this is a godawful textbook. a not so helpful review section, and long-winded paragraphs that cause me fall asleep many a time. why the hell did i bother buying this piece of shit?

oh yeah, because my school said it was necessary.

I used the 4th edition when I was preparing for chemistry competitions back in 2008. I found it very helpful. It contained almost all the information I needed and I found it detailed enough. The section "Structure" could be expanded. I had to use different books, because the text in Carey's book was not good enough for me. But the sections on organic compounds properties are very good!
I have recently started revising my knowledge of organic chemistry and now I use the 5th edition. I am equally satisfied

Read the first half. Although I liked Pearson's general chemistry text better than this, I have no other organic chemistry text to compare it to. I gave many examples and explained well. I didn't like that no answers were provided to the sample problems. They had to be purchased separately. I ended up using the ebook much more than the hard copy.
