This is a contemporary romance erotica short story.
I think the author took on too big of a subject for such a short story. The transition in the story of the main female character being seriously frightened of men because of an abusive past, to suddenly accepting one was too quick & unrealistic to me. I think it would have worked better if the author showed it was something she was getting over or went through counseling for. But we don’t get any of that in the story, so it just didn't work for me.
I’m giving this short story two stars because it wasn't all bad, but it’s not something I’d recommend.

What's a girl to do?
After I read just the first two lines of Ms Lawrence's story I immediately thought, this is freakin' hot! I continued to read and it's not just the sex scenes that is written well. It is how Ms Lawrence subtly introduces Carly's internal conflict that you can't help but feel compassion for Carly. About her apprehension of learning to trust again. Of how someone's verbal abuse can make someone so beautiful feel so unattractive. It is very difficult to feel worthy of someone's love if all you hear day in day out is how unworthy you are.
And it takes a real man who believes in the very essences of that woman to make her appreciate herself again. For Carly it is Robert.
A truly hot read, Ms Lawrence does not mince words from the very beginning. The sex between Carly and Robert is sizzling, the feeling for each other beautifully expressed in the fusion of their bodies.
If you want a hot weekend read, or something you could return to over and over again, Hot Dreams of a Lonely Soul is one story that should be on your permanent reading list.

Carly's erotic dreams of her boss, Robert, become reality when he shows up at her door one night after she's awoken by one of those dreams.
While this debut from Emily Lawrence is a short story/novella, it is filled with passion and emotion and I was left wanting much more . . . I just know there's GOT to be more for Carly and Robert.

This was an incredible read! I loved Robert and Carly separately as characters. But when they get together they set the story on fire! Ms. Lawrence does an incredible job bringing the reader into one very hot story. Can't wait to read more!

This is a short story/novella and I so wish it wasn't! It was a very quick read but full of emotion! I'm looking forward to reading more from Emily A. Lawrence! !

I just don't like short stories!
No beginning. way too short. With no connection to the main characters things did not come across as believable, in fact, they came across as just plain weird. The story as a whole would have made a very good scene in a full length novel. It just needed to be fleshed out.

2.5 Star...I get it that the dream man because a reality but I didn't like the fact that she told him to leave and no many times yet he ignored her. I was hoping for a little more than what the book have.

If you like a story with a lot of sex and very little storyline then this book is for you. You just barely get to know the characters before they're doing the horizontal tango. However, to be fair it is a short story.
