Relationships SUCK. That is with a capital S. U. C. K. in case anyone was wondering.
My life used to be so simple. Get a call, grab my guns, kill someone. Now, I run my own business where I have to actually try to be nice to clients, even if they are total jerks. That is quite a feat considering I would be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, if I ever bothered to visit a shrink.
This week, in life as I know it, I find myself in a constant battle with a jerk of a werewolf mate, still in love with my vampire mate, and trying to figure out why demons smell like strawberries. Or at least one demon in particular. Please shoot me if I become associated with more than one.
I can assure you the life of Nyx Slaughter is never dull and you don't want to miss a minute of it.
This is book two in the Nyx Slaughter series. It is a companion book to the third book and will lead right into the next book.
I have always had a passion for the written word. Along with that, I've always had ideas for stories swimming around in my head. It finally got to the point where I couldn’t take it anymore and had to start getting my thoughts down on paper. There are still too many ideas, but I am working to get them out as fast as I can. My hope is that one day my brain will be mine again.
Other hobbies of mine include: drawing, baking, arts and crafts, motorcycles, hockey and archery. I like to think I have eclectic tastes where my hobbies are concerned. I love to laugh and try to make myself smile at least once a day. With the crazy thoughts going on in my head that usually isn't hard.
The events in this book take place only two weeks after those in Book 1, "Night Calls". As a welcome change, background details are revealed slowly, and not all at once as is the case in most sequels. This book focuses more on the relationship developing between Nyx and Alex, leaving Sebastian to play a secondary role this time around.
Nyx has a new case: recovering a missing human girl and delivering her kidnapper to the girl's parents for retribution. But all is not as it seems. Along the way, Nyx encounters Ben, a demon who marks her as his, thus the title of this episode. Also thrown into the mix is Phee, a young girl whom Nyx takes under her wing. We also see the return of an old enemy.
Once again, Nyx's story is told with humor in Nyx's unique voice. And again the dialogue is somewhat stilted, with a distinct lack of the use of contractions. The author should try reading her dialogue aloud to try to make it sound more natural. Still, this is an interesting story, with likable characters and a great pace. This book ends on a cliff-hanger, leaving it open to the sequel, "Night Bites".
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP).
Poor Nyx, nothing seems to be easy for her. But when she's a trained assassin, there's really nothing that gets her down. Well, except maybe being "committed" to a vampire and a werewolf, through a weird connection and all. But, she takes it in stride. That is until she accepts a job, to find a human, that was thought to be abducted, by her parents. Then, throw in a demon and all hell breaks loose (no pun intended.)
"Oh look, they made it in," he says turning to the door as Alex and Sebastian rush in. Want to bet that he let them through on purpose so he didn't have to answer my question? "Very interesting choice in men, my dear." He waves his hand probably expecting something to happen, but they both keep advancing. "Oh darn, they are too connected to your soul. To freeze them, would freeze you as well. I guess we will have to talk later. Tootles."
And just like that he is gone.'
Love this series so far! Very light hearted and comical. Characters are fun to read and throw in the demon for some more fun. I can't wait to read the next installment!
This book is better written than the first book in the series, in my opinion. The emotions are better to understand and you can connect with the characters on a much better level.
The reason I still only give 3 out of 5 stars is that sometimes, it still is hard to understand why a character suddenly switches moods and gets upset or happy.
However, I like the way the story progresses and how the complications in the relationships are dealt with in a comical manner. Nyx, Sebastian, and Alex make quite the trio.
I recommend this book to those who read the first one and do enjoy vampire/werewolf series. This is NOTHING like the famous Twilight series, so no worries to those who did not enjoy that series.
*I received this book for free from the author for my honest review.*
I loved this book just as much as I loved the first book in the series, Night Calls - Nyx Slaughter Book 1!! It picked up where book one left off and had just as much non-stop, intense action & suspense to it as the first book did! I love the character development and the plot that the author has put into this series! There are always more twists & turns than I anticipate. I highly recommend reading this series!

This series is getting even better I love Sebastian not too sure about Alex yet as he can be a little annoying at times but I'm sure he means well. So not just a werewolf and a vampire in the mix now it seems a demon seeks Nyx's attention she is one busy lady. Still plenty of action as now Nyx is on her own but still manages to get in lots of trouble and don't you just love it when her two knights in shining armour come to her rescue.
On to the next one can't wait to find out what happens!!
I recieved a free copy of this for a honest review......
After I finished the 1st book - I quickly moved onto this one. I found this to be a great read - with a quick and fun continuation of Nyx's story. I still love the setting, as it seems to be quite different to a lot of other paranormal series.
The characters continue to intrigue - as does the storyline. Wonderful addition to the series. Cant wait to see how things continue for the characters.
Both the characters and the author seem to grow in this 2nd book in the Nyx Slaughter series. I enjoyed the development in the relationships and was surprised by a few twists that were thrown in. The pacing this time is much better than the first book and we get to see more details of the world.

So this book picks up where Night Calls left off. It is a good but a short read. It's nice that the heroin knows who she is without being too soft or too BA. The story line definitely has some twists and turns to keep the reader engagaed. Once again, book 2 ended on a cliffhanger and I was glad I had book 3 to start right away.
Nyx Just isnt have a good time of it trouble follows her everywhere she gose. She has 2 men a werewolf and a vampire who both want her and then a human is thrown into the mix. Wow again I am amazed how this series is turning out I am not one to throw out any spoilers but I have to say Nyx is one heck of a warrior. She gose thew so much just to find happiness. Another great read Amber Lynn....
