finding ways to talk to her. he even went as far as bribing her best friend.

Scott will stop and almost bad experience one night when Rebecca get way to drunk, and will end up be-befriending her roommates boyfriends when it starts to turn for the worse.

Rebecca is in the middle of dealing with her "daddy issues" yes, her father wanted nothing to do with her until now. she is 19 and refuses to see him. now she is sprung with her ex boyfriend stating his undying love for her. She is still hurt over what happens to them in the past.

once they fight over their past, they will have lots of hot steamy sex, and fight about if they are going to get back together or not. Scott helps Rebecca deal with her daddy issues, and Rebecca will find out sooner than the later about Scott and his past. this secret will shock Rebecca and could ruin their relationship before it even blooms.

This review and others can also be found at Jackie's Book World :)

The novella centers around Rebecca and Scott's relationship. Having ended their relationship a year ago, both are struggling to move on with their lives while in College. For once Rebecca feels the need to move on with her life, she is done crying over the guy that broke her heart. But that doesn't work out because Scott is not ready to move on and he is going to try everything and anything to get her back. At the beginning of the story, Rebecca is angry and conflicted. She mentions having problems with her biological father as well as having problems moving on after ending her relationship with Scott. There are hints at the beginning of the story that tells what happened to them, but the full problem is not revealed until later on in the story.

From my perspective, I thought that their need for closure is what brings them together. Not only do they have to share a room while spending their vacation in Montreal, but they also have to spend a lot of time together. As Scott works to get her to give him another chance, their friends also try to set them up. What I liked about the novella was how descriptive it was and how much the characters are very relatable. Both Rebecca and Scott have to go through all sorts of scenarios that tests their ability to trust one another and to be able to oversee their pasts in order to create a future. I found the story very compelling and realistic. I enjoyed reading their romantic scenes and the end. Although I know it's a novella, the ending felt too rushed for me. I would have loved to see if other problems got solved in the future. Other than that I'm very pleased with the story and I would recommend it to those that want a realistic yet steamy story.

After a bad break up 12 months ago, Rebecca Winters still wants nothing to do with her ex. Scott Carver. But unfortunately for her – he hasn’t given up on her. For the past month, Rebecca can’t go anywhere on campus without Scott turning up. One incident with a little too much to drink and the gorgeous and hard-to-say-no-to Scott, leaves Rebecca doing something she swore she would never do – giving him a second chance. Has Scott really changed? Or is he just going to end up breaking Rebecca’s heart again… and this time permanently.

I wanted to like this novella. I really did. I found Rebecca to be an effervescent character when she was first introduced in Only For You (formerly know as When In Paris) but somewhere in between Olivia’s story and now – she changed for me. In this story, Rebecca is the kind of girl who loves to play games – and I’m not even sure she knows she’s playing them. A person who thinks they’re low maintenance but in all reality they couldn’t be any more insecure or temperamental. She leads Scott on and then shuts him down, is jealous of his liaisons with other women and yet gets an almost perverse pleasure out of turning him away and messing with his emotions. Scott is a little flat and I don’t understand his motivation for wanting Rebecca. They don’t make sense as a couple and have some rather severe communication issues.

Okay, so maybe I’m being a little harsh on Rebecca. The relationship between her and Scott – whilst it doesn’t make sense to me why either party is interested in the other except for sheer sexual attraction – is full of obstacles and does reach a satisfying conclusion. Are they perfect for each other? Yes (but maybe that’s just because I don’t want anyone else to have to put up with either of them).

Despite all I’ve said – I enjoyed reading this book. It’s hot – like sizzling in parts! – but involves people who frustrate me to no end because of the games many people play in relationships.

Although this is a novella, this is truly a well-developed story with intriguing characters and a great story about second chance at love.

Rebecca and Scott have a past relationship. One that ended after Becca called things off, stating that things were moving too fast. And the story starts after their break-up, with Becca running into Scott again.

Scott has never gotten over Rebecca and he wants to win her back. He is sincere, upfront about his feelings and the mistakes he made that led to their breakup. There is an obvious connection to what these two share and Rebecca decides to give him another chance.

With conditions.

No sex. At least not right away.

With sex out of the picture, they can work on the foundation of their relationship and make it stronger than it was in the past.

But there is no denying how strong the sexual side of their relationship is, either. And when Scott and Rebecca join friends to go skiing in Montreal, things get very, very, steamy between them.

"Scott." My feeble protest ends on a moan when his hips rock against mine."Say it," he demands in a low sexy voice, his breath hot against the side of my neck. "Admit you want sex. Don't make us both have to suffer."Aching breasts, pebbled nipples and the collecting moisture between my thighs has my body urging me to choose orgasm and mind-blowing sex over a romance novel. Another rock of his hips against mine leaves me gasping and dizzy with desire My choice could not be more obvious.

But can the past come back to haunt them? Will Scott's secret about who he is and his own past destroy the last shred of hope for their second chance at love?

Beverly Kendall packs a lot in such a short story--but it is well written and beautifully told. I look forward to reading more of her works in The Language of Love series.

Wow. I loved this story. Beverley Kendall definitely has a way with words. Her writing is superb. I really love how she puts a shroud of mystery in her stories. It's so enthralling. You just have to keep reading in order to find out what's really going on.

I adore Rebecca and her story is so sweet. She's trying to get over the boy she loved who is persistent in getting her back. Their story is sweet, sexy, and every thing in between. Rebecca is so relatable. And Scott is a sweetheart. He knows he messed up AND HE ADMITS IT. He loves Rebecca and doesn't want to lose her for good. His persistence is sweet, not annoying like some situations like theirs can be.

I absolutely cannot wait for April's story to come out later this year. I just love all the little glimpses we've gotten about her and Troy and now its time for their story to be told in length! And I read there's a title for book 3 but I can't find any info on it. Now I'm dying for the details.

On a side note, the sex scenes in this novella are...amazing. There's one scene that I'm pretty sure is the sexiest thing I've ever read. Again, Kendall definitely has a way with words. She doesn't overdo things or cheapen then in any way. And yet again I really like the alternating POV between the main characters. It was perfect. They both were interesting, real, and relatable characters which had you cheering for them from the get-go.

In conclusion, Beverley Kendall has quite the series going here and this novella is sure to not disappoint the fans of her writing. And I slime to add I love the blurb in the description on here: "Warning: The sensuality level of this short novel is high. Hero is not tattooed or damaged. Heroine has not been emotionally or physically abused." Perfectly written!! Hehe

I received a copy of All Over You (Unforgettable You #1.5) in exchange for an honest review.

Please beware that there might be small spoilers.

Becca Winters and Scott Carver are exes. Exes are exes for a reason. Both are still clearly not over it…so why did they break up?

This story is about the road to recovering from heartache of a devastating breakup and moving forward. Both Becca and Scott were completely devastated and feel jaded by what happened and are having trouble moving on…even after a year of being apart. They still very much care about each other and seem to have a different sense of what happened leading up to their breakup.

Some key things about the story that made it a great read for me:
- I am more of a fantasy/paranormal romance girl, but I really enjoyed this. It was a very realistic story with funny quips, tension, real life drama without going too crazy on top of the romance. The real life drama explained why Becca and Scott did some of the things they did to or around each other.
- You get to experience the story from both points of view, which makes for a fun and interesting read.
- I really enjoyed the characters and felt that these are people I could relate to. It reminded me of both high school and college…the drama with young love and lust.
- The tension between Becca and Scott was so suspenseful that I couldn’t put the book down.
- The story ends with answering all the questions I had while reading, except what happens down the road for Becca and Scott.

I loved the ending but was sad to see that part of the story end. I’m not sure what Ms. Kendall’s other books are about, but I do hope that we see more of the Becca and Scott’s story.
