Italy: Liberalism and Fascism 1870-1945
Placing events in context, the author provides a comprehensive account of the rise of fascism and Mussolini's regime until its fall in 1945. Expanded coverage is given to the attraction of fascism for different sectors of Italian society, the fascist political system, and an analysis of the regime's social policies including its attitude towards the role of women, culture, and propaganda. The text concludes by drawing relevant comparisons between more recent developments in Italy and the period between 1870 and 1945.

Thanks to the book, I learnt a lot about Italian political situations from late 19th century to late 20th century. The book also gave a brief picture of European countries and the world during WW1 and WW2. I found Mussolini's life quite interesting. It was also scary to see how the man could climb from a small journalist to a leader of Fascist Party in just few years. The world situation at the time gave him an advantage to do that too but it was down a lot to his political skill. And I wish the world scenario won't create another political profile like that in near future. We already have so much problems to deal now.
