Fun, clean book

I've really enjoyed the series and am anxiously awaiting book 4. I like that the series is a very enjoyable fantasy and is clean (no sex or foul language). I'd consider it a safe, enjoyable series for any age.

The Adventures of Dod: Code of Kings by Thomas R. Williams
As the third installment within the series, Cole/Dod once again returns to the world of Green. To halt the progress of The Order and Sirlonk, Dod and his friends must decipher the mysteries of the Code of the Kings. Sirlonk narrowly escaped death last time, and Ingrid is Sirlonk in disguise; he once again escapes.
Just like the other two books in the series, The Adventures of Dod: Code of Kings was told from a third-person omnipotent perspective. This affects the story in a way you feel like you are there, watching everything unfold. Most first-person perspectives make you feel like you are the main character, which is why choosing between first or third person perspectives is so important. By choosing a third-person perspective, the author allowed the reader to see Dod/Cole’s development through being an omnipotent fly on the wall.
This book has a significant amount of external conflict. Dod had The Order and Sirlonk opposing him, as well as some of his fellow Green Coosings. When suspicious events happened around Dod, some of the Coosings become wary, accusing him of being involved in The Order or being close friends with Sirlonk. Dod was accused of murder, and many of the Coosings at Twistyard started to believe the rumors. Only because of Dod’s friend Boot did the Green Coosings refrain from turning against Dod.
Dod/Cole also faced internal conflict. Stress affects Cole home on earth, trying to deal with members of The Order on his home planet without his family being put in danger or worrying about him. Doubt in his friends and his own abilities start to affect the way Cole/Dod acts, and with the discovery that Boot was involved with his grandfather’s Pap’s death, Dod starts to question his friend’s loyalty.
This book was just as good as the first and the second, though I did have problems finishing the book. Every time I started reading, I couldn’t stop, but when I finally did, I didn’t feel like continuing the book. It wasn’t very bad, though I wished the author hadn’t brought back Sirlonk and had used a different antagonist for this book. In the last book, having Sirlonk being the Dark Hood was fine, but I personally think that Sirlonk has started to be overused. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read and enjoyed the first two books.

This is a great book to read as a family because of the fun of guessing who did what throughout the book. We read all three so far and we are excited for the rest. The books get better and better with each volume because of the increased depth of the characters and plot. Everything fits together well and we are left talking about our predictions and theories well after our reading time. I like that this series has brought us together for a fun family activity. 5 stars!

Not sure if I should give this five or four stars. I would like to have more range so I save the top rating for books that pull me in them much further than normal. This one was not quite there but close especially at the end. So I have rounded its score up. One great thing with reading this series is seeing how the writing has improved across the books. In this one it feels as though the author has hit his stride.

INSANELY AWESOME! I loved this book best, and cannot wait until the fourth book comes out. A big cliff hanger that makes you want to grab the fourth immediately! Full of intense action, and twist and turns. A page-turner! I was up all night reading this incredible book! I couldn't stop! It was so awesome!

Fun read. Good Book. Third in at the series. Now we have to wait for #4 to come out. My 10 year old grandson wanted me to read these with him. They remind me of the Harry Potter series. A young boy going back and forth between Earth and Green and helping save the people of Green.

I really enjoyed the book! I liked how the author tied a lot of things together from book one and two. It's my favorite in the series.
