Makeup artist Eve Andrews is an expert at blending into the background. Landing a job with the rock band Speed is the opportunity of a lifetime, and thankfully as close to the spotlight as she’ll ever get again—until the band’s sinfully sexy drummer turns his dazzling eyes on her.
After a scandal shook his world, Zachary Pace, a.k.a. “Jonah Speed”, has given up the one-night stands and easy lays. One look at Eve, and he senses his self-imposed abstinence is about to come to a screeching halt—but he’s confused. His grandmother foretold his destiny lies with a beautiful redhead, not a tiny, brown-haired pixie.
Under the heat of Zachary’s intense focus, Eve’s resistance melts away, but not the façade that hides her terrible secret. And when she accidentally catches a glimpse of his heart’s desire—his fated redhead—her instincts tell her to let him go…before he gets too close. Before he sees the real woman behind her mask, and her heart is left in the dust of his almost-certain retreat.
This is a Speed book, so you know there’s gonna be a small element of fantasy to it. And a big element of romance. Oh, yeah, and whole lot of sex. Sex hot enough to make you throb to the rhythm of a very sensual beat…
Jess Dee lives in beautiful Sydney, Australia, with her husband, their two sons and their insane dog - a ridiculously overweight puggle named Luigi.
An avid romance reader since her early teens, Jess knew one day, when she grew up, she’d have to write her own love stories. It might have taken a while, but in December of 2005, she finally got “the call.” Her first book, Photo Opportunity had been contracted. Now you can’t hold her down. She’s completed a whole host of books, and is finally doing the work she loves most— writing romance.
Seriously, this book was just *blissful sigh* fantastic! No other words to describe it!
If you thought the other two Pace brothers were hot, well then you are in for a treat because I don't think they can hold a candle to Zachary...aka Jonah Speed. Jess has always had a way with emotions in her books, but she really stepped it up to a whole new level with this one. I found so many great swoon worthy lines that would just make me melt into a pile of goo at Zachary's feet.
As always with a Dee book, the path to love isn't easy and these two are no exception. From the first time these two make eye contact you can feel the heat and chemistry between them just simmering, but they have their fair share of obstacles to overcome too. I loved that Eve wasn't a total push over for sexy rock star Jonah, and how she slowly warms up to him but still manages to hold a part of herself back from him as well. On the other hand, Zachary knows that his fate doesn't lie with Eve, but he also can't help the way he is drawn to her either. As the emotions and heat quickly build between them, he finds himself wanting to throw away all his preconceived notions about what he has always been told about his fate just as he gets thrown for a curve. This is one sweet and sexy love story you aren't going to want to miss guys.
So my overall thoughts... As we all know I'm a huge Dee fan, but this is a definite must read! The whole series is great, and I like the fun paranormal twist that gives you just a bit more to the ultimate rock star fantasy.
Almost fourteen months, yes 14 and I’ve been not so patiently waiting for the release of this book. I knew Jess was working on it, she’d often post her progress on Facebook but I was so ready for this one the minute I finished book two, Colors Of Love. I really wondered how she’d top that book, but in Rhythm of My Heart she not only topped it she topped it with a delightful chocolate mousse and a healthy dose of the last brother standing, Jonah Speed aka Zachary Pace. This book is unbelievably touching, it is gut wrenching, it is undeniably sexy and it made me realize that good things, no great things, come to those who wait.
Jonah Speed has had a rough year, he’s been accused to fathering children and refusing to take care of them, he’s been hounded in the press, and he’s feeling used and abused. Six months of celibacy hasn’t been easy and when he spots Eve Andrews a make-up artist on tour with his band, he feels a pull to her like he’s never felt before. He wonders if it’s because he’s been celibate but one conversation with her and he knows that its way more than that. But she doesn’t fit the description of his soul mate in his grandmother’s lullaby and while conflicted, he can’t help but pursue her.
Eve Andrews can’t believe it when she catches Jonah Speed’s eye. A fan of the band, she’s thrilled to be under contract for work as a make-up artist for six months. While she finds it hard to believe someone like Jonah would be interested in her, she sees it first hand when he grabs her hand and her “gift” shows her some very private thoughts of his. I’ll admit I’ve never been a huge fan of stories where characters had “gifts” of seeing other’s thoughts, auras, or the future. They just aren’t my thing but every book in this series has had a character like this, but they are so well written and this part of them doesn’t take over the book so I’ve found I don’t mind it at all. However, I do believe this is largely due to the exceptional writing skills of Jess Dee.
When Jonah (Zachary) realizes Eve can see into his thoughts and memories he actually takes it very well but when she asks him questions about what she sees he has a hard time always answering her. The attraction they feel for one another can’t be denied and they embark on an amazingly sexy fling. However there’s more to Eve’s story than her “gift” and as Zachary slowly uncovers it all, things get somewhat messy and complicated.
It was quite amazing to watch Zachary deal with everything in Eve’s life and for someone who has always seemed somewhat shallow, it was a welcome change. It showed his depth, his passion, and his ability to see more. I love how fast his heart was engaged even when he thought he was meant to be with someone else. I admire Eve for how strong she is and how she refused to take anything less than Zachary’s best. She challenged him to be a better person, a better man and he rose to it.
This is one of those books and one of those series that I will revisit often. The characters are captivating and their stories unique and interesting. I can’t say enough good things about author Jess Dee and Rhythm of My Heart so I’ll just say that if you haven’t read this series you are missing out and if you have it’s time to pick up book three, you won’t be disappointed and I can guaran-damn-tee you will never look at drumsticks the same way again!
I absolutely loved this book! This was the perfect place for this book in the series. The Speed series has been one the best flowing, hottest and most emotional series that I've read in a long time. Zachary/Jonah is nothing short of amazing and Eve is beautiful inside and out. She's been through hell and most would have never come out again but she did, she's strong, incredibly strong and she's exactly what a rockstar like Jonah Speed needs to keep him in line and to help him move forward with his life. Loved it!!!
This is the story of Eve and Jonah which spans over just three days. In these three days they fall in love with each other like they are soul mates, have hot and steamy sex, fight with each other and finally live happily ever after.
This might be one of those trash books which come in series where there is loads of erotic writing. I liked it till it reached the climax. Most of the time when I read books, opposite happens. There is decent love and emotion stuff which can stir you up.
You won't regret reading this but it may also not be satisfactory.
Rhythm of My Heart is the third book in the Speed series by Jess Dee. While this book is part of a series it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel. I really enjoyed reading this story.
Eva Andrews is a makeup artist with the rock band Speed. She landed the job because of a wonderful talent. Eva tries to blend into the background but when Zachary Pace also known as Jonah Speed spots her. He falls head over heels for her. Zack is confused because Eva does not look like his destiny that his grandmother foretold him would be but his heart is in love. Eva fights that attraction because of a terrible secret that once out she feels he will run far away from her.
Eva came across as one of the bravest and strongest woman I read about. It takes a lot to go through what she did before even meeting Zack. Even with her physic powers she still comes across as realistic because she is not making money off it she is coping with it.
Zachary Pace is used to woman throwing themselves at him, but Eva is the one woman that is not looking for his attention at all. In fact if he left her alone she at first would have been happier. Zack comes across as level headed as you can when fame takes over your life. While he has had his wild days, those are in the past. He is looking for a different future.
The chemistry between Zack and Eva is blistering hot. The sex scenes were sizzling hot. I loved that they just did not fall in love and everything clicked. Zack and Eva had to work to make were relationship work.
While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel. I loved this story. I appreciated how realistic the story was portrayed. I could visualize the paparazzi that follow the band around and the trouble that would cause. I have not read anything by Ms. Dee before but I will be on the lookout for more and picking up the rest of books in the series that I have missed so far
Let me count the ways I loved this book! 1. Zachary Pace/Jonah Speed 2. Eve Andrews 3. Rock stars 4. Humor and banter 5. The raw, intense and unapologetic sexy scenes 6. The heart-wrenching emotions
I'm flew through this book and read it in between other acivities in half a day! It had rock stars but it was very different from other rock stars romances I've read. It was super super super hot, OMG the drumset scene... *fans self* And it was so so beautifully written!
Throughout the whole book I was kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop because after reading countless Jess Dee books you just know there is going to be a twist somewhere along the way. At one point I started to suspect what it was and for the first time ever I figured out the twist before it happened! Yay me!
Jess Dee writes, I love! That's all!
Memorable Scene: The drumset love scene > I can never look at a drumset or drumsticks again and not think of this scene!
Fave Quotes: He couldn’t go slow, couldn’t take his time. He just needed to taste her. All of her. Make her scream with raw need. Rake her nails down his back with blistering desire.
His exquisite tenderness and delectable creativity had her oscillating between wanting to come and wanting the sensation to continue for eternity. He generated such sweet harmony within, Eve lost herself to the mastery of his hand, the skill of his touch—and still, as promised, he hadn’t actually laid a finger on her.
I love all the books Jess Dee has ever written but this time, she just blew my mind and my heart with her new release, Rhythm of My Heart. This was an amazingly beautiful love story that I will never forget.
Zachary Pace aka Jonah Speed is the sexy drummer that women can't help but throw themselves at, but it is the sweet, sassy and guarded Eve Andrews that captures his attention with one look. They have incredible chemistry right from the beginning but it is not only physical, they have an emotional connection as well. Only problem is, he's had visions of another woman he's fated to be with for the rest of his life. But, Zachary cannot stop making beautiful music and love with Eve, the woman who has stolen his heart.
I loved Zachary and Eve together and the passion they shared was out of this world. OMG! The sex between them was scorching HOT! I liked that they were able to open up to each other about their past. Jess' beautifully written words in this story brought forth so many different emotions from beginning to end. I laughed, cried, panted and started all over again.
Thank you, Jess for writing such a beautiful hero who loved his woman so much and felt her pain and anguish so deeply. It was SO worth the wait and Zachary has become my favorite hero.

A lot of people know that I have gotten to know Jess Dee pretty well over the last few years. I met her at RT about 3 years ago and I love her to pieces! I've enjoyed all of her books, but this one took hold of my heart and never let go. Eve took turns breaking my heart and making me crazy proud. I'm just going to share what I sent to Jess when I beta read this book: Hands down my favorite of the series. I can’t tell you how much I cried (well I notated most of the spots). lol But you also kept me laughing. This is exactly the kind of book I love. An amazingly sweet love story, with amazing sex, and a happy ending. ***omitted spoilers*** Sigh…I can go to bed happy now (I finished after 1:00 AM). I love this book and I love you for having these words in your head, putting them on paper (or a word doc), and for giving me the chance to read them before the rest of the world could have them. I also told her in a previous email I felt like I was on a roller coaster: turned on, crying, turned on, crying. lol Just stop reading this and go get the book right now! Clear your calendar and keep tissues and a cool drink nearby.
This book started out a bit confusing for me with the stage name and real names of the band members, maybe if I had read the two books prior to this one it would have been easier to follow. But once I got into the book it was no longer confusing since the story was primarily about one of the band members and not all of them and their stage names. I really enjoyed this story and the characters were so well developed I loved the interaction between Eve and Zachary and how they came to accept each other's imperfections. I found it hard to put the book down I became so involved in the drama of the main characters. I would recommend this to other readers looking for a good Romantic read. I plan to now read the two books before this one that are about the other band members.
I couldn't remember why I had been putting off reading this one. I rather like the author. Oh I think it was the paranormal element sometimes made my eyes roll when it came to Contemp Roms, so I took a break for a while.
This was definitely insta love.
No matter how good a makeup artist she was, it never would have covered the extent of her scars. Sorry, it's true. So that distracted me a lot.
I did however like the idea that she was a bombing survivor, and that for them life does go on after incidents like that.
I liked Zachary. Nothing much to complain about there.
Though the music allusions while they were having sex got a little over done. All in all I enjoyed the series, and this was a good ending to the trilogy.
Ah, Zachary and Eve. I absolutely LOVED their story. I read a lot of stories that talk about mates, but I don't remember ever really getting that "soul mate" feeling like his from a book in a long time. Not a very long story, but very spicy. I usually like some action--stalker, crazy ow-- I didn't miss it in this story. I found it a little more subdue for a "rock star romance". It didn't have some of the crazy things I usually associate with them. I found it refreshing. I absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend!
I loved this book because from the start we know he's looking for a redhead but obviously she's not and at the same time we know she's the one so we're left wondering how she's the one without being a redhead but I really liked that slight edge of mystery because you're wondering how it could possibly be.
This one may have topped my love for Jamie and Seth, the rhythm of Zachary's heart belonged to his red haired fairy, what an awesome twist ... Totally loved that he got best up by the niece too :-)
