The broken chimneys stretched up like hands to the heavens, the eyeless sockets of the windows staring intently along the twisting drive. On the floor of the library, strange cabalistic designs glowed with an eerie light and there was a flickering as of corpse candles - a cold radiance, a manifestation of the evil aura which had never left this place, instead crystallising inside its very walls...

Halfway through the second story I realized it was the same as the first story, and the first story was so obvious and cliched it was nigh unreadable. Neither had anything to do with the Cthulhu Mythos. My cat just fell off the table, taking a half-full box of pizza with her, and I need to investigate. I really hate to do this (that's why I almost always never do), but I'm giving this one two stars. It's not that good at all.

A short and at best middling collection of short stories. The last two are Cthulhu Mythos ones, while the first three are traditional ghost stories. It’s not actually a bad collection, just instantly forgettable.
