WOW! This was a Great book! Lara stumbled across a guy being murdered. The murderer made Lara his next target. There was only one person she could turn to for help. That was Davis, her ex fiancé. This book had a very suspenseful plot. The action kept me on the edge of my seat, and the romance was tender. What broke this couple up, was filled with pain, and emotion that pulled at my heart. When Davis was protecting Laura, you could feel the love that he felt for her. This book is going on my list of books to be read again!

Sample from chapter 2
As the attacker stepped inside, a flood of tension filled the air. Davis kicked out, trying to catch the door and knock it into the guy’s head. Maybe make him drop the gun. The attacker was quicker. He caught the edge and slammed it shut behind him. Davis reached for his weapon and touched only the cotton of his towel. No gun, not even any pants. The closest weapon was hidden across the room by the fireplace. That left few options. He dived for the attacker’s stomach. The guy groaned as he crashed into the door and Davis smashed his hand against the knob. Heavy breaths echoed through the room as each threw punches and aimed kicks. Davis landed awkward because he his position and the need to keep the barrel of that gun aimed at the empty center of the room. He slammed the guy once then twice into the hardwood, but he didn’t drop the weapon. Barely looked winded. The guy’s knee came up, catching Davis in the jaw.
Sample from chapter 15

But just once she wanted one of these guys to suggest calling in the police, the fire department – heck, even the coast guard when something went wrong. They ignored the rules the rest of society followed for this sort of thing. To her, dialing 911 was a no brainer. Maybe clunking their heads together would help.

Very good book with plenty of action and emotion. When Lara stumbled onto a murder scene she ran to the only person she knew who could protect her - her ex-fiance. This was intense right from the beginning. After Lara fled from the first attack to Davis's house for help, they were under constant threat. I really enjoyed seeing all the things that went into keeping them safe. I also found the mystery of who was behind it all fascinating to discover. I loved seeing the research they did and how hard they all worked to figure it out. It was especially satisfying to have Lara figure out what they were searching for. The final confrontation was very good with an interesting twist. I loved meeting all of the team members and look forward to their stories.

The rekindling of the romance between Lara and Davis wasn't hard. They had never stopped loving each other but there were some serious issues that they had to deal with. Lara loved Davis but was tired of his job keeping them apart. It seemed to her that everything else held more importance to him than she did. When she called him in tears needing him to come home he told her it would be a few days so she would have to wait. That was the last straw and she left him. During the current crisis she begins to see what he does and it opens her eyes somewhat. She realized that she had been trying to change the essence of who he was.

Davis had always loved Lara, but he found it hard to open up about some things. He never talked about his work to Lara, even the parts that could be shared. He and his brother had been orphaned young and were passed around to various relatives, never having a real family outside of each other. He had no problem with the idea of commitment to Lara and a life together but he had trouble understanding what her issues with him were. I loved it when his boss told him "You might want to go back over everything and see what you missed. There has to be a reason she gave up on you." He was floored when he found out why and finally began to see where he had gone wrong. I loved the way they finally came together.

If you're looking for some fast-paced action and adventure in your romance, this one is pretty fun. After some mediocre reads, this was an entertaining "second chance at love" story. Davis Weeks and Lara Bart had once had a good relationship going, but Davis' Special Ops career came between them as Lara just could not handle the demands that came with the job and the emotional upheavals related to being left alone when she needed him there the most.

Even after breaking up, though, Davis still looks out for Lara. This ends up saving her life while she's out at work one day. Lara works for a contractor who conducts security clearance interviews. Sent to interview a high-ranking nominee's college roommate on what appears to be a rush job, Lara walks in on the roommate's murder and narrowly misses being killed herself.

In a panic, Lara goes running to the first safe person she can think of - Davis. From there, Lara and Davis band together trying to find out exactly who is after them. They scarcely get a moment to contemplate the situation, though, because the bad guys are after them all the way. Still, somehow in the midst of trying to stay alive, the two manage to clear the air somewhat with regard to the stresses that tore them apart. It's obvious, too, that the old love and chemistry are still very much there.

The suspense plot is pretty over-the-top, but that's par for the course with a lot of the special ops romances I read. The private group of good guys banding together to carry out super sekrit missions has been totally overdone, but Davis and friends are all likeable enough and I found myself getting completely sucked into the action. If you're just looking for a fun, fast-paced read, this isn't a bad choice at all.

**HelenKay is a personal friend so take this review how ever you’d like**

This was a really fun, exciting read! After stumbling on to a murder scene Lara suddenly becomes a target. Working as a pencil pusher doesn’t give her the experience needed to continue to run for her life so she turns so her former fiancé, Davis, for help. They both try hard to hide the fact that they still have feelings for each other, well, not very hard. Davis never understood why Lara left him but he’ll do anything and everything to protect her and win her back. I loved how well woven the love story was with the action, and there’s some great action! Ms. Dimon kept the reader guessing on who the bad guy really was and who Davis and Lara could trust. I also enjoyed how Lara recognized her strengths and limitations and didn’t try any TSTL moves but was able to assist Davis and the team in her own way. A really good read a great introduction to a new series.

Fast paced. Great writing. The story starts about NCIS, An old secret among influential people that are old friends, a marriage that wasn't what it seemed, an assistant that did more than what anyone thought. A woman who knew she knew she could always rely on her former fiancé, a man who never stopped loving his former fiancé and would do anything for her.

HelenKay weaves in action, romance, teamwork, nosy neighbors, love of brothers, and a relationship that was destined to always be in a way that easy to read and is enjoyable!

Highly recommend and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

HelenKay Dimon knows how to pack a lot into a story! Davis Weeks comes from foster care into becoming a top agent for DIA and now the Corcoran Team. His love is Lara Bart but she has broken up with him. Now she suddenly finds herself running from people who want to kill her. She shows up at Weeks' house and he does his job splendidly. You can't help but root for Davis and Lara to make it.

THIS WAS A RATHER IMPACTFUL STORY, AND I ENJOYED EVERY SECOND OF IT.

Long story short:

The CHARACTERS are separated and after being attacked, Lara goes back to find her ex fiance to protect her in a way and help her. The flames of their love has not cooled and this time they are both forced to face the reasons they broke up and needed the time to reconcile, heal and set aside old misunderstandings.

OVERALL it was a smooth read that I was glad about how normally estranged lovers would bicker like two lil bitches but Lara and her man was rather sweet, except for the much needed arguments, they were both obviously still very much in love with each other.

I have only just recently discovered HelenKay Dimon, and I'm really glad that I did. Playing Dirty was my first (great cover and great story). Likewise, I enjoyed meeting the Corcoran Team in Fearless. Davis and Lara were engaged not that long ago (so no insta-love) and come back together when Lara's life is in danger. There's lots of action, intrigue, and fiery romance as the two reunite. Davis's colleagues in the Corcoran Team are interesting and fun to read, as are the interactions amongst the team members. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

In Dimon’s romantic suspense novel, Davis Weeks worked undercover for the Corcoran Team and that was his priority in life. Lara Bart had been his fiancée until the job got in the way and they separated. After showing up at his door with a gunman on her heels, Davis knew he had no choice but to protect Lara and doing so, he had to battle all the feelings for her he had suppressed.

Nice introduction to the Corcoran Team series.

Solid romantic suspense. Hero and heroine behaved a bit stereotypically and their conflict was a little meh. Pretty creepy bad guy, and good group dynamics.
