Apparently there are Swamp Monsters, well swamp people( they are people too) in PA.
This story is about a group of kids who have to make a project for school. They decide to make a movie. A horror movie that is. Mu-ah ah ah!
They decide the spookiest place in town is the swamp. Making the film is a disaster. Nothing goes right and they all leave feeling this was their shot and it wont go according to plan. Raymond is suppose to be the monster and he just falls into the swamp.
Verna goes and watches the film but notices something in the background. Can it really be? Why? Yes it is. It's a swamp monster.
She shows Raymond the film and he cant believe his eyes and he knows just who to contact about this. J. Huntley English M.H. The MH stands for Monster Hunter. They explain the situation and then they decide to go hunting at night for the monster. They only thing they discover is a bearded man who says hes fishing. So, they leave with no leads.
Verna's mom works at a bank and while they were walking past they seen there good friend being arrested. He is charged with stealing a large sum of money. Everyone is tore up about this because he is a good guy.
Well, this is deeper then I thought it was going to be. A lot of underhanded things go down and the robbery and the Swamp monster are connected. I won't say more and ruin the swampy goodness of a surprise.
I liked this book. I bought this for the cover. It's very eye catching. Really wasn't expecting much from this. But, I really have to say that I enjoyed this. And that shocked even me. What I was expecting was a horrible horror story that left you with nothing. Nothing is really as it seems apparently.

Overall, the book was good, having an amazing plot that has twists and turns. The book also includes many problems that the characters have to face. Having more and more problems is kinda like the climax of the story since Raymond and his friends have a lot of things to catch up with. But there is one thing that personally I don't like that much. I just don't like the old-fashioned style the author chose. I'm more of a modern mystery person, not like the person who loves old-fashioned books. Otherwise, I loved the book and recommended it to many people, especially to people who like the style that the author chose in this book.

A fun little mystery for kids, but not much more. And so dated. I can't imagine today's kids having that much freedom. And honestly, though I'm all in favor or a long leash, this just doesn't make sense for sixth grade, imo. LFL find.

Eh. The premise of the book is okay. Kids get assigned a school project and decide to make a monster movie, only things don't go as planned. But do they ever? Short story, predictable course of action. Not bad.
