About the author

C.D. Reiss

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestselling author. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping a single cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

★★★★★! SING, part 7 of 7.5. The conclusion of playboy & mogul Jonathan Drazen and aspiring singer Monica Faulkner’s epic saga!

“He’s not some boyfriend in a line of them. He is my alpha and omega. He is the sky over me. Without him, I’m lost. There’s no one else, no one whose soul balances mine the way his does.”

Songs of Submission is the whirlwind saga of aspiring singer Monica Faulkner and hotelier and real estate magnate Jonathan Drazen. Books/novellas should be read in order:
Book 1: Beg
Book 2: Tease
Book 3: Submit
Book 3.5: Jessica & Sharon
Book 4: Control
Book 5: Burn
Book 5.5: Rachel
Book 6: Resist
Book 7: Sing
Book 7.5: Monica
Book 8: Dominance
Book 9: Coda
Book 10: Breathe

In the previous books in the Songs of Submission series we have followed hotelier Jonathan Drazen and aspiring singer Monica Faulkner. And just as the titles would indicate it’s been a journey of self-discovery and self-exploration; Beg, Tease, Submit, Control, Burn, Resist…..

Monica has had to deal with her shortcomings in previous relationships, painful events surrounding family and friends, but most importantly discovering and coming to terms with her submissive tendencies. All while pursuing her singing career and trying to carve out her existence next to the larger-than-life Jonathan Drazen.

Jonathan has also been on a journey. We have followed and enjoyed his relentless seduction of Monica. But all along vindictive villains and circumstances has forced him to also delve in a deal with his painful past, while franticly and ruthlessly trying to keep the truth from Monica.

Everything had pretty much come to the surface in Resist, book 6… Yet nothing, I repeat N.O.T.H.I.N.G. can prepare you for what Monica and Jonathan have to deal with in Sing, book 7 and the final installment of their saga. Their commitment and love for each other will be tested in ways I never expected…. I will say no more. Their story is best experienced!

Seven words to describe Monica Faulkner: Focused, talented, loyal, interesting, endearing, witty and strong.

 photo ReissSongsofSubmission1-7HerobySueBee_zpsdbd38f18.jpg

Seven words to describe Jonathan Drazen: Captivating, enigmatic, private, relentless, out-of-control, determined and protective.

This last installment was high on angst, so have a box of tissue handy! And as for the ending

What a journey this has been for me! This series is going on my 6-star shelf! Spellbinding storytelling! A compelling, strong and very human Jonathan and Monica and many wonderfully developed side characters! Scorching and memorable sex scenes! I am highly recommending! Thanks Ms. Reiss for an epic read!

There is a reason why C.D Reiss is USA TODAY BEST SELLING AUTHOR......and why 5 stars is simply not enough for this extraordinary brilliant book.......

♥ ....Is it because she writes the BEST EROTIC ROMANCE EVER, with such a high level of erotic intensity that she had me pulling out tissues all over the place, adding batteries in big bold letters to the top of my shopping list, and ripping my clothes off quicker than a bitch in heat!!

♥ ....Or is it because her writing did not just draw me in, it grabbed me by the hair and pulled me in so fast that I wasn't just reading the story, I was IN THE STORY.

♥ ....Or is it because her central male character JONATHAN isn't just a hot, controlling, dominating, sexually captivating, excuse-me-whilst-I-take-my-knickers-off alpha.....no he is THE TOP ALPHA and as I said before he has RUINED ME FOR ALL MY OTHER BOOK BOYFRIENDS

 photo image_zps10cdd55e.jpg

♥ ....Or is it because I have been on this journey from the very beginning. I've ridden the roller coaster in the way it was intended, bit by bit, book by book, emotion after emotion. C.D Reiss has given me THE MOTHER OF ALL ROLLER COASTER RIDES . I've witnessed the very first sparks of chemistry, and now in this final book I've witnessed the final flickers of Jonathan & Monica's EPIC love story.

 photo image_zps49b023eb.jpg

♥ ....Or is it because in this final book of the series, C.D Reiss does not leave me hanging, she ties up ALL the lose ends, she completes the journey, and she does it in a way that had me, not just sitting on the edge of my seat, but jumping up and down on it in nervous excitement, whilst I anxiously bit off every single one my recently polished finger nails. She had me really wishing i'd applied water proof mascara before I decided to read this book in public, and she had me grinning like a bloody Cheshire Cat, to the point where I'm sure passers by thought I'd forgotten to take my medication.

Well it could be any one of these reasons, but for me it's simply because she is BLOODY-FLIPPING- BRILLIANT in fact she's not just bloody flipping brilliant, her writing, her remarkable talent can only be described in literary terms as;

 ♥ AMAZE BALLS...
♥ EPIC...
♥ UN-FRIGGIN-BEATABLE.....
♥ UN-FLIPPING-MISSABLE......FACT!!!

And before you say it, I know what you're thinking, I haven't actually told you what this book is about.....,well no I haven't.....and I'm not going to either.... Because PLEASE BELIEVE ME when I tell you that you really don't want this book or this series ruined for you. You need to start this series with fresh eyes, you need to jump on the roller coaster, hang on for dear life and experience this EPIC journey for yourself.

A journey that I have LOVED from the the very first page, a ride that since the very beginning has made me BEG for more.....a ride that has TEASED me.....to the point where I've had no choice but to totally SUBMIT and give up all CONTROL....A ride that has made my lady bits BURN ......a ride that I have simply not been able to RESIST .....and a journey that has made my heart SING.

So buckle up baby because you are in for one hell of a bloody ride!!!!!

Well, it took until the last book for me to give it FIVE stars!

Was not expecting the turn this book took.

“I want you to understand something. That man? He’s not some boyfriend in a line of them. He is my alpha and omega. He is the sky over me. Without him, I’m lost. There’s no one else, no one whose soul balances mine the way his does. I’ve waited my life for him, and when he came, I didn’t recognize him. Not until recently. If I lose him, I swear, as God is my witness, I will be alone. No man can match him.”

“You are the sun I revolve around, the stars that mark me, the moon rising through me. I’m lost without you. If you won’t have me, I’ll break, I swear to God. I know it’s selfish, and I’m sorry. Let me serve you. Have me as yours. Let me live under you.”

“My lips on your body trace the story of my love.”

... each breath, each note, each word, no matter the song, about one thing only.

I did not like Jonathan being so weak, but this book provided another great angle in Jonathan and Monica's relationship.

“Hi,” I said when I walked into Jonathan’s room of bland pinks, beiges, hard edges, and the smell of sickness and alcohol. I’d gotten him a little light-up Christmas tree for the table by the bed, and every night, he made sure it was on.

Monica cannot simply accept that Jonathan's condition is the result of a a sixteen-year-old overdose. She thinks about poisons, attempts of murder, enemies, his ex-wife etc. But unfortunately the truth is really that simple.

On the other hand Monica will possibly lose her house. She cannot work, she misses opportunities in her singing career, she is isolated from Jonathan's family, her best friend is occupied and happy with his new boyfriend.

Monica is lonely and sad spending the majority of her time at the hospital next to Jonathan's bed trying to hide her desperation from him and even trying to hide her hunger because she keeps skipping meals.

This book definetely shows what a great person is and how much she loves Jonathan. She will even think of murder in order to help him.

Help will come from people she never expected they would help like:
-her boss
-her neighbour
-Jonathan's father
-Jonathan's ex-wife

But all of them will have their own agenda.

This is a hard book to read. It will not be full of roses and sexy moments. It is full of desperation, antiseptic smells, lost hope, crying and lost dreams.
Yet it is full of true love.

“Goddess,” he said, his breath on my mouth, “have me, please. I was wrong. You’re not the sea under my sky. You are the sun I revolve around, the stars that mark me, the moon rising through me. I’m lost without you. If you won’t have me, I’ll break, I swear to God. I know it’s selfish, and I’m sorry. Let me serve you. Have me as yours. Let me live under you.”

The ending will not disappoint you!

+ a million more ...

You know the saying "good things happen when you least expect it"? This is exactly what happened to me and this brilliant series - I stumbled upon the first two novellas compeletely by accident and, since I was in between books, I thought "Why not?". Boy, am I ever glad I took a chance!

BDSM erotica has become a genre du jour and, even though everybody and their mother is all of a sudden a self-published erotica writer, very few can actually pull it off. C.D. Reiss is one of those few. This is one of the sexier erotica series ever written where less is definitely more!

In her first novella, Beg , which is 100 pages long, CD managed to accomplish more than some authors can't in a full length novel. By the end of "Beg", I was completely sucked into Jonathan and Monica's story and, by the time I was done with Tease , I was a goner! You know the book is that good when you start wishing time away as you wait for the sequel (or sequels, in this case).

As you read these novellas, you feel like you are watching a very well written/produced TV series or, better yet, you feel as if you are a part of the said series. The sense of place is amazing - so many times throughout the series I expected to look up and find myself in the room with the characters. CD's writing is so "real" that it almost feels like you are intruding on characters' personal space. The entire series is unbelievably sexy without even a tiny hint of cheesy.

Dear CD,

You made me Beg for more after the first novella and then you decided to Tease me with where you took the story in the second to the point that I had no choice but Submit and patiently wait for the next one before I'd lost all self-Control. I Burned with desire and couldn't Resist to dive into the next instalment and wanted to Sing with joy when I finally got my hands on the last part of this brilliant series of yours.

But all I want to do now is Cry ... partly because it's over and partly because the last instalment was so beautiful and packed with so much raw emotions that I am still trying to recover from it.

I have no doubt that your next series (which I am DYING to feast my eyes on!!!), Songs of Corruption , will be just as fantastic but Songs of Submission , as well as Jonathan & Monica, will always remain near and dear to my heart.

Cheers!!

That man. He’s not some boyfriend in a line of them. He is my alpha and omega. He is the sky over me. Without him, I’m lost. There’s no one else, no one whose soul balances mine the way his does. I waited my life for him, and when he came I didn’t recognize him. Not until very recently. If I lose him I swear, as God is my witness, I will be alone. No man can match him.

Oh my GOD!! This one pretty much ripped my heart out and I ugly cried through large parts of it. It’s a real sobfest and there’s a sadness and a wistfulness that comes through loud and clear as the story is told that you will feel deep in your soul.

After investing in Jonathan and Monica pretty much all year long, we finally reach the conclusion of their tumultuous journey in a dramatic, tense and deeply emotional finale. We left Jonathan in dire straits at the end of Resist and, let me tell you, things really don’t get any better for him any time soon in Sing. Everything hangs in the balance, the future is very uncertain and the light at the end of the tunnel has narrowed to a near pinprick and is blinking out…………….very, very slowly.

As I read this, I felt as though there was a massive countdown on the wall next to me – counting down to impending and seemingly inescapable doom. It’s incredibly tense as everything hangs in the balance and I read at a ferocious speed as I just needed to know…………needed to know what on earth was going to happen to these two, whether or not the ending would be happy or tragic. I truly did not know which way CD Reiss was going to take this one. She’s ripped the rug out from under us before – I definitely wouldn’t put it past her to do it again. I read with fear, trepidation and absolute desperation.

There’s a huge dark cloud hanging over Monica and Jonathan as this story begins and it only gets darker. Their situation is Desperate with a big ole capital D. What happened to Jonathan at the end of Resist is explained but it’s far worse than I could have imagined and just seems to get worse as the story progresses and this dramatic conclusion will get your heart beating faster as you wonder just how on earth it will finally all end.

Looking back over this series, I have so come to love Jonathan – that fucked-up, beautiful, sexy dominant billionaire. We’ve come on quite a journey with him as his character and back-story has slowly been revealed by CD Reiss over all seven instalments until now he’s an open book to us – we finally get to understand everything that has happened and how this has molded the man who stands before us today. To truly know Jonathan is to love him.

“Goddess,” he said, his breath on my mouth. “Have me, please. I was wrong. You’re not the sea under my sky. You are the sun I revolve around, the stars that mark me, the moon rising through me. I’m lost without you. And if you won’t have me, I’ll break, I swear to God. I know it’s selfish, and I’m sorry. Let me serve you. Have me as yours. Let me live under you.”

Monica is the omega to his alpha, the final piece in the puzzle that is his life, the one person who will finally allow Jonathan to be just Jonathan. She’s also come a long way since we first met her in Beg and never has she seemed more vulnerable and lost to me than she does in Sing. Nothing matters to her any more other than Jonathan and what is happening to him and she will consider THE most desperate courses of action to secure his future. I think I read in absolute shock at one of her decisions.

This has just been a fantastic series, very dark and twisted, very sexy, deeply emotional and an incredibly taut, tense and angsty read – just the way I like ‘em. There’s a latent sadist within me somewhere that is never happier than when my book characters are suffering and suffer they surely do. It has everything – kinky D/s sex, romance, great character development, shocks, surprises, despair, tragedy, humour and even happy sappy goofy grin moments. It’s beautifully written, in fact, it’s sublime. Thinking Gal’s Erotica.

Look out for Songs of Corruption to début in early 2014, Theresa Drazen’s story, who's been trained to be distant and proper her whole life until she feels the heat of racketeer, embezzler, money launderer, mobster and fighter, Antonio Spinelli. Can’t wait for that one!

5 Stunning.... Songs of Submission.... Stars

Each breath, each note, each word,
no matter the song, was about one thing only.

"Goddess," he whispered, "I have to have you."

I can't tell you what happens in this book; I 'll give you a flavor and tell you how it made me feel.....

Now time for me to gush my heart out..... I can't help it, I love!!

Songs of Submission, the series, has given me the most amazing book experience. I read them back to back... It's a story that drew me in and made me feel all lovely inside. It gave me the book tingles, big time""

They. Are. Addictive!!!!

It's a seven book series, with a couple of Novella's for good measure, about Monica and Jonathan. Two people on the journey of their life...... Each book is an episode, so they are quite short, approximately 108 - 175 pages long and from book four we get a dual perspective which is just sublime. I LOVE being inside Jonathan's head.

It's a very, very sexy read, extremely HOT and... Mmmmmm... Lovely.

"You dress for the world, but under that, you dress for me. I own your softest places, and what touches them is mine."

The erotic steam factor for the entire series is off the scale.... I've read some seriously hot books this year but I think this one tops them all. It has the kinky, dark edge of a controlling, powerful dominant and a sexy submissive who is not afraid to speak her mind, be independent and enjoy the pleasure.... The pleasure and pain in harmony....Mmmmm... Sexual awakening is a beautiful thing!!! It has the hottest, sexiest scene ever in the episode Burn!!! Thank you, CD ;))

Sing was sexily tender..... And heart breaking

"I'm so turned on I'm pretty sure I'd come if you breathed on me."

The pure beauty of it, is in the writing, it's subtly fantastic and the story is addictively brilliant!!!! CD has created two characters whose chemistry together is perfectly harmonized... The feelings and emotions we get from them is palpable.... They ooze sensuality together.... Their attraction to each other is joyful. This is no accident, it's carefully crafted, captivating writing.

Through each episode the story, and the writing have become more and more intense, more layered with depth and charisma..... Climaxing in the final, Sing, where my heart was squeezed and broken and hurt......

It's gripping, tender, passionate and stunning.... Exquisitely erotic and seriously sexy.... And reaches into your heart.

CD has addressed a serious issue that can have serious consequences, if not straight away then at some point. The damage that can be done to a body may be devastating.....

"Desperation's all I have."

Sing had me in a complete mess....

"I kissed him like I kissed him every time since he fell into my arms- My heart. My heart. My heart.

Tears and sobbing with snot and everything, it wasn't pretty. Jonathan and Monica's story has crept up on me, each episode bringing these characters and their story closer to my heart.... Then it ripped my heart to shreds with the thought of what was happening, what could happen and the way Monica and Jonathan dealt with their situation. Their thoughts, Their words. Their actions.

This took my breath away.

CD writes her words with a sprinkle of perfection…. Truly...
I wish I could read it all again with fresh eyes.

Forever in my heart.

I have a confession to make...... I read this book in one sitting. One abso-fucking-lutely awesome sitting. That might not be an uncommon occurrence for some of my Goodreads friends but for me, it's a first. I bow down to you C.D. Reiss.

One word for this book- ANGST. All-consuming, page turning angst.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Kudos to anyone who's done a thorough review on this book without spoiling it because I find it nearly impossible. If you read Resist, you're aware of the mother of a cliffhanger ending. Well, this book is 100% revolving around that event. What's the outcome? I shan't tell you....

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Looking back, I'm so thankful I was able to hold out and read this series in its entirety. I think I'd have heart failure had I had to wait for each installment. Each book ended in a bit of a "kinda cliffy" that made you anxious to move onto the next installment.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

In a genre that's riddled with nicknames such a smut and porn, this author stands above the rest. Her writing is lyrical, almost poetic. Character development is stellar. I felt as if I knew the characters personally. She details their little nuances in such a way you grow to feel an attachment to their love story.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Well, I guess that's all for now. If you want to see if it ends happy or not, click the spoiler. No details will be given. But sometimes we just need to know.....

I vote for a Darren MM book. I can just imagine how CD Reiss can write MM! Sell out on Duracell batteries worldwide!

What an amazing beautiful journey I just went on...

((This is a Spoiler Free Review))

It's official... I'm moving this series to my Favorite Romanic Series Shelf... Let's all be grateful that I am not a video blogger for my reviews, or the world would be subjected to the visual accompaniment of my emotional upheaval... Tissues, hoodies, blankets, and a slight rocking back and forth motion... I look like the "before" footage in hormone replacement commercial... all black & white grainy footage. You'd look at the actress and roll your eyes from the comfort of your couch thinking "her life can't possibly be that dramatic."

You're probably right.
I'll get over this book and the things it made me feel...
But it's going to stick with me for a while.

I'll be just a little bit haunted by some of the soul-crushing moments in this book. I'll find myself drifting off into memories of this fictional world even as reality presses against me...
And it's that feeling which makes this an amazing book...
for better or worse...

There's nothing more I can say about this book that won't spoil your journey, so I leave you with the following quotes:

JONATHAN DREZEN
"You're not the sea under my sky. You are the sun I revolve around, the stars that mark me, the moon rising through me. I'm lost without you. And if you won't have me, I'll break, I swear to God. I know it's selfish, and I'm sorry. Let me serve you. Have me as yours. Let me live under you."

MONICA FAULKNER
"I want you to understand something," I said. "That man. He's not some boyfriend in a line of them. He is my alpha and omega. He is the sky over me. Without him, I'm lost. There's no one else, no one whose soul balances mine the way his does. I waited my life for him, and when he came I didn't recognize him. Not until very recently. If I lose him I swear, as God is my witness, I will be alone. No man can match him."

5***** Phenomenal, beautiful, and outstanding stars!!!

"My name is Monica. I stand almost six feet tall. I walk like an ocean wave and I sing like a storm. My voice is a force of it's own and I let it loose like a hurricane. I am safe I own what I make. I am a creator. I am an artist."

I don't usually read Novella's being that I feel you just don't get the time to fall in love with the characters, story, dialogue but I went in and wow I was very very wrong I lived, I breathed in Jonathan and Monica's story,I started from the beginning and I ended with Sing and with every Novella in between I loved every moment, every page, every tear, every laugh and every OHHH. I have wanted to move onto the next book once I finished with the one I finished therefore I didn't have to time to review so I'm going to do a little review of all in one

 photo submission1_zpsd62ced47.jpg

So back In BEG we meet Jonathon and Monica, Jonathon's heart was still held by his ex-wife but he would never go back to her being she would never meet his desires, he could never let go, be who he wants to be, he owns hotels works hard but inside hes a caged animal. Monica has one goal and one goal only to be a singer, her music is her life, it seeps through her bones and into her soul. She hasn't been intimate for 18 months she has control of her life. So when they meet they are attracted to each other to put it mildly but he can't give her his heart and she can't afford to let go of her dream.

But these two are highly sensual creatures so they decide to have some fun.

Jonathon is a Dominant and what he's attracted to is that Monica is a natural Submissive what we get out of these Novellas is there story, what they become and how they loose control with each other. He wants her to Beg for it then to Tease for her to Submit to Control to Burn and then everything picks up a notch in Resist.... Jonathon has a dark past and is his past catching up with him??!!!

When I got to Resist I was...

Your saying where's the review for Sing ok ok here we go... I just can't possibly tell you what the story is about otherwise I'm going to ruin it for you IT.JUST.WOULDN't.BE.FAIR. So what I'm going to do is explain what I loved...

JONATHON
 photo jonathon2_zps247b024a.jpg
Jonathon is SEXY,HOT, beautiful, gorgeous, Strong, he is very much in love with Monica and his need to protect, nurture her, be with her, what I will say about Sing is he doesn't have so much control over his life or Monica, and he needs Monica more than ever in this one. He is a Dominant I have to say if there's a favourite kind of story I love and love to breathe in its a DOM/SUB relationship I just find it to be special, something safe and nurturing and damn HOT and SEXY (not in real life) but most definitely in my books I'm a die hard Jonathon fan.

Monica's life is music, but her life is also Jonathon and she just wouldn't breathe without his love, his pain, his passion, she fits with him. She is sensual, she's beautiful, strong, Independent and she truly was the strength in Sing, she fought for him, she became his strength and she became a musician.

I was at the edge of my seat in Sing, what's going to happen?, what course of events are going to occur?, These Novellas were addictive as a whole but Resist and Sing were it for me, I struggled to put my kindle down which tells me how powerful, how unforgettable and gripping this story was. It was Captivating and C D REISS is a mastermind she knows how to write, she is BRILLIANT, FANTASTIC, and pretty damn AMAZING ok sorry a bit of fan girling going on here, just trust me if you've read her books you know what I'm going on about right?!!

To conclude will I recommend this series: YES

Will I re-read:Yes

Will I be thinking about Jonathon and Monica and will I have a book hangover: Yes

Will I read anything else CD Reiss writes in the future?: Yes

If you like Dominants, Submissive, multi billionaires, a sensual relationship that has that something extra go read folks you won't regret it promise!!

What a fantastic ending to an unforgettable series...

Sing is the 7th and final installment in the Songs of Submission series that consists of seven main novellas and three side novellas. The previous part of this series ended with a HUGE cliffhanger so I was anxious to start this book right away (most of the novellas ended with a bit of a cliffhanger btw so it's best to read them when you can all read them in a row).

Sing did have a complete different feel to it than the previous books in this series. There were some very unexpected events that I did not see coming and that gave the story much more depth. It was a heart wrenching, unputdownable, sensual emotional roller coaster that ended with a fabulous epilogue in which all lose ends were tied and in which all my hopes for the perfect ending to Monica and Jonathan's whirlwind romance story came true.

"My life is with him. That's how I live it. The rest is unnecessary complication."

"My lips on your body trace the story of my love."

"Godess," he said, his breath on my mouth, "have me, please. I was wrong. You're not the sea under my sky. You are the sun I revolve around, the stars that mark me, the moon rising through me. I'm lost without you. If you won't have me, I'll break, I swear to God. I know it's selfish, and I'm sorry. Let me serve you. Have me as yours. Let me live under you."

All in all, this series is an experience in itself that I would highly recommend giving a try! Monica and Jonathan are an epic couple that will definitely stay with me long after I finished reading this series and it's safe to say Jonathan Drazen will be forever on my favorite book boyfriends-list! ;)

I am sad to say that my journey has come to an end with this unforgettable series. This last book, "Sing," brought me to my knees. It was so heartbreaking, intense, and honest. What I mean by honest is that the circumstances in this installment were so realistic, and had me fully engaged right up until the very last page. I prefer not to ever give spoilers in my reviews, so I apologize in advance if I write with not very much clarity.

The seventh book in the "Songs of Submission" series took a very different direction than the other books. The events that took place in this book were extremely intense, and it became an emotional journey that had me in tears more than once. Through out all of Monica and Jonathon's trials and tribulations came a couple who have now developed an unshakable bond that no one will ever be able to break. As I was reading about them, I could literally feel the desperation within each of them that the outcome would be in their favor. I won't forget Jonathon's proposal, and the enormity of how he did it. Believe me, it was EPIC! That will go down as the most romantic proposal in romance history. I was absolutely floored when he did it and most of all how he did it. In typical Jonathon style as well, he said some pretty beautiful quotes to Monica:

"Goddess," he said, his breath on my mouth, "have me please.

Monica also stepped up to the plate for Jonathon, and revealed that she would do ANYTHING for him. She loved him that much and just wanted to be together with him. In her words:

"That man? He's not some boyfriend in a line of them. He is my alpha and omega. He is the sky over me. Without him, I'm lost. There's no one else ,no one whose soul balances mind the way his does."

These two are the ultimate couple, and I won't ever forget them. There is something extremely special about their bond. This is a must read series. I love the fact that it is erotica, and yes; there is some extremely kinky, rough, and adventurous sex; but there is also substance to this series. It is not just about sex, there is a very entertaining story line packed full of mystery, suspense, and as the books go on there are major reveals that have your head spinning!
C.D. Reiss will be on my auto buy list from now on. I am so glad that I took a chance on this series, and I can't wait to see what Ms. Reiss delivers to us next. Whatever it is, I know that it will be another worth while tale!

FOUR TO FOUR AND A HALF STARS!

In the interest of saving time and from spamming my f-list, I thought it would be prudent to write an overall review for the songs of submission series in this seventh and final book. Its been almost a whole day since I've read this book, hoping to be able to piece together a coherent review that would do justice to this enjoyable series, and most importantly, this final book that had my feels in a hot mess. But I find that I have not the words, nor the eloquence to properly explain how this roller coaster of a series has affected me.

So, in place of my useless words, I'll let artists do the speaking so as to highlight one of the major themes that was evident throughout this series; music.

• Jonathan Drazen:
This one is for the boys in the polos
Entrepreneur ****** & the moguls
He could ball with the crew, he could solo
But I think I like him better when he dolo
And I think I like him better with the fitted cap on
He ain't even gotta try to put the mack on
He just gotta give me that look, when he give me that look
Then the panties comin' off, off, uh
Excuse me, you're a hell of a guy you know I really got a thing for American guys

- Nicki Minaj

• Monica Faulkner:
You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar
When I met you
I picked you out, I shook you up
And turned you around
Turned you into someone new
...
Don't. Don't you want me?
You know I can't believe it when I hear that you won't see me
Don't. Don't you want me?
You know I don't believe you when you say that you don't need me

- Human League

• Jessica Carnes:
It's a bitch girl but it's gone too far
'Cause you know it don't matter anyway
Say money but it won't get you too far
Get you too far

- Daryl Hall & John Oates

• Kevin Wainwright:
Kill yourself kill yourself kill yourself
- Timbaland

• Steamy goodness:
Help me tear down my reason, help me its' your sex I can smell
Help me you make me perfect, help me become somebody else
I want to fuck you like an animal
I want to feel you from the inside
I want to fuck you like an animal
My whole existence is flawed
You get me closer to god

- Nine Inch Nails

• My damn feels:
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Precious kisses words that burn me

- Culture Club

• Should you read this?:
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
Take a chance, you stupid whore

- Gwen Stefani
(OK, sorry, I don't think you're really a whore).

I know, I know, you want to facepalm over this ridiculous review, lol. Let me join you then.

3.5 - 4 ★'s

Once again we start off picking up the pieces from the crazy ending of the last book. And let me just say, this was probably my least favorite book but I can't tell you why! I can say that it was because I didn't like what happened! Ugh...I know it makes things more realistic but I'm just not a big fan of this type of plot.

Monica was amazing in this book...I can't imagine what she had to go through. She had some very tough decisions. And I thought it was great how she was able to pour her feelings out in songs.

description

Thank goodness for Margie...she's turned into my favorite sister by far. I loved how she was always able to see through the B.S.

Dr. Brad was also wonderful to get to know better but then that was it? I'm hoping we'll get more of him in the next book.

I didn't care for the fantasies either...it just didn't seem very realistic and I had a hard time not skimming through them.

What I LOVED was the whole 3 o'clock thing...that was sooo romantic!

I also thought Jonathan's dad was really interesting. He seemed to come through and I'm not really sure I saw his evil side. I think I would need to read more about him but I'm not sure that's going to happen.

And Jessica...Karma baby, Karma! (but is that it?)

Loved the ending though and Jonathan getting down to business with the lipstick! (that sounds really kinky but it's not!)

My emotions were taken to so many levels that I am finally coming down. This last book was something I never imagined. What I found so compelling was the growth that Monica showed. She has always been a fabulous heroine. She was feisty, strong, held her own with Jonathan and she was a submissive to Jonathan. She truly was made for him and she would do whatever, no matter the cost to her, to ensure his life.......TRUE LOVE AT IT'S FINEST.

"You’re a manipulative bastard, a brazen liar, and a sadist. You've brought me to my knees. You've dominated me. You've told me who I am and then challenged me to be it. If you made me strong enough to stand up to the world, let me stand by you. If you completed the woman I am, let me be that woman in your honor. Every part in my body is dedicated to you. Every note I sing. Every breath in my lungs. My pleasure and pain. Take me. Let me serve you. Let me be yours."

ARC received by Author on behalf of eXcessica Publishing from NetGalley. (Original read: 9/2013)

I am not sure if there are any words to explain what a brilliant series this is. And although Sing is far different than the other six books in this series, it was absolute perfection.

It's a true gift to be able to evoke emotions from the reader, but it wasn't just the emotions that were torn from within me. It was the perfect imagery that C.D. Reiss creates with her words. Every chosen word seems deliberate and with purpose. And I have read books that brought me to my knees before, but I was a complete mess during this one.

There isn't much to say about the story in the last book that won't give away what happens, but let's just say that we get a deeper look into what kind of love these two share with Sing than we ever saw before. We get to see the control slip away from Jonathan and Monica's desperation to give it back to him.

Sing_11

"You look at me. Your eyes eat me alive, I feel you between my legs, even though you're half a room away. If I could draw you closer with my desire, you'd be on me. I'm hungry for you."

'... I can breathe
Without it
I can see
Without it
I can sing half a woman...'

"...'tomorrow I'm going to destroy you. I'm going to mark your body and ruin your mind. By noon, you won't know whether to laugh or cry. But tonight? Tonight, I will revere you. I will build an alter of myself. I will frame you in the stars."

"My lips on your body trace the story of my love."/b>

A path was set in place, a journey we all took along with Jonathan and Monica. It was set with stones of passion and it was laid out with such a strong desire that twisted you to your core. Along the way we fell in love with Jonathan and Monica, and we discovered the fantastic talent of an author who dazzled us with her words.

If you have not yet picked up this series, stop everything you are doing right this minute and get it. Read it, devour it and join the rest of us that have fallen completely in love with it.

*****5 COULDN'T STOP SOBBING STARS*****

ARC provided by the publisher, eXcessica Publishing, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

This is the last book in the novella series, Songs of Submission

Every once in awhile, I come across a series that keep my mind churning constantly about the storyline and characters.  HUH....This is one of those times; CD Reiss is an artist using words as her canvas and our minds as her masterpiece.

I requested this 7th novella book through NetGalley without reading books 1-6 and I actually gave an inward sigh about spending my weekend having to read about BDSM (cause how many times can someone read the same kink over and over again without losing interest?)  Well, wasn't I surprised, that not only did I finish all the books in less than 2 days, but I FELL IN LOVE!!

This series was not only about BDSM and submission, but it was a heart wrenching romance all tied into one!  It skimmed the lines of romance, kink, alpha, mystery, thriller, love, hate, angst, heartbreak, abuse along with so many other categories and emotions.

We left "Resist" with a MAJOR cliffhanger which is the premise of "Sing".  Jonathan is no longer the strong, controlling master and Monica is left alone to deal with his family, his ex-wife and her music career.

Throughout this book Monica learns that even though she may be submissive in the bedroom, she is a far cry from that in life.  She steps up to the plate to make sure that Jonathan is taken care of and also to make sure that he will be in her future.

I can't say too much without giving the story away - but I will leave you with a few hints...

I sobbed;
I cried;

I smiled;

I hated;
I loved;

I prayed;

I cursed;
I sobbed again;

I cringed;

and then,
I laughed.

If it's the last thing you do today....pick up this series and experience a MASTERPIECE!

I was entirely too enthralled to stop long enough to write a review for this series, so I'll just do an all in one. At the end of the day, bottom line, if you haven't read this yet... DO NOT put it off any longer!!! You can thank me later...

 photo BegCollage.jpg

Beg

First books high points for me were the banter. I was in love with these two just as soon as they started interacting with each other. It was glorious. Also, there date/non-date was the best thing ever. I thought it was different and original and lovely!!!

 photo TeaseCollage.jpg

Tease

Book 2 was definitely a tease. I kept thinking that Monica was going to make a bad decision or do the wrong thing and I was so surprised by what she actually did. Jessica was full and center on my shit list as well as that douchetard Kevin! As always Jonathan and Monica were wonderful!!!

 photo SubmitCollage.jpg

Submit

This had some sad points but also some really lovely ones as well. It was awesome to see Jonathan change and Monica's struggle was a tough one. Not just with the events but her struggle within herself and trying to accept what and who she is and what that meant to her. I loved that she could be swayed and distracted with sex and not in a cheesy or over done kind of way. It made the amount of passion between these two obvious and beautiful.

 photo ControlCollage.jpg

Control

Jonathan's POV is live and direct in this one!!! And I absolutely loved it!!! I loved their real date they went on. I loved the banter as always and the drama. The kitchen scene was bananas!!! The sex in general was steamy and creative and HOT!!! Jonathan was poetic at every other turn and I loved how he encouraged her to communicate with him. Even though he surely could do more communicating with his secretive self. I really think book 4 was where it started to climb into EPIC FUCKING SERIES territory!

 photo BurnCollage.jpg

Burn

Again, perfect freaking title. Burn had me heated! I am not talking about the sex. I wanted to crack Jessica, Darren, and Kevin's skulls to the white meat. They were not making me happy at all. Most of the book our beloved couple spend separated and it was a lovely thing to see the confidence in which one of them had that the other would definitely be back. The "hotel room door" scene was some hot stuff. When they were getting it on it was also extremely HOT, so again the name of the book is fitting.

 photo ResistCollage.jpg

Resist

Hands DOWN the best book of the entire series. If for nothing else Chapter one alone!!! I was on the edge of my seat excited, I need a minute, oh goodness kind of amped after that chapter. The rest of the book did not disappoint at all. There were so many twists and turns and that ending I was just like WHOA!

 photo SingCollage.jpg

Sing

Last but definitely not least, Sing! This was so freaking heart wrenching. I'm talking most of the book!!! Was it worth it in the end, of course! I definitely teared up several times. Especially when Jonathan would get poetic or Monica would let her emotions show. I can't believe it's over... C.D. Reiss did say she is thinking of doing a coda, but no time frame on when and if she will. I will wait forever because I love these two entirely too much to let them go!

In short... this series was just plain and simply...

5 Heartwrenching, Emotionally Satisfying, Life Affirming, LOVING Stars
* * * * *

Sing, part #7, is the conclusion to the addicting series, Songs of Submission.
It should come as no surprise to those who have traveled this road of self discovery, art, music and sexuality how intensely you will feel after reading this. I usually write my reviews right after my experience with the book. I put my thoughts down, hope they make sense to the readers and send them out to those who choose to read them.

Sing and all it represented was not going to let me do that. The overwhelming emotions and the experience was circuit overload. I needed time to recover. It felt too personal; too real and I needed to distance myself. Otherwise, too much of me would be left on these pages. To say that shows how powerful this book and series was for me.

And I can only talk about how I see this series. This series has so many parts to it; there is the development of amazing 3 dimensional characters. All of the characters, even the peripheral ones, have a way of impacting the story.

The way the multiple plot points are created, presented, teased and then tied together allows the reader to bathe, soak and just about drown in the beauty of it all.

The awakening of sexuality and tying this to the understanding of different needs of the mind, body and soul resulting in unconditional love was pushed to the limits and back. To have a vanilla gal like me be able to appreciate, understand and rejoice in this couple's coming together is masterful.

This last part did not disappoint. It could have easily. Instead it never let the pace slow or drag. I felt I was on a speedway and my brakes were about to malfunction. There were turns in the road and I didn't know if I would make it.

I made it through and so will you. You will feel every single moment and wish to do it all over again from the beginning. I sincerely cannot recommend this enough for all readers; challenge yourself and see what you discover.

I received Sing as an ARC, in return for an honest review.

E.L.James made the genre Erotic Romance widely accepted.
CD Reiss now makes the connection of that genre to literature.

I will make this review completely spoiler free. The only spoiler is perhaps that I think this series, Songs of Submission, that started early this year, is really awesome and it finds here in book 7, Sing, its conclusion in a perfect timed, felt and written style.

I dream how a fairy would visit me, granting me a wish. My wish would be that I never read anything written by CD Reiss and I would stumble on this series, as I stumbled once on book 1, Beg. I could then start anew reading in one addictive swoop the account of two people with very different backgrounds meeting by chance and falling instantly for each other.
It doesn't sound at all different from a more than usual plot. What makes this account different from all those others is that CD Reiss doesn't take anything for granted. In seven books we are led through all the obstacles, insecurities, violent struggles and fights that would occur in real life in such a relation. In any relation. And the making-ups. Ohhh, those making-ups!
Did I mention that CD Reiss can write? The hot scenes are hotter than anything I have ever read. But what is even more important is that whether scenes are hot or angsty or dramatic or emotional or happy, they are written, from book 1 till this final book 7, in a deliciously flowing style, with intelligence and wit, without any unnecessary nonsense. The series is longer than the fifty shades and there isn't a word too many in it.

I could go on endlessly why these books are so great but you would be much better off reading them than my review. I envy those that are still new to the series. Go read it and enjoy. To those waiting for this final book: you won't be disappointed but you already knew that. Prepare for an incredible ride.

An ARC was provided to me by the author. This is my honest review.

ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL

I can't LOVE this series more, words can't do justice on how I feel about this book and the whole series. I won't do a long review because I'm not sure when I will collect all my thoughts. So here we go...

An explosive love story about a LA billionaire and an aspiring singer. It was set in Los Angeles.

Let me tell you that all of these broken-billionaire-men and their equally-broken-normal girls kind of story were not my thing anymore. Most of them became tedious, repetitive and I was bored. However, this is different..I love every bits of the story.

Jonathan and Monica, I really hope you find your happily ever after because you both deserve it.

This book made me cry, I was broken-hearted and scared. "What if" kept popping my mind, the impact of whatever was going to happen were terrifying.

All in all, thank you C.D. Reiss for this wonderful tale about Jonathan and Monica, you're truly talented.

**THANK YOU GIRLIES for letting me join your BR. You all know who you are :)

This is where the story takes a drastic turn into left field. It’s no longer a battle between Monica and Jonathan. It isn’t even a battle between them and everyone else. This is Jonathan’s battle from the reckoning of what he did to himself at 16. It’s Monica’s story of hanging on by the edge of her nails.

It’s gut wrenching, so sorrowful that it rips you apart from the inside out. There’s absolutely no steam in this one and is my absolute favorite of the series. It’s my realization that I care more about raw emotions then anything below the belt has little to no meaning. Especially without said emotions.

It also painfully reminds me why I never finished the series but not this time. This time I’m powering through no matter how much it breaks my heart.

Sing is the last book of the seven-part novella by C.D. Reiss entitled Songs of Submission. And since I am such a lazy gal, I won't be doing an individual review for each novella. This review will serve as my review for the whole series. :D

Now, that's out of the way, let's get down to business shall we. As I have mentioned above Sing is the seventh and the last novella in the series Songs of Submission.

Jonathan Drazen

Monica Faulkner

In Beg, we saw how Monica Faulkner, a struggling singer-songwriter, met the handsome enigmatic real estate mogul Jonathan Drazen. Monica vowed never to let a man control and silence her again after her previous boyfriend did just that. And Jonathan vowed never to fall in love again after his ex-wife, whom he is still in love with, left him for another man. Despite both their reservations, their attraction to each other was instantaneous.

Their coming together is inevitable. But Jonathan cannot give Monica his heart. And Monica begins to question her identity as Jonathan makes her do things she has never done before. Their tumultuous relationship continued all through Tease,Submit, Control, Burn and Resist. With each novella, their passion gets hotter, the connection goes deeper and secrets started to come out. They came together, broke-up, came together again until that one last event during Resist where all hope seems lost.

Sing, for the most part was a little bit depressing to me. I literally didn't know what will happen or how this whole thing will end. What is going to happen? Is their love doom to die a slow and painful death? Just when you thought they could do it all, one more devastating circumstance comes roaring through their relationship. Just one after another that I was literally screaming at my Kindle,

Ms. Reiss definitely did a great job at keeping me at the edge of my seat the whole time. I devoured the whole series in a day. I was very sick but even as sick as I was, I couldn't not put this whole series down. I just want know what's going to happen. And thank god, I hang on because that ending was just what I needed.

But there's more to love about this series than just the HEA. For one, I loved that the story is given to us in a novella format. I know, I know. In hindsight, I can say that since I've read this at a time when all the novellas are out and I won't have to wait for the next one to come out. Sure. But I also know that all of seven novellas were published this year, so I'm guessing the wait wasn't that long. And although, these are novellas, you still get a lot of character and plot development out of each one.

Second, I loved both Jonathan and Monica. I loved that they were both flawed and they both made some questionable decisions in the past and even during their relationship. The Jonathan and Monica that you read in Beg isn't the same Jonathan and Monica during the last book, Sing. Hurray for character growth I must say. And you can really see the evolution of their relationship, you know. About four novellas in, there was never any doubt in my mind that these two people belonged together.

I really had fun with this series. I didn't think that would happen considering that billionaire books and I never meshed well in the past. After this series, I am considering dipping my toes into this genre again. Who knows, I might stumble on another gem like this one.

I've given a rating for each book in the series but overall, another five-star read for me! Enjoy!

5 Stunning and Amazing Stars

Wow!!! Sing was such an amazing ending to the Songs of Submissions Series. Honestly, I didn't expect what happened in this book but I loved every second of it. It was simply perfect.

The reason I decided to read this series was through a suggestion on the C.D. Canaries thread for C.D. Reiss new book Spin (Songs of Corruption). I asked the question whether or not I had to read the Songs of Submissions Series first before Spin and it was suggest by a few C.D. Canaries that I at least read a few of them to get to know Jonathan & Monica.

So, I’m going to steal something said in another review because it fits so perfectly. Irene said “you know the saying good things happen when you least expect it”, this is exactly what happened to me”. Well…ditto for me!! That is exactly I how felt after reading book 1. I only expected to read a couple of the novella’s in this series but I just couldn't stop. My need to know more, to read more was crazy. :)

I started this series just about a week ago. I loved every minute of every book. Really and truly, Jonathan and Monica’s story is AMAZING. It is BEAUTIFUL. It is EROTIC. It is BREATHTAKING. It is INTRIGUING. It is EMOTIONAL.

I found Sing to be the most emotional book of the series. Because this series sucks you in, and you feel as though your invading both of their lives, you feel the heartache, the sadness, the happiness, the love and become so invested in what will happened to these two.

Even through the sense of hopelessness, there is still so much passion with Jonathan and Monica. Their love for each other is fierce and unwavering. I loved Monica’s strength in Sing. She had enough strength and resolve for both of them.

If you haven’t read this series I highly recommend that you do. Don’t miss out on an incredibly sexy, erotic and intense series.
