"[...] La desgracia ha hecho el alma de la reina semejante a su rostro. Ya no hay sonrisa ni luz en su interior. Todo se ha extinguido; pero todo se ha apaciguado también en una lúgubre serenidad. De la reina, de la mujer, solo queda la viuda".

Seré breve: es un buen libro para descubrir más a fondo la vida de la última reina de Francia, aka María Antonieta (igual de una manera un poco idealizada por parte de los autores, no lo sé. No soy historiadora, por lo que no puedo juzgar este aspecto de la novela), pero la narración ha hecho que le baje bastantes puntos a la nota porque en muchos aspectos me ha resultado muy liosa. Esto me pasaba sobre todo con los personajes históricos, los cuales son muchos y la mayoría se presentan de manera demasiado abrupta, lo que ha hecho que me cueste recordar en más de una ocasión quién era quién. Había algunos que incluso se mencionaban de la nada y luego no volvían a aparecer. Sin embargo, me ha gustado mucho descubrir más aspectos de la vida de María Antonieta que no fueran los de su muerte, lo que ha hecho que esté bastante entretenida a pesar de los puntos negativos que he ido comentando.
