Can be read as a standalone.

Patty gets laid off and finds her boyfriend cheating on her. She's pretty much done with men, and doesn't trust herself in selecting another guy. The next man is probably going to be just like everyone else. Lying, cheating sleazeballs.

When she goes out with a group of her friends, she meets Jon at a club. Unfortunately, the two sexy women on his arms give Patty more reasons on why men are pigs.

Jon avoids serious relationships like the plague, and only seek temporary companionship with women. Seeing Patty at the club confuses him, and he can't stop thinking about her.

They start their relationship when Jon rear ends Patty with his car on accident. Their relationship is sweet and steamy. But Jon has a painful past that prevents him from opening up.

I enjoyed the story, but I found myself skimming the erotic parts. I thought they were just too long. I also thought Jon's secret wasn't that big of a reveal. I did enjoy seeing the other characters in the previous books in the series.

Erotic romance with a sweetness mixed in. Surrendering to love has never felt so right. But of course you know it must come with some baggage, a little drama. Just enough to make you question should I continue on with what I know to be right for me Patricia did not really have much left to lose. When all hope was lost or slightly misdirected, a collision puts things to right or so they seem that way. Someone else has there own way of making your right seem wrong.

Jonathon just was not sure. Life was what it was for him. He was hot, wealthy, hot, sexy, hot, single, hot. Just hot. Patti was that more that was missing from his life but demons follow you all the time waiting for the perfect moment to steal your hope, dreams, future.

I found this to be a good addition to the Night Calls series. The spice level has most certainly increased.

Book provided by author for honest review!

Well If he five stars did not give it away ; I Loved this book, I have actually really enjoyed all of the books in this series , all an be read as a sand alone. What's not to love! Great story line, wonderful characters full of spirit!

Patricia Jacobs one of the main characters in this story is a petite blonde an accountant and a car enthusiast ,she can repair her own Classic GTO including body work; the on thing she is not so good at , picking men. Patti always goes or the bad boy who in the end turns out to be A BAD BOY!
To prove the point the opening of the book is Patty walking I on her boyfriend in bed with another women, and you just have to love her, before leaving she picks up
The other women's stiletto and lobs it at Kyle's head and connects and yes in case your wondering he is the stupid good looking bad boy , he follows her trying to tell her it is not what it looks like! Poor party's week is not over yet, the next day at work she is let go, basic economics she is a great account but she cost more than the accountant who has been around for only a year .so when the BFF!s take her out for drinks it is well needed, this is where she first meets Jonathan Bradshaw everything Patty likes, good looking in a bad boy kind of way and a charmer, and he is charming her until the two women he came with come up and wrap themselves around him, such a shame but Patty is no going down that road again .

Jon Bradshaw, successful businessman , well built , handsome as sin and charming does not do relationships, Jon is a true love Em and leave , leave Em happy but leave Em! Jon has ghosts in his past , and he carries his ghosts and guilt on his shoulders all the time, heroes not believe he is worthy of a relationship, believes I'd anyone finds out his secret burden the run in the opposite direction from an real connection.
The funny thing is , he can no stop thinking about Patty.

Fate however must of had a hand in this because he gets to run in Patty again, literally, he rear ends her Classic GTO at a stoplight, which just sets Patty off this caris her baby, so Patty is already mad about her car , but then the idiot Kyle decides its time to call and harness her about collecting his things from her place, have I said I love Patty, because while exchanging info for insurance purposes, she has the incredible skill to tell Kyle, sure come over., "you can pick up the rest of your shit from the burning pile of rubble on my front lawn!". ( My hero!).
Jon Bradshaw , is amazing , with all this he still manages to get a dinner date with Patti!

These two are incredible together, all sparks and flames and hot as hell together, incredible sex , but all good things have obstacles and these two have some whoppers . Luckily you have the rest of the book to read as they work though everything! Of course you get your HEA ! Just have to wait a little for it!

Jon Bradshaw owns a publishing company. He is rich, gorgeous and, of course, a man whore. He uses women because he doesn't believe he deserves to be loved after experiencing a tragic event when he was younger. So he has one nights stands, until he meets Patti Jacobs. The first time Jon and Patti meet, it is at a club and Jon has two beautiful women on his arm. After dealing with a cheating ex-boyfriend, Patti knows what type of man Jon appears to be. The second meeting, Jon runs into Patti (literally) and Patti might have misjudged Jon.

Patti Jacobs just lost her job, dumped her cheating ex-boyfriend and gave up on men altogether, until she meets Jon. She has some minor baggage she is dealing with also. She goes out on a date with Jon and the sparks iginite.

The romance is sweet and steamy. Jon is starting to realize his feelings for Patti and brings her home to meet his parents (who are adorable). He is then confronted with his past and everything falls apart and he shuts Patti out. He finally gets himself together, only to have Patti run from him because of a misunderstanding. I don't want to give to much away, but there is a surprise for him.

The only problem I had with this books was that it could have been a more emotional read, especially when they discuss Jon's past. It could have been more heart-wrenching, but it just wasn't there.

Overall, if you are looking for a easy, smexy read, Surrender to Love is a good choice.

Surrender To Love is book three in the Night Calls series and is an Adult Contemporary Romance written by J.C. Valentine. I received this eARC from the author in exchange for an honest review through Tasty Book Tours .

4 Solid Surrendering Stars!
Heartfelt and Romantic. A Perfect Afternoon Read!

The Review:
When I saw this read come up for review, I grabbed it as quick as I could because I knew without a doubt, I’d be in for a treat. As usual, J.C. Valentine did not disappoint!

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. Surrender To Love sucks you right in with an exciting opening and keeps you connected throughout the entire book. The characters were fun, the conflict was emotional and the story was sweet. This author hooked me with the first book in the series, Stranded, and with each book, the stories and character building get richer and the spice gets hotter. Yeah, I'm a fan!

Characters/Story...
Patti Jacobs has a bad habit of picking the wrong guy. Her past is riddled with players and cheaters and she’s had enough of men in general. But the night she meets Jon, something about him pulls her towards him even though their first meeting lets her see right from the start what kind of dating habits he has. Patti was an interesting character. She loves muscle cars which is something she got from her father. She loves the classics and she doesn’t mind getting dirty under the hood of her car. She rebuilt the GTO she drives with her father and she loves it as much as she does the memories associated with it. This all resonated with me. My father and I did the same thing when I was a child and I’ll never forget those times in my life. When we first meet Pattie, she’s spitting mad and then she sinks into a depression. I thought at first, she would be this meek, doe eyed girl but she’s a total spitfire. She still has her moments where uncertainty take hold but she gives as good as she gets. I loved her.

Jon Bradshaw is a wealthy, one-night-stand all the women love. He doesn’t hear the word no very often and he’s used to getting what he wants, when he wants. Then he meets Patti who literally turns his world upside down. She changes everything for him, from the way he thinks, to the way he lives his life and once he’s had a taste of her, he can’t get enough. I enjoyed Jon’s character. Even when he was being a cocky little manwhore, he still tore up the pages with his charm and alpha male qualities. This author has a wonderful talent for writing amazing hero’s with complex structures and Jon was definitely complex.

The Wrap Up:
This is a sweet romance where there is just enough conflict to get you emotionally invested in both the story and the characters as well as some fun, feel-good moments. There are a couple of times when you’re not sure how things are going to work out for the MC’s but when they come together, they completely win you over.

I also loved seeing recurring characters from the previous books coming into scenes so we get snippets of their continuing lives and what's happening with them. This was just a wonderful read. I love this author and her writing and stories leave me with a smile every time!

Surrender to Love is the third book in the Night Calls series by author J.C Valentine and the second one I have read. I’ve been meaning to go back and read the first book in the series for a while now but just haven’t gotten around to it. All books can be read as stand alones but do have some interconnecting stories, so if you like to read books in order, start with book one.

Things haven’t been going very well for Patti, she’s lost her job and found her boyfriend cheating on her. When she meets handsome playboy Jonathon Bradshaw she’s not looking to fall in love...

Jon’s got a different lady for every day of the week. He doesn’t get tied down and doesn’t do commitments. But something about Patti makes him want something more. Unfortunately, Jon carries around guilt from a mistake he can never move on from...

J.C Valentine is a very good writer and I found no flaws in Surrender to Love. Unfortunately, I just didn't love the story. I liked it, but didn't love it. I just never really connected with either of the characters. The romance had plenty of steam. While I liked Patti for the majority of the book, I was rethinking that by the end.

Overall, I had a hard time getting into this one. I can't pinpoint exactly why, but the story was just okay for me. I wouldn't have a problem recommending this series to anyone though. I just didn't love this book.

Patricia Jacobs is done with men. After her last failed relationship she realizes what she really needs is time to just be single. Jonathon Bradshaw does not do relationships ever. He is more of a one night stand kind of guy. A chance meeting between Patricia and Jonathon just may change their thoughts on the subject of love.

In the third book of this wonderful series the author once again treats us to colorful characters with a fun and sexy storyline. The author tempts us with flirty banter, keeps us guessing to the secrets the characters keep buried so deep within them and she makes us tingle with her super sexy scenes.

This is not only a story of love it is a story of family, of learning to accept and believe the truths of the past and putting fear aside to open yourself up to the future. With unique twists and turns the story allows us to connect with the characters on a deep emotional level and at times you find yourself rooting for the happy outcome you want to see happen. Throw in a bit of mystery that provides a great back story and you have a book that is written to entertain the reader.
Not only does the author make you fall in love with Jonathon she makes you want Patricia to have her happy ever after. With a unique and insightful view into the relationship of parents and their adult children we learn the how and why of Patricia and Jonathon’s personalities. This story sheds a unique light on holding on to memories and how we tend to let them control our lives in the present. The story also plays upon the hopeless romantics in all of us as we hope that the mistakes of the past can be put into perspective given the characters the ability to see they are worthy of what their hearts want.

Love stories have so many sides to them. The past, the future, the hurt, the happiness, the truth, the lies, the rejection, the acceptance, the sex, the sizzle and Surrender to Love has it all.

Surrender to Love is the third book in the Night Calls Series. However it can be read as a stand-alone.

Patti is cheated on by her boyfriend and she loses her job all in the same week. Falling into depression, her BFF decides she's in dire need of a girl's night out.
That night at the bar, she meets Jon.
Jon never fails to have at least one skank with him. He has random sex with no attachments, because it's just easier that way. He carries a heavy amount of guilt after a tragic event from his past changed his life.
As much as he wants to keep that lifestyle, he can't help but be drawn to Patti.
Even though Patti's been hurt several times before, she has a deep urge to pursue things with Jon.

The story read smoothly and while there were some deep emotional aspects, it was an easy read. There was also a nice touch of sex and humor within the book. There were moments when the story seemed to slow down but I felt like those moments were necessary. Overall it was well-placed and had good character development.

This was my first book in the series. I liked J.C.'s writing style and I will definitely be reading the other books in the series.

*An eCopy of this book was provided by the author for an honest review. This has not affected my review/opinion in any way.

"If she loves you, you'll find a way to get through it. But, Jon, the problem here isn't her, it's you." He looked out across the yard at their women. "At some point you have to forgive yourself and move on. You have to surrender everything, your past, your present, your future. If you want to be happy, you're going to have to let go and surrender to love and trust that it's strong enough to carry you through the worst so you can find your way through to the best."

Received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

Surrender to Love by J.C. Valentine is the third book in the Night Calls Series. Though this is the third book in the series it can be read as a standalone without feeling like you are missing any information. The characters from the first two books in the series make brief appearances throughout Surrender to Love for those of you who have read them.

Patricia (Patti) Jacobs is having one of the worst weeks of her life. She just walked in on her boyfriend in bed with another woman to then return to work later that day to find out she is being let go. Her friends try to cheer her up by dragging her out for some fun, where she meets Jonathon (Jon) Bradshaw. Excited that she has captured the attention of this sexy hunk of a man she is quickly reminded why she needs to stay away from men when his two dates of the night come to find him and drag him away.

Jon has a lot of emotional baggage from his past and doesn’t allow anyone to get close enough. He only does one night stands and never fails to find a woman willing, but he can’t seem to get Patti out of his mind. Fate brings these two back together a few days after their initial meeting and Jon is determined to change Patti’s option of him and make her his, but the past never stays buried for long and Jon pushes Patti away but fate has different plans for them and throws them together again.

I didn’t love this book as much as I did the other books in the series, but I still enjoyed it. I loved that you got to see both POV’s and that they got their HEA.

Surrender to Love is the story of Jon and Patti. I didn't think I was going to like Jon's character at first as he is kind of a man-ho (even after he meets Patti) but later in the book you find the reasoning behind his actions and can cut him some slack. Patti also has some issues - her strongest connection is with her dead father. Jon meets Patti at bar where she is out with friends, coincidentally, two of whom work for him, while he is on a date with two other women. He chats with Patti -- but one of his "dates" shows up and he leaves. He can't stop thinking about her (even when he is with others) and she also thinks about him. Fate steps in and they meet up a second time -- I'm not going to go into details so as to not spoil it. Their relationship develops quickly -- but love at first or second sight can do that -- even if you don't recognize it for what it is. Jon is carrying around a lot of mental and emotional baggage from when he was younger -- and those issues are brought to Patti's attention in an unexpected way -- she is kind of blindsided by it. The characters at this point could have been more expressive emotionally but you get the idea of how they are feeling just not the depth.

This was a quick, easy read. There are some steamy scenes (walls, bathroom, etc.) so there is a great heat factor to this book.

There were some minor editorial and formatting issues that I am sure will be fixed prior to actual publication.

I was given ARC of this book for an honest review.

3 The Need for Speed Stars!

They say bad things come in threes, but for Patricia ‘Patti’ Jacobs the third was a much needed silver lining. Having caught her cheating boyfriend ramming into another woman, being let go after years of being a stellar employee, and getting rear-ended, Patti could not believe her luck or lack thereof. Not only did someone collide into her beloved muscle car, the offender happened to be none other than the hot guy she met at the club. The same hot guy with the velvet smooth voice that evoked delicious feelings in her body. The same hot guy who had two lady “friends” hanging on his arms while openly pursuing her. That same hot guy may just be her soul mate. Fate had a funny way of bringing people together.

Jonathan Bradshaw was the charming entrepreneur and proud owner of Bookish Temptations, a thriving publishing company. He was a natural ladies man and kept a steady flow of beautiful women in his bed, never getting close to any. His tragic past kept him from actively seeking more than just sexual escapades. Enter Patti, an unemployed accountant nursing a broken heart and spirit. At the firm request of her friend Jules, Patti joined her group of friends for a night of fun at a club. There, she had a brief encounter with Jon and he couldn’t seem to shake her image from his mind. His usual antics weren’t fulfilling his carnal desires, all he thought about was Patti. Sure, he’d barely met her but something about her awoke emotions within he didn’t think capable of having …not after that horrific accident that left him emotionally unavailable.

Crashing into Patti may not have been the best way to meet her again, but who was he to pass up that golden opportunity. Determined to get to know the intriguing woman, Jon proceeded to wine and dine her. Their courtship began and almost instantly shared an intense connection which lead to even more electrifying pleasure. Just when all seemed to be going their way, pasts come to light and endanger the nearly perfect bliss the couple shared.

What brings Patti solace, triggers horrible memories of Jon’s past. Having lost her father to an automobile accident didn’t diminish Patti’s love for all things cars and speed. Instead she embraced her love for fast cars in hopes of keeping her father’s legacy alive. Jon had already experienced his wild streak with cars, ending when tragedy struck and stole the love of his life. Can Patti learn to cope with life’s monkey wrenches without the infused high and tranquility speed offers? Will Jon put his demons to rest and surrender to love?

Surrender to Love is the third installment in J.C. Valentine’s Night Calls series. It is a standalone, but also includes characters from the previous books. While I enjoyed this story, I couldn’t help but compare it to its predecessor That First Kiss , which I absolutely loved! I realize that may be unfair, especially since it’s not a continuation of the second novel, however something felt off in this one. The plot seemed to be heading in a certain direction, given Patti’s job issue and so I had certain expectations. By the time they were met, we were in the epilogue which I felt was too late. To me, epilogues are supposed to be the icing on the cake, and in this case it made the story whole. Though I didn’t fall in love with the protagonists and I wanted to slap them around a bit at some point, they were likeable. I can’t deny the raw passion that jumped out from the pages. I look forward to reading Sheila and Tom’s story in the next installment.

J.C. Valentine never ever ceases to amaze me with her writing! She is just simply amazing and I can't get enough of her characters that seem to come to life off of the pages as you are reading. You can feel the emotions running through each character and you can't help but wonder what is going to happen next. I have to say as the series progresses each and every character has their flaws and hangups but they soon find that happiness they deserve.

J.C. quoted it right in the opening of Surrender To Love when she quoted “Never be afraid of a scar. It simply means you were stronger than whatever tried to hurt you.” ~Unknown

For Patti she misses her father everyday. She is in a rut with guys because she keeps picking these loser cheating mofo's. She has finally had it with her last boyfriend who she finds in bed with some other girl when he said he was working late. As if that was not the icing on the cake she is let go from her job where she has worked a long time. So depressed and staying at home not sure what to do Patti's friends make her go out to a club where she bumps into a guy at the bar. He is handsome and they exchange names and he helps her bring the drinks to the table where her friends are waiting. As soon as he approaches the table with her some of her friends recognize him as their boss and begin to talk to him. Then as they are talking two women approach the guy and ask him what he is doing because they have been waiting for him. As he looks at Patti again he realizes that she has a look of disgust on her face and does not look at him again. Patti refuses to look at Jon because she has sworn of cheating lying bastards for good and she refuses to budge on that. But there is something about Jon that draws her to him.

Jon is such a man whore doing what he wants when he wants with girls and getting away with it because they want a piece of him any way they can get it. He is living his life like a bachelor who does not care about anything except liquor and women. He is at the bar getting ready to have drinks when he sees Patti and is intrigued by her. He wants to get to know her and he starts to talk to her forgetting about the two girls he has waiting for him. But soon his wanting to get to know Patti is interrupted by the two girls he brought to the bar and he sees the look of disgust on Patti's face and he can't seem to comprehend it. He wants to go to her but she looks at him with a stern look and he halts in his tracks because he knows that look so well.

As time passes Jon can't get Patti out of his mind and he wants her. He is not sure why but he does and he is determined to get her. As Patti thinks back to the gorgeous guy at the bar she is curious about him but she does not want to get hurt again so she guards her heart with everything she has. Can these two overcome their hurts to let each other in or will Patti keep Jon far away from her heart? This is such a must read story that had me laughing and crying and rooting for this couple because they clearly love each other but the past has a funny way of ruining the future. Will Jon's past ruin the future........

Given by the author for an honest review for her Blog Tour

The Night Calls Series is one of the most entertaining and beautiful book series I’ve had the pleasure of reading! I loved That First Kiss (#2) and I enjoyed Stranded (#1) very much! So reading the third book was a no-brainer! I’ve got to say that the second book is my favorite by far..But the third book, as well as the first book, are really good! I enjoyed Surrender to love very much- I could not put it down!- but I didn’t love-love it..

JC Valentine’s writing was amazing, as always. The story was well built and very well written. She managed to write a book that is as hot as emotional. I also love the fact that all her books have a strong sense of reality. Yes they are fiction but they could be someone’s reality..I really love that! Plus, her characters are always so intriguing and interesting and amusing!! You always end up loving everyone, even though they are so different from each other! Finally, I would like to say that she introduced the next story/ pair of characters in a very beautiful way that I really liked!..Like she always does!..

The only reason why I didn’t rate it with 5 stars is that it’s not my favorite book from the series. So it wouldn’t be fair to rate That First Kiss the same with Surrender to love..

About our characters…

>>Patti is such a sweet and kind person, who loves too much and doesn’t always know how to let go. I loved her loyalty to her father, even though it often blinded her to some truths. She is a real spitfire! I also loved her constant contradictions..On the one hand, she is sweet and good and nice..On the other hand, she can be really intimidating and bitchy and a Don’t Fuck with me kinda girl…She is really awesome!

>>Jon is another contradiction himself. He seems so reassured and confident. However, he has low self-esteem that stems from his guilt. His guilt was drowning him and almost destroyed him, Patti and their lives. However, Patti’s unconditional love and unwavering devotion pulled him out of his misery and brought him into the light. He is thoughtful and sweet, but he is so sexy and hot and playful…Oh my..Some of the scenes were IN-FREAKIN-CREDIBLE!!

In conclusion, Surrender to love was another great story and amazing book written by JC Valentine! She does not disappoint, Ladies! She is one those “annoyingly” talented authors that make you buy everything they write, because you know it will be excellent..She’s a constant and I love her for that!

So,

If you’ve read the first books, this is honestly a no-brainer! It’s entertaining, emotional, serious and playful, romantic and hot, all at the same time!

If you haven’t read the first books, I suggest you read them all! It’s a great book series!

NOTE: You don’t have to read them in order (I read the second book first and it worked fine by me!)

Thank you J.C. Valentine for giving me this rare opportunity to read and write a review about one of your books. This is actually my first book of yours that I've read but this won't be last. I also found out that this is actually the 3rd book in the series, nevertheless, I really enjoyed this one. I'll be reading the first 2 books though to read the stories of Tate & Piper then Felix & Poppy. I met these characters in this book so I'm curious as well to know their background stories.

Patricia "Patti" Jacobs is a likeable heroine. She's feisty, smart, gorgeous and the fact that she can fix cars and loves car racing, totally make her even much hotter. No wonder, Jonathon "Jon" Bradshaw was mesmerized by her charms. Though Patti swore that she would stay away from men, after witnessing her then douchebag BF - Kyle, doing the deed with another woman. But after getting kicked-out of her job, finding a job is on the top of her priority now. Well, not until she bumped into Jon one night at the bar.

At first, I didn't like Jon. He's a walking definition of a man-whore. Women fall at his feet and leave them hanging after. But I loved how he transformed into such a swoon-worthy hero after meeting Patti. Well, as cliche as it sounds but it really does take meeting the right woman to turn a player like him into an honest man that he become now. But he pissed me off few times in the story. As much as I want to tell you what it is, I can't. You have to grab a copy of this book to find out.

Surrender to Love is a story between two people who found love, acceptance, healing and forgiveness in each other. It's brilliantly written with witty banters, great dialogues and wonderful cast of characters that would definitely keep you captivated from start to finish. The writer knows how to write steamy scenes, so damn hot it set my Ipad on fire...lol!

All in all, this is an enjoyable read. I highly recommend this book if you're into stories with perfect mix of angst, humor and steam. Would love to read the rest of the books in the series.

Again, thank you J.C. Valentine!

This was my favorite type of story. A nice light, romantic, feel good kind of story. Poor Patti is not doing so well at the beginning of the story, she has just walked in on her boyfriend having sex with someone else. Too bad that men are scum. Soon after this she looses her job. Now she is really feeling bad for herself.

Jon is the perfect playboy. A new girl every week, a real love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy. He likes his life this way, he is happy. Then his accountant quits on him. He goes out to a local bar with not one date but two in order to forget and have some fun. While there he flirts with a real cutie at the bar. Patti. She however, is not too happy when she realizes that he already has a date (or two) and is flirting with her. All men are scum. After he literally runs into the back of her car a few days later he convinces her to have dinner with him. He is falling for her and must prove to her that he is not the womanizer that she thinks that he is.

She has been hurt a few times already and is hesitant to start up a relationship with Jon. As they start getting closer to one another Jon is haunted by his past. He does not feel that he has the right to be happy, to enjoy his life. He lets the ghosts of his past come back to haunt him and they threaten this new found relationship.

Patti needs to be strong. She will need to find out if the love that she is beginning to feel for him is worth fighting for. Can she make his face his demons and memories. Can she help him to realize that he has the right to move on, to be happy, to have a life worth living again.

This story is part of a series by the author and I must admit that I have not read any of the others yet. It was super easy to read alone. I love the authors style of writing and found it captivating right up until the end. There were quite a few secondary characters that were nicely fleshed out and I would like to read more of her stories to learn more about them. It was definately a real feel good kind of story and I truly enjoyed it.

Those wanting a nice mix of romance and angst will get exactly that in Surrender to Love. It's an intensely emotional journey as two people let their pasts control their future. Through life altering events they realize the importance of moving on in a HEA that is full of tears and misunderstandings. All through the story though are numerous hot encounters amidst one or two cliched moments that left me frustrated along with a hero that's far from perfect.

Jon is still reeling from a devastating event in his past that has led to him closing parts of himself off. He's living his life for someone else as his personal form of punishment, not allowing any long-term happiness. He flits from one woman to another never letting himself get close which led me to see him in an unsavory light at first. He was a true player before he met Patricia and love definitely had him becoming more supportive and less guilt-ridden.

Patricia too is living her life for someone else after the death of her father has her embracing fast cars. She continues to be the daughter her father always wanted while alienating her mother. She's reckless which makes for a rocky road to happiness as Jon frowns upon that kind of behavior. I like that Patricia is strong-willed and doesn't let a man walk all over her. She sticks up for herself and isn't afraid to go toe to toe with Jon in an argument. An event happens late in the story though that greatly annoyed me in its soap opera nature and had me thinking that Patricia should've acted less like a flighty teenager and more like a modern woman.

Though I had a few issues with the protagonists they ultimately won me over as the healing power of love helped heal them and pointed them towards the future. The secondary characters, the friends to our main couple, were fun and very vocal in speaking their minds. They were supportive, playful in their banter, and easy to relate to. From start to finish this was an emotional story with lots of sexual encounters that felt like a soap opera at times but kept me fully invested in the outcome.

SURRENDER TO LOVE is the third instalment in J.C.Valentine’s contemporary, new adult, erotic Night Calls series. Although it is the third storyline it can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty. Several of the previous storyline characters are present but their presence or history is not confusing to the current story. This is Patti and Jon’s story.

The premise focuses on Patricia Jacobs as she suffers one of the worst weeks of her entire life-she caught her boyfriend in bed with another woman; she was fired from her job because of cut backs and redundancy; and someone rear-ended her car. And to make matters worse, the man who caused the accident is none other than the hottie she met at the bar a few days earlier. Enter Jonathon Bradshaw-the man who would break her heart and steal her soul.

Jonathon is a man possessed –he’s into fast women; nameless sex and golfing with his friends. The moment he meets Patricia, he knows she is the woman for him-but Jonathon hides a secret past and believes that he is not worthy of another woman’s love. When the truth is finally revealed, Jon will push Patti away only to realize that he may have made the biggest mistake of his life.

SURRENDER TO LOVE follows the developing relationship between two people who are lost: Jonathon flounders with a secret and the belief that there will never be anyone for him; and Patricia knows that life is about to change for them both regardless of Jonathon’s past.

J.C.Valentine writes an entertaining and emotional storyline that is predictable but one that has two people unable to move forward because of past regrets and sins; and the memories that have long been etched into their psyche. This is a story about moving forward and letting go of the past; forgiveness and acceptance; family and friends; finding love and starting over.

Patricia Jacobs (Patti) just can’t get a break. As if a cheating boyfriend isn’t enough, she also gets fired from her job as an accountant. And if that isn’t enough she gets rear ended by a handsome man named Jonathon Bradshaw. Ok, so the last thing is not that bad, especially not since he offers to take her out for dinner. Jonathon Bradshaw (Jon) is not a man who gets into serious relationships with women, well that is until he meets Patricia. There is just something about her that draws Jon to her. But Jon is afraid that she will run away from him when he reveals his past that is hunting him.

So first things first, I really love the cover of this book, it’s just so sexy and I totally see Jon and Patti looking like that when I read the book.

I really liked how the author introduced Jon and Patti. You immediately see their story and how they are as persons. Jon as the type of guy who goes from woman to woman, but is also dedicated to his business (well kind of, he’s not really the kind who is interested in long and boring meetings) and Patti as the kind of woman who is tired of all the dumb cheating guys that were in her life and of course her love for cars.

The emotions of the characters in this book were really pure. I felt for the characters, whether it were sad times or happy times. Furthermore, the steamy scenes were sexy and sweet, although those scenes in That First Kiss are still my favorite (I just love Piper and Tate :D).

I already said this in my review of That First Kiss, but I really love the concept where we can read what happened with the main characters of Stranded and That First Kiss! I really hope everything will be alright with Felix and Poppy!

So all in all a great read and the one-liners were to die for, I seriously laughed my ass off! :P

Surrender to Love is the third book in the Night Calls Series and once again is a very enjoyable read.

The plot dives in head first and continues at a good pace only slowing down when appropriate but has you eager to turn the pages. It’s well written, easy to read, contains great wit and expresses the emotions the characters are feeling very well.

A familiar and very likeable cast of characters is in this book, particularly if you have read the first two books in this series. This one centres around Patti and Jonathan’s story. Patti has just lost her job as an accountant and is taken out by her friends to a bar for a well needed girls night out which is where she meets Jon. Jon owns his own publishing company ‘Bookish Temptations’ and employs Patti’s friend Piper and her husband Tate. He is immediately drawn to Patti but his past holds him back. However after recently breaking up with her boyfriend Kyle, Patti is not so sure that Jon would be any different towards her. Thankfully he proves her wrong and they have a very steamy and fiery relationship that burns up the pages.

A few openings seemed to appear between the couple featured in the first Night Calls book “Stranded”. Poppy and Felix seem to be having some issues and I wasn’t sure where this was leading. Hopefully these will be addressed in future installments.

Overall, great read the series continues to improve with each book. So, if you like a steamy romance novel/series with strong female lead characters then I think you will enjoy this.

I rate this book 4 stars.

This book pulls you in the action right away – the cheating kind of action – with our female heroine ripping out of her cheating man’s driveway in her ’68 Pontiac GTO. And if her morning is not already going wrong, Patti finds herself sitting in her boss’s office after lunch only to be politely let go seeing as the company can no longer afford her workaholic tendencies.

Next we meet Jon – the playboy who can’t remember the name of the blonde in his bed. Happy to get rid of her without a promise of another time he saunters in to work; which happens to be his own publishing house. He receives his own set of bad news - his best account is leaving the company.

In a crowded bar while Jon is on a date with a blonde/brunette duo, he meets and makes a move on Patti. At first Patti is intrigued by the suave sweet talking male, after meeting his dates coupled with the memories of her cheating ex… well her image of him dwindles down.

Faith as a way to knock them back together – collide actually – Jon rams into her car, her baby – the one she re-built from scratch with her father. And what better way to kick-off a romance then muscle cars and hot bods.

I find that J.C. could have delved deeper in the emotional pool when secrets were uncovered and when Patti and Jon’s relationship takes on unexpected twists and turns, for me, it felt like I was only getting a glimpse – cursory one at best. I didn’t connect with the emotions that were trying to come across the page.

This could be me nitpicking here, but on a side note the editing is once again lacking with some repeated/omitted or out of order words here and there. All in all it was quick easy and fun read!

Patricia Jacobs has sworn of men and for good reason. When she literally runs into Jonathon she is not sure what to think of the handsome playboy. Jon isn’t really looking for a serious relationship at all. In fact he is with two other girls when he first meets Patti. However, right from the start Jon couldn’t stop thinking about Patti nor could he explain why she consumed his every thought. Patti isn’t convinced that Jon is boyfriend material but that doesn’t stop her growing feelings for him. Will she be able to admit that Jon has stolen her heart? Will Jon be able to triumph over his past that continues to haunt him or will he lose the one good thing that he ever had?

This is the third book that I have read that has been by J.C. Valentine and like the others this one did not disappoint me. I loved being able to continue reading the Night Calls series. Not only was it great being introduced to new characters, it was great seeing some of the past characters from the other two books as well. J.C. Valentine has a way of keeping the story lines fresh and intriguing. She also is very good at incorporating believable sex scenes. I would recommend reading Surrender to Love. You don’t necessarily have to read the Night Calls books in order but it defiantly gives you insight to some of the repeat characters. I have to say that I am looking forward to whatever J.C. Valentine has in store for us next.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Jon Bradshaw cannot let go of his past. In doing so, his life and bed are filled with an endless string of nameless women. He doesn’t allow anyone to get close. The kind of women he usually meets aren’t looking for more than a good time anyway. Then one night he meets Patricia Jacobs. Something about her pulls at him. However, being that he has two women hanging off him at the time, she dismisses him. But, he can’t get her face out of his mind.

Pattie has had it with men. They’ve been nothing but a sore spot with her. The only good man she has ever encountered has been her father and sadly he is now deceased. But life isn’t letting her give up just yet. Jon comes slamming back into her life, literally, giving him another shot at getting her attention. Only problem is with his hang-ups, how much of a future can they truly have?

Jon is holding on to some serious emotional baggage. Sadly, even though everyone in the know tells him it’s not his fault, he clings to the guilt of it. That guilt can be his undoing. While the romance was extremely whirlwind, it was fun and HOT watching Jon and Pattie get together. Pattie has a few issues of her own to deal with. Growing up she was always what her daddy wanted her to be. Now that he’s gone, she’s figuring out that may have not been the best decision and needs to figure out who she is now. Life once again intervenes and throws yet another curveball at these two. Everything works out in the end to give us a sweet, loving HEA, but the getting there is a bit rocky.

4.5 Paws!

Hummmmmmmmm now when I started this book, I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to like it. Because we have the typical womanizer man who meets girl and decides he’s going to change his ways overnight for her. Kinda seems like a normal book these days, but I have to say that I was completely shocked with how much I enjoyed this book!
I think that the reason why I liked it so much was Jonathon’s mom. I know that might sound crazy, but honestly the woman was cracking me up! And his father as well, oh my gosh I was reading those parts out loud to my mother because I couldn’t stop laughing. Don’t get me wrong, I did still enjoy Jonathon and Patti’s characters throughout the book, but his parents were just over the top.
The smutty in this book, was to die for. I am not kidding in the slightest. The chemistry between Jonathon and Patti was just off the charts amazing. And then when they are together it just seems to explode into massive thunder clouds over head. When you read this book, you will understand what I mean.
The ending of the book caught me off guard a bit, because I really didn’t see it coming. But that was a really good twist in my opinion. I think it added to the overall greatness of the story.
Trust me though, I can’t say enough about this book but I’m trying really hard to not spoil any of it for you! So please, do me a favor and read it so I have someone to talk to about it!!

So, I am a huge fan of J.C. Valentine’s Night Calls series. Really, if you haven’t read the first two go grab them. Having said that, it’s not necessary to do so to read this book. Each one stand on it’s own and is wrapped up with it’s own sweet HEA *sigh*

One with the review!

We start with Patti finding her boyfriend boinking a woman when Patti walks in on them. Talk about a bad day! Then she is let go from her job. Then she goes for drinks and meets Mr. Manwhore Jon who is hanging out with not one, but two lovely bimbos.
Then she is rear-ended.
By Jon.

Sparks fly, connections are obvious and they are headed towards happy ever after. Add in some steamy sex scenes and all is going great!

Until it’s not.

You knew that was coming, right? We can’t just have a happy book…there has to be drama!

Anyway, yes…we get the drama. In the form of Jon’s past that haunts him and he can’t forgive himself for. Even though he was young and stupid…he has tremendous guilt over an event from the past and feels like he doesn’t deserve happiness. So he pushes away any chance of happiness he has.

Thankfully Patti is a spitfire and calls him on his BS.

Until she can’t.

And then there is a twist. That throws them both for a loop!

Will they make it? (well, duh! ) But it certainly takes some work to get there!

All in all, this was an entertaining read that made me smile. And really, that’s just what the doctor ordered sometimes!

Night Calls Series #3

I am honoured to read and review an ARC copy of this book for J C Valentine.
I was emersed into the story, it's fast pace kept me reading.
It was like watching the hot bad ass trying to explain that very woman is a mistake except you---bull crap. The woman is this scene knows she caught him dead to rights with another woman --really legs wrapped around -- all a mistake sorry loser she has more respect for herself. In this first chapter I was high fiving-Patricia. Way to go, girl!

Patricia finds herself without a man and job, deciding to give up on the men and take time finding a new job. She soon finds a man appearing in her life-Jon.
Jon an emotionally close off playboy, mets Patricia and cannot get her out of his mind. Finds himself changing his way just to be with her.
Both have past lives that come with anguish and pain. Can each get past their past to build a future together?

I loved this story, I felt all the emotions.
I was sitting in a doctors office when I was reading chapter 21, I had to hold the back the tears that suddenly formed in my eyes taking a deep breath I continued very emotional.

I loved that the characters have true emotions, doubts and guilt and that they find a way to overcome their past to more forward.

I has happened to me before this is the third story in the Night Calls series. J.C. Valentine has a new fan, know I will be finding and reading the first and second of the series.

Again I find myself telling you how ridiculously awesome J.C. Valentine is. I really really enjoyed Jonathon and Patricia. They worked so incredibly well together, it was addictive. I couldn't wait for the next scene to come. And let me say this as well, J.C. does not disappoint in the whole ... wait, WHAT? ... moments! This story will twist and it will turn but in the end it will go straight :)

SO, because of all the twist that take place in the story, it's really hard to tell you anything about the book because it ALL has to be experienced in the moment or it looses something. But that's the greatest thing, in my opinion. When I read a book where I find myself at a loss for words because every time I think of something to say I realize it reveals something I shouldn't to a new reader, it's one of the highest compliments I could give to the author. Everything that happens means something. It is ALL connected to a greater good. But I CAN tell you this .... this story is not only sexy hot but heart-warming and emotional. It's also a story true to life. When you read it, you can very easily put yourself into the book as if it is all happening to you. Because it can. It's relatable fiction. AND IT'S AWESOME. So just #TRUST and one-click away because I am rarely wrong :)

Patricia (Patti) Jacobs fines herself out of luck with men then her job. Jonathon(Jon) Bradshaw has a past that haunts him everyday of his life. When these two meet or should I say collide everything changes for both of them.

This book allows you to connect strongly with both MCs. Patricia is a very strong willed women living life on the edge and takes risks. Yes she had insecurities after her bad luck with men. But she still puts on a brave face and pushes on. Jonathon may come off as a cold bastard when it comes to women but we get to see that he really does have a heart. With these two it really all starts out as lust that turns in to something that neither one of them expects.

I what really pulled me into this book was all the secondary characters in the book. There are really tight friendships with Patti. But I really adored the relationship between Jon and his parents.

Books with to much drama really turn me off. This book gives you just the right amount, we get to see really issues that couple do go through it wasn't the over the top nonsense.

Over all the author does a really good job pulling you into the story and makes to want to cheer these characters on and be apart of their circle of friends

I've enjoyed this series quite a bit so far. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but it's always fun to catch up with characters from the other books, and I feel like I get a little more out of each book when I've read the others.

Patti has had a rough time lately. She is let go from her job and finds her boyfriend is cheating on her within a short period of time. She is trying to get her life in order, when she meets Jon. Jon seems to have all the qualities she is looking for, but she isn't sure how to trust any man besides her father. Jon is attracted to Patti in a serious way, but he has his own issues, and doesn't want a serious relationship with anyone.

Patti is a likable character and I was really hoping that things would work out for her. She sticks up for herself when she needs to, and is a great friend to those she cares about. Jon is a bit of a mess. He is hot, successful, and attentive to Patti when he puts his mind to it. He is also disorganized and obviously stuck with a lot of old guilt that has him behaving in ways that make it difficult to relate to him at times. His family is very supportive and it was clear that if he could work through his issues, he could be very happy with Patti. 3.5 stars I will gladly read more by this author in the future.

Surrender to Love is about Patti Jacobs and Jon Bradshaw. It starts with Patti having one hell of a bad day. She literally walks in on her boyfriend cheating on her and then later loses her job. Jon doesn’t do serious relationships because of a serious accident in his past. He has a series of on night stands that don’t require he remembers their name the next morning. When Jon and Patti first meet there’s an instant connection, but the timing isn’t right. But when they literally crash into each other again, sparks fly and they embark on a whirlwind romance with a few speed bumps along the way.

This book had a good amount of steamy scenes, along with some drama. The characters are very relatable. The story kept me hooked. Probably the only problem I had was close to the end, at the point of will they or won’t they work things out and be together, it felt a little predictable.

This is part of the Night Call series, but can be read as a stand alone. For those that have read the other Night Call books, there are a few appearances by the main characters in the other books. And it is nice to see where they are in their relationships as well.
