Burchett is a great historian journalist. He shows how the Viet Cong had integrated themselves into the villages and cities and lives of the people in South Vietnam. The US was right, they couldn't tell friendly from foe. A great history of guerrilla war done right.
A genuine journalistic account from the perspective of the North Vietnamese, however the author’s aggressive “anti-imperialist” proclivities and his outspoken condemnation and ridicule of US leadership and initiatives degrades the impartiality of the work.
