A princess locked in a tower. A prince to save her.
You’ve heard the tale, but not like this.
Olena, Second Princess of the Fifth Kingdom, has been trapped in the tower vault ever since the Great Disaster destroyed her world years ago. She waits—alone—tending to her makeshift garden and listening to the maddening static of the radio. That was until Ethan’s voice crackled across the speaker, reigniting the embers of hope.
As her mysterious new companion journeys to the tower, Olena recounts the death of her Kingdom, weaving a tale of wedding plans, secret weapons, sibling rivalries, personal loss, and royal conspiracies that have deeper repercussions than she ever realized; repercussions that may keep her locked away forever.
I was once a cubicle drone. I broke free during the spreadsheet uprising of '09, slayed my middle-management overlords, and have been writing ever since.
I now spend my days watching ducks, writing, and putting googly eyes on random objects. But mostly I'm writing.
A short story with a predictable ending...or is it?
This would’ve made a decent episode of Doctor Who and for a short story it had some predictable plot twists but still had the capacity to surprise right up to the end.
I was going to give it 3 stars but added 1 more just for the epilogue
