The Dark Queen has escaped her prison and Cassandra was the one who opened the door. Now Cass wants nothing more than to be the one to kill her. Quintus, Lucius and Na’min all promise to help, but she knows it will come down to her to do the deed. She wants it to be her. Mab has killed Declan, her mate and best friend and she threatens to spread her venom to the human world. Cassandra feels responsible for letting her out and for every evil crime she commits. Killing the queen of darkness won't only give her the vengeance she desires, but also the redemption she needs.
I've always loved to read and write. My first paycheck from my first job was spent totally on books. I started writing novels when I was in high school. I never attempted to get them published. One thing led to another yadda yadda yadda 20 something years later I decided to write one more novel and if I thought it was good enough then I would finally get that manuscript published. Boom! done. I am on my fourth book and loving every part of the process (well except writing this bio :) )
Cassandra Myles is back. And damaged. Or rather, should I say, more damaged.
‘Blood and Redemption’ picks up where ‘Blood and Loss’ left off – though for readers who have not read the first novel in the saga, there is enough of a recap to dive straight in with Book #2 if you can’t wait.
The fateful events of ‘Redemption’ have left our orphaned heroine in a vengeful state of mind. But killing a fae queen is not so easy …
Ms. Graham is a natural storyteller. There is plenty of emotion in this novel, but the author dodges the bullet of sentimentality. She is happy to put her characters through the wringer and to imbue them with moral ambivalence. Good people die in these tales: shrinking violets, be warned.
“I wasn’t sure if he wanted to f*** me or drink me. Maybe both.”
Resentful wolves, vampires who celebrate Christmas, biting goblins, psychopathic fae, winged soul-gatherers, daddy complexes, Stockholm Syndrome, magic and violence. Oh, and maybe a bit of romance and good, old-fashioned lust and nakedness along the way. What more do you want, for goodness’ sake?
After reading Blood and Loss I was left hainging for more, well, what can I say? Electa has surpassed herself with this riveting follow up. Not only has she managed to keep the story going from the part one, filling you with the pain of Cass losing Declan and feeling everything was her fault, the strange Quintus who seems the perfect gentelman, only to discover he can be quite the oposite and as for Lucius, wow what a character change there? He was so kind before the attack and the shell that's left breaks your heart because you adore him. You get glimpses of his former self, and you find yourslef pleading for him to come back. Electa has introduced new characters which are dreamy and exciting. Mainly Dominick the lone wolf, Declan's brother and Killian the naughty vampire that you can't help but fall in love with. With enthralling love scenes that made me blush and heart pounding moments which only added to the story. All while be taken to world beyond your wildest. It is excellently written and a joy to read, my only complaint is it ended so open, but can't wait for part three.
I have done nothing at all today, I read this book instead of cooking lunch and doing housework, and you know what I do not feel the slightest bit guilty.
This story picks right up where the last left off. It has the same issues with type-os and grammatical errors that I’m going to excuse for this being free and not having anyone to proofread or possibly being translated from French as it is set in Canada, BUT the story is extremely entertaining and feels like a mix of LKH Merry Gentry and Anita Blake series. You get your witches, vampires and fey all in one. Now if we can have the next book not end with a cliff hanger, that’d be great.
Blood and Redemption is the second book in Electa Graham’s Cassandra Myles Witch series and the perfect follow-up to Blood and Loss, taking up right where the first left off.
I am really enjoying this paranormal romance series. The lead character, Cassandra, is a witch who has a tendency to attract trouble, cute paranormal males, and drama. These are just a few of the reasons why this series is so much fun to read. I am very much looking forward to reading book 3 and seeing, what type of trouble Cass attracts next.
In this second installment of the series we are thrown right back into the chaos that is Cassandra Myles. We are brought right where the last story finished with the Dark Fea being released and Lucius and Quintus high tailing it out of the pack territory with Cassandra after the death of her mate Declan. Since the first book Lucius has been poisoned by the bite of a goblin and his bloodlust has been heightened to an almost uncontrollable urge, he is feeding more and never quite feeling sated. Ms. Graham takes us on a whirlwind of emotions as the love between Cass and Quintus and Lucius comes to a boiling point. Though Cass loves them both she is not in love with Quintus which gets the better of him and he becomes more aggressive trying to win Cass over. While making plans to rid the world of Mab the Queen of Darkness Cass is put through some intense training to prepare. We meet new characters in this book that add a wonderful twist to the story line. Killian is Quintus's third in line, he is also the one who was chosen to train Cass. Another character addition was Dominick who is Declan's older brother. Both characters added a new set of problems to Cassandra's already hectic life. On one hand Cassandra is an overwhelming mess of emotions, but on the other hand she is forever stuck in these impossible situations. Bless her heart she can't win for losing, every time she turns around she is trying to help someone and in return ends up having to do things she wouldn't normally do. Her character is fun to follow because you just never know what mess she is going to end up in next. I look forward to the next installment of the Cassandra Myles Witch series, we are left off on a cliffhanger like no other I have encountered and look forward to seeing more of the story unfold. Goodness knows Cass is in another one of her ungodly predicaments and I look forward to seeing what happens next!
Blood & Redemption is book 2 of the Cassandra Myles trilogy. As the first part of this book deals with the aftermath of Book 1's grand finale, I would recommend you read book 1, "Blood and Loss", before this novel.
This is an adult fantasy novel, not a book that belongs in the YA genre. There are some steamy scenes, it becomes more adult as the story progresses (Cass is a woman who lives fast, be that in love or war).
Initially under Master vampire Quintus' care, Cassandra struggles to come to terms with the aftermath of the battle depicted at the end of Blood and Loss, and the loss of her mate Declan. She is soon erotically involved with many of the main characters, luckily she spends a lot of time having showers!
After some vampiric jiggery-pokery she finally comes face to face with arch enemy Mab, in the home of the fae themselves, setting up another big finish to book 2 of the series. This is a quick read, the perfect link between books 1 & 3.
All I can say is poor Lucius being honorable all the time means to get there last literally! I enjoyed Cassandra's voice in this book and the twists and turns were fun!
It was a nice read and the sex scenes were written well but it lacked heat but I assume the writer will get better with time
