BREAKING THE PATTERN
Two years without a ring on your finger is enough to drive any girl crazy, especially Lavender Gerloch. She loves her bad-boy quarterback, but he only prizes one type of ring—the kind you get from winning the Super Bowl. So it’s time to say goodbye.

Tyler Harris hasn’t been hit so hard in years. Why would anyone want to ruin a perfectly good relationship by making it official? But Lavender’s flight seems to suggest just that, and even worse, his friends’ wives have huddled with her to run a game-winning play. Coming is the biggest showdown of his life, and there’ll be no refs calling unnecessary roughness. He’s down by four. Already he’s drifted out of the pocket, Lavender is ducking and weaving, and there’ll be only one chance to beat the defense. It will all come down to three…two…one...

Jami lives on a small farm near Puget Sound with her Army Ranger-turned-plumber husband, a Newfoundland drool monster, and a prince disguised as an orange tabby cat.

Jami worked in IT for years and is also a former high school business teacher but recently achieved a life-long dream of being a full-time author. A horse lover since birth, Jami showed dressage horses for over thirty years. Now she gardens and goes glamping, along with other travelling adventures. She's a lifetime Seahawks and Mariners fan, and has season tickets to the Seattle Kraken hockey team. She still misses her SuperSonics.

An avid boater, Jami has spent countless hours in the San Juan Islands, a common setting in her books. In her opinion, it's the most beautiful place on earth.

Jami Davenport is my current go-to for feel good reads, so when she asked me to read Roughing the Passer for feedback and a review? I jumped all over it! I knew this would be the final book in her beloved Lumberjacks series, but was excited for it none the less! And she definitely went out with a bang!

The second book in this fantastic series, Forward Passes, is Tyler and Lavender’s story. Tyler is such a jerk in the first book, Fourth and Goal, that I was initially hesitant to even read his story. But like Lavender, I fell in love with him. And we’ve watched through the rest of the series as he struggled to really commit to her! So I was proud of her at the start of this book for sticking to her guns. She knew he wasn’t going to marry her, and she wanted marriage and kids. So no matter how much she loved Tyler? She was going to have to move on.

Oh boy, this story is so cute!! And it has the perfect ending to this series – all the previous characters in one place (Tyler’s mansion in the San Juan’s) and giving us a nice little package with a pretty bow to wrap it up! And as per usual, I had moments where I laughed, swooned and wanted to punch Tyler in the face. I couldn’t have asked for anything more to wrap up this fantastic series!

If you’re looking for a great binge read? I strongly recommend Jami Davenport’s Seattle Lumberjack series!

"Roughing the Passer" is a novella written by Jami Davenport. It is the sixth story in her Seattle Lumberjacks series, and it can be read as a stand-alone novella. It features fan favorites Tyler and Lavender, who readers will remember from "Forward Passes."

I love Tyler and Lavender, and this novella reminded me how much I did. Lavender wants to settle down, but Tyler is afraid to commit. He loves Lavender. Why does she need a ring and an official paper to show he's committed to her?

This is where the novella begins. Both Tyler and Lavender are lamenting over their breakup. Neither are happy, and they're making their family and friends miserable in the process. So what happens? Well, the girls decide they need a break from their men -- they need a ladies weekend! They decide to go to the mansion where Tyler and Lavender's romantic relationship first started -- in San Juan. But what happens when the guys want a guys weekend and end up in the same location? Sure makes for a fun time!

"Roughing the Passer" was a quick read for me, and I adored it! I loved seeing all the familiar faces from the previous Seattle Lumberjacks books! Normally, novellas can be a hit or miss for me depending on the storylines that take place in these types of shorter stories. Sometimes, it can be a bit overwhelming for the reader if too much takes place with not enough story to develop. But "Roughing the Passer" had none of those problems. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I smiled, and I laughed. This is definitely a must-read!

I hated the whole concept of this story from the very beginning. When Lavender and Tyler finally got together in Forward Pass he was open about his views on marriage and she accepted it. However fast forward two years and she's decided she wants to get married and gives him an ultimatum, he won't comply, they break up. What really got me wasn't that she wanted marriage, it was the way she went about it and her complete lack of maturity! She didn't talk about commitment and security with the prospect of how that commitment would affect their future children, no it seemed to boil down to "all my friends are married and I want a big rock for my finger and to spend a fortune of your money!" By the end she seemed little more than a freeloader! It was an incredibly poor advertisement for marriage and made me really dislike a character that I had previously enjoyed very much.

This was a quick 9 chapter novella about Tyler & Lavender. She's finally given up, Tyler isn't going to propose. She needs to move on but can't because she still loves him. Tyler can't commit to marriage he is totally panicked by it. When the women go on a girls weekend the guys get lonely & end up at the mansion where the girls are trying to pick up Lavender's spirits. Neither knows that the other is there until the girls come back from a shopping trip. Egos, hearts & wills are waged in the battle between Tyler & Lavender, who will win? Can one final night be the breaking point for them? Great series hope there's another one on the way.

Tyler and Lavender have reached an impasse-she wants marriage and the whole white picket fence life and he doesn't. So, she leaves. They are both miserable and decide to take their friends and go away for a break. When everyone ends up in the same place, Tyler and Lavender have to face their future and look at what they really want and why.

This is the last book in what has been a favorite series of mine and I'm sad to see it end. Tyler and Lavender are a great couple and this is a fitting end to the series. The good news is that Ms. Davenport has other books to come about other couples and other lives that her readers will enjoy.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review

I had been waiting to read this book for a long time- knowing it had to do with Tyler and Lavender- and commitment issues, made me very anxious. This book is as so good, and so worth the wait. I was for sure they would compromise for one another- but that really didn't happen. There were some obviously cheesy parts, but that is a given in most books. I'm very sad this series is over... Or at least over for a while. :). I loved all of these characters. Every single one of them. Congrats Jami Davenport for a wonderful series.

I love when the mighty falls. In love that is.... Tyler is afraid of commitment. The one thing Lavender wants most. I love that Lav knows what she wants and won't accept anything less. Tyler saw how the death of one's spouse can crush the survivor and he doesn't want that to happen to him. Only losing Lavender this way was just as bad. They are a match made in heaven and it was about time thy got their HEA!

Beautiful ending...

Tyler Harris is back. It seems Lavender has finally left him because he refuses to commit to marriage. Both, while in love, are terribly unhappy, but can Tyler change his views on marriage? Will Lavender be able to compromise her feelings to keep him? This short story pulls together the ending of the Seattle Lumberjacks series and you don't ant to miss it.

Frustrating read. After two year, you would think a couple could communicate better than just abandoning each other. Grow up!
