I realize fake dating the guy who bullied me in high school is a bad idea, but it’s better than my ex thinking I’m still hung up on him.
I’ll pretend to be Adrian Hunter’s girlfriend for one week while we’re stuck at this island wedding together.
I won’t think about how we used to be best friends or how he’s the first guy I ever loved.
I won’t kiss him or sleep with him like I’ve always wanted to.
I certainly won’t let myself fall in love with him again.
I’ve been Adrian Hunter’s fake girlfriend for one day. He’s more gorgeous than I remember and tells me he misses me. These rules are going to be hard to follow.
Fake Dating Adrian Hunter is a steamy romance filled with hijinks and humor. It's the first book in the Celebrity Fake Dating series, and can be read as a standalone..
Honestly I’m surprised this was written in this year. Like why are we still slut shaming?
Even though the fucking boyfriend cheated, verena just has to call the girl with whom he cheated a slut, because of what? That was a instant blow to me and I really had to convince myself to read further because I just hate slut shaming.
Then Adrian and verena finally sort of got together with the whole fake dating and then Darius appears. And verena finds it a good idea to let Adrian think that she sleeps with Darius, which she doesn’t. And then she is wondering why Adrian has the GODDAMN NERVE to say that he has lunch with his ex, but verena is just so conveniently forgetting that she is rubbing Darius in his face, like wtf was Adrian supposed to do when nobody tells him that it isn’t true. And miss verena is then mad at Adrian for not telling her his feelings. Like girl why you sending mixed signals.
When I saw I still had to read around 30% I just stopped because no.
And why does this author write such horrendous characters? Stacy (very original name for a mean girl) is just mean for the fact of being mean, the girl that Zac is married to is just disrespectful. Like do we hate women?
Also, Verena is very stuck in the past. Constantly saying like no don’t bring it up. Like I get that it was hard for you, trust me I understand, but I think that 7 years later you can kinda let go of the past.
I wish I liked this more but I didn’t. It was really dreadful and predictable.
O shit I just saw that in the description it literally says ‘for the fans of the Spanish love deception’ HELL NOOO. Don’t disrespect my book. This book literally isn’t anywhere near TSLD.
3.5⭐️ uhm, so the couple and their story, I actually liked them. But everyone else was insufferable, such awful dickheads - except for Darius! We love Darius ❤️ also I will definitely pick up Zac‘s book
PS: this book absolutely lacked the dual pov! i just read the bonus chapter from Adrians pov and it was so good! it would have been so much better to get more of his insight in the book
This book was A TOTAL MESS!! Most of the characters were insufferable at the best of times, not all characters were fully developed (in my mind) and the story line was mediocre-with an attempt of enemies to lovers really just being a result of miscommunication from 7 years ago and grudges still being held.
This books’ main themes were obviously miscommunication and cheating, which were featured in almost every chapter and no doubt made this book worse. This book lacked a dual POV, and I think it would have been significantly better if we were given Adrian’s POV in key scenes (which would have also solved some of the miscommunication). Vee seemed spoilt and even though seemingly an outcast, she really wasn’t (??) but I loved her family and Darius’s dynamics.
I absolutely hate every character in this book 😬 they are all grown ups but can't seem to communicate with each other like adults. After a while, I was like oke maybe it will be alright. But then she starts fake dating her best (gay) friend to make her other fake dating partner jealous? You totally lost me at that 🤣
I received and ARC of this book in exchange for a review. And I feel kinda bad that this is gonna be the first GR review of this.
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS.
What I didn't like: 1. Coviluted yet predictable storyline - Faking dating someone to make the guy you're fake dating jealous. Okay I haven't read that before but it was kind of sloppy.
2. Jake - A but farfetched for Verena's ex-boyfriend to be at this wedding. He just happens to he dating a friend of her future SIL that lives in Alaska when he lives in NY? I don't buy it.
3. Dislikable side characters- I couldn't even stand her sister, who I think we're supposed to like. Have a little gratitude for your sister who pain for your entire extravagant Australian wedding AND designed you a $50,000 wedding dress.
4. I understand how Verena's career played into the plot, but I just did not like her being a reality show star. Just a designer would have been better.
What I did like: 1. Verena and Adrian were enjoyable. I actually have no complaints about Adrian, which honestly is rare with MMCs.
2. The writer did do a good bait and switch to really make you believe the two characters hated each other in high school.
3. I was able to sit and focus on this book without getting distracted and the writing was good, so the book was strong enough in that regard.
So overall the book isn't bad, there was just nothing special about it.

Was it good? Yeah. Great? No. Kinda predictable and I was starting to get frustrated at the end if they didn't fix things 😭. I don't mind her gay bsf helping her make him jealous but I hate when authors write about the fmc outing their friend to the mmc to calm him down after making him jealous. Because it was stated in the beginning he wasn't out and she blabs her mouth to her love interest. The smut was good and plot plotted. I enjoyed the book just the outing her bsf ticked me off.
i had so much fun with this book, but the second half wasn’t nearly as entertaining as the first because the couple got together so quickly and tried to make the other one jealous. i mean, it was amusing but didn't need to be. tension between them would've hit so much better.
Absolutely hated both main characters. Adrian was a whiny 3 year old and Verena was so mean and disrespectful to her family, especially her sister Tori. I mean, it’s Tori’s wedding and she has specifically asked you not to steal the spotlight and Verena does exactly that like 10 times in a week. I love Tori an Phoebe but they definitely deserved better.
I feel like it was written in such a rush because the explanation for them “hating” each other when they were young was shit and the miscommunication was so unrealistic and was kind of just skipped over like an afterthought.
Oh and you’re really telling me that Verena never had anyone else than Adrian call her Vee? That’s such a basic nickname that surely someone has to have called her that before.
This book so chaotic but I absolutely enjoyed it 😂🙌 at one point there was like 3 or 4 fake relationships going on involving the two main characters - it gave total Friends “they don’t know that we know that they know” vibes, but it was very entertaining and definitely never dull.
i don’t like how the chemistry was built on solely sexual attraction and the storyline was so typical i don’t know what i was expecting. i finished it in a day though so it’s getting 1.25 stars ( rounding up to 1) and it hopefully pulled me out of my reading slump
It was a good plot. Adrian was okay and so was Verena.
I hated Tory though. Fucking ungrateful cunt. With shitty friends. With a wife who has shitty friends. Shitty people all around. Don’t get me started on the way she treated verena. She’s a ficking celebrity ofc she’s gonna have people trailing her. Get the fuck over it bridezilla. You didn’t have a problem with her fame when it was able bankroll a lavish wedding for you. Or make you a 50k dress. Get the fuck outta here. Again. Ungrateful cunt.
I hate the fact that they all made fun of Verenas trauma too. Girl went through it and no one cared. She had proper trauma from school because people made fun of her ofc she wanted to get the fuck out. Her family probably meant no harm but when there’s outsiders like bitchy Stacy and clueless Nia, she’s obviously going to feel attacked. Ugh. Make it stop.
Okeyyyyy I liked this a lot, like a lottttt ❤️🔥 this was for me a really well written book with fake dating trope that I have read in a while ❤️
It was definitely better than the second book the only BIG bad thing about this book is that it was only one pov…. sad 🥲 buttttt I didn’t mind it that much surprisingly 💁♀️ butttt still I would loveeeee to have at least 5 pov from Adrian 😏 the man is hott… 🥵
I adore Verena so much she’s a queen 👸🏻 Ohhh and Zac idk know why but the dude is kinda funny in this book lol 😆 Let’s not forget about Darius, fabulous, talented, give him the best friend award 🥇
Skyla Summers dedicated her book "To the gatekeepers who have said no to me 400+ times."She also wrote "I’ll make my own luck." I instantly decided that I liked her.
Fake Dating Adrien Hunter was an entertaining read :) Skyla Summers added an interesting little twist to the conventional fake dating trope. I'll quote a passage of the book that sums it up pretty well "There’s some serious next-level scheming and double-crossing going down".
There’s nothing much for me to say about this book, other that it was fun reading it, but I NEED to say that the way female characters interacted with each other and treated each other in this book was just beautiful. That was the most feminist thing I've ever read in a romance book. Well done, Skyla !
Firstly, the name Verena Virginia Valentine had no reason to make me laugh so much Secondly, fake dating someone to make your fake date jealous?? what on earth was that about? i was this close to screaming at the book because it was so UNECESSARY and FRUSTRATING. like come on, this all could've been solved with a simple conversation. And then Adrian started pitching in with this "double scheming" and crossovers but it was just so blatantly OBVIOUS he liked Verena and Verena liked him.. Nevertheless, I actually kinda enjoyed it heheh

What can I say about this book. Let’s start how it is written very well. The female character is A strong and ambitious career seeking woman who was wronged by her boyfriend. As she travels for her wedding she realize that she is going to meet someone from her pass she rather forget. As the book progress it get way more interesting and spicy. Without giving too much away let’s just say that the main character grows and accepts things in the time she needs. The main male character is to gorgeous for himself and the chemistry that the two have can not be ignored. Skyla did an amazing job with this book and can’t wait to see what else she comes up with.
I loveeee this book! I thought it was so cute and a little spicy. I loved the relationship and how it all played out. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I hated how much they embarrassed the main character.
Super cute book with all the tropes: forced proximity, fake dating, wedding party, enemies to lovers, childhood friends. Adorbs. Also steamy! Loved the slow burn. Only one POV.
