Eve Devon writes sexy heroes, sassy heroines & happy ever afters...

Growing up in locations like Botswana and Venezuela gave Eve Devon a taste for adventure; her love for romances began when her mother shoved one into her hands in a desperate attempt to keep her quiet during TV coverage of the Wimbledon tennis finals!

When Eve wasn't consuming books by the bucketload, she could be found pretending to be a damsel in distress or running around solving mysteries and writing down her adventures. As a teenager, Eve wrote countless episodes of TV detective dramas so the hero and heroine would end up together every week. As an adult, still hooked on romance and mysteries, she worked in a library to conveniently continue consuming books by the bucketload, until realizing she was destined to write contemporary romance and romantic suspense herself.

Really tough...

This book is well written but it was hard. I love suspense and all of that kind of drama but this was... sick. Twisted. Repulsive.

Also, the see-saw of guilt and apologies was growing old.

Wouldn't write off the author, but can't say that I'm a fan of The Waiting Game.

Waiting—yes, that is what I am doing—eagerly waiting for the next Eve Devon novel! Devon twists the lives of Brooke Bennet and Cameron Dexter so seamlessly that we are sewn right into that seam waiting with held breath not only for this gorgeous bodyguard to save Brooke from the psychopath of her past, but to save her from herself.

If you want a romantic suspense with twist and turns in the plot, a book that will grab you and throw you around until the very end, you'll love this book. My first Eve Devon read, and I bow gracefully to her talent to write one hell of a thriller romance novel. The storyline itself was awesome, but with this book, you deal with a straight up, certifiable, batshit crazy psycho, and in my opinion, it takes talent to write a character like that. "Normal" people can't imagine what it's like to get inside the head of a stalker/psycho, but in this book, the character, Spinks, is chillingly scary. I could feel myself slipping into his head space, and although I clearly can't relate to the things that made him the way he is, or his mind frame for doing the horrible things he did to the heroine Brooke, you kinda understand him a bit by the end of the book. That doesn't make him any less creepy or scary though.

I loved Cam, the sexy former bodyguard to Brooke, and his vulnerable intentions towards her. I love how they were on the same page with their feels towards each other 5 years prior when he worked to protect her, and my heart broke for him in finding out how much true guilt he felt towards Brooke for what he sees as failing to do so. It was just an intense romantic suspense and I enjoyed watching how it played out. It was a bit over detailed in parts, but that is just my opinion...it certainly did NOT make me hesitate in reading forward. I kept trying to guess what would happen at each turn. And damn that Steven...I have to say, I didn't see that coming till a good ways into the book. Well written! Glad I was provided the ARC from NetGalley to read!

'The Waiting Game' is a twisty, well paced story with a damaged but so courageous heroine - Brooke and a sexy, guilt ridden hero - Cam. Hooked from the first chapter I read this book in a couple of hours.
The stalker element in this story is menacing. The author conveys Brooke's horrific experiences cleverly without resorting to descriptions of gratuitous violence. Sharing Brooke's point of view brings the fear and lack of control she experiences vividly to life. The plot has lots of twists and a few nasty surprises for Brooke and Cam.
Cam's need for control is a symptom of his guilt complex which proves an almost insurmountable barrier for Brooke to climb. The chemistry between the couple as Cam refuses to let his passion override his duty is sizzling. The emotional bond between the couple is tangible they so deserve their happy ending but will they get it?
Well written secondary characters enhance the story's realistic edge. I would love to read Ellie and Alex's stories.
The balance of romance and suspense in 'The Waiting Game' makes it an enthralling read.

Security expert Cameron Dexter made a mistake once when he was protecting musician Brooke Bennett, five years later he still carries the guilt of what happened. When Cameron finds out her attacker has been released on probation, five years later, Cameron is by her side whether she likes it or not.

Brooke has been living in a carefully structured shell, the horror from the attack still curdles her stomach. Her attraction to Cameron and her independent nature were to blame for what happened. Now that Cameron is back she can''t help but let her thoughts wander on what might of been, there are moments that the sparks they ignited are back, but Cameron's only focus is protecting her.

I was shocked by the twist at the end, but kept wondering if something was up with Brooke's friends. Cameron was trying to protect her, but kept feeling like he failed. He didn't realize that he had someone close to Brooke working against him. Brooke was so courageous about putting herself out there. Cameron kept Brooke at arms length, but Brooke kept trying to break down Cam's defenses and get him to admit how he really felt. I liked the ending and how Cam and Brooke finally broke through each other's defenses and trusted each other. It was a really good book!

A very different animal than Devon's contemporary romance, both the Thriller and the Romance aspects of THE WAITING GAME fell flat for me. Brooke and Cameron's relationship stayed in the same holding pattern all the way through, and the thriller catalyst that finally brings them together dragged on without building any meaningful tension. None of the snappy dialogue that I loved in THE LOVE LIST adw an appearance, but I'll still be eager to read more of Devon'slighter rnace.

Thanks Netgalley for a copy to read and review.

Outstanding job, except for the fact the first part of the book made me keep thinking I'd missed book one but this is a standalone not a series. Brooke and Cameron have a history. He was her bodyguard and lover and failed to protect her from a madman. Skip five years and suddenly said madman is out on early release. Cameron has left her alone for five years and now suddenly stands on her doorstep ready to whisk her away. I enjoyed the last half of the book and the twists. I think the book would have been better had we just made the kidnapping a first part. Still Four stars of entertainment, I enjoyed the book. Thanks for allowing me a copy.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this book. The way it throws you into the story, it feels like this is the second in a series but you quickly get caught up. The characters were likable and I found myself wanting to know what would happen next. There was enough action and a little romance. Definitely fit in my current want for stories with some thriller aspects to it. I would say this was pretty tame in regards to both the romance level and thrill but I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. I recommend!

Should you really play the waiting game with a psychopath or should you fight for your freedom to finally be able to live your life, to fall in love to be you. This is what Brooke decided to do she was tired of the psychopath winning it was time to regain her life.

Brooke Bennett was a singer for a duo group “Nocturne” and was also the song writer. They were a very popular group but something happened one day when she decided to go against her bodyguard demands. She liked defying him, she liked to flirt with him but he would not listen to her or he would tell her no. Brooke was tired of being stuck in the hotel room she wanted to do some shopping but he would not let her go. Only after he left she defied him and left to do her shopping. She hit some shops but on her way to the hotel room she was kidnapped.

Cameron “Cam” Dexter had been hired to protect Brooke after being alerted that she had a stalker. She had received some pictures and they were escalating into something worse. He had a hard time thinking around her he knew he was attracted to her but he had a job to do. Cam needed to keep his head straight and not think about her sexy body. Then the day that he left her and told her to stay in the hotel room she left but the worst part was that she had been kidnapped. He did everything he could to find her he thought she was dead only she wasn’t. He finally found her but he feared the worst. She was strapped to a gurney, with glassy eyes and blood covering her body. Cam saw the shame in her eyes when be looked at her so he did his best to cover her. He vowed to protect her, the psychopath was in prison.

Brooke was content in France only she lived in fear but at least she was living and Spinks was in jail where he belonged. She still had panic attacks but with her yoga and her method of counting in her head she was coping. Only she was no longer able to sing and also write. She was done with the music industry she just wanted to forget only that someone has come back into her life again.

Cam needed to go to Brooke Spinks had been released from jail apparently on good behavior. He knew that he needed to protect her and he knew that he needed to get her out of France because Spinks was going to find her again. Only that deep down inside he knew that he needed to see her he needed her, but that needed to wait. Once back home in London they needed to draw Spinks out and that means that they have to put Brooke out there, only he couldn’t do it. Only her ex-manager/ friend Steven seemed a little to eager to have Brooke back in the spot light. There was something about him I just didn’t like he just seemed to slimy. Brooke wants to be part of the planning wants to know what is going on in the investigation and Cam sees she is trying to be brave. Brooke is trying to following his rules she is trying to following his directions but at times she just wants to argue with him. When it was ready for them to make their move to bring out Spinks, everything was going great at the club only Brooke had a panic attack and then the second in command to Cam was hurt. Just as they are leaving the club, Spinks appears and stops her from falling. Brooke is frozen in place, he is right in front of her and she can’t move, she can’t scream, she can’t fight.

Ms. Devon I so applaud you for this amazing, suspenseful read that had me enthralled from the beginning to the very end. I am a sucker for bodyguards that act all alpha male but underneath everything they show so many emotions. Now as for Brooke, I loved how determined she was, how brave but most of all I love how she did not back down on what she felt for Cam. I loved how she was done waiting she was done being a victim she wanted to be free. Now as for Spinks I could not believe how his mind worked how he rationalized his obsession with Brooke, his obsession with her being his muse. In some of Brooke’s telling of what happened to her I felt sick for what she went through the torture the thought of never being able to be free. The characters in this story were well developed. The chemistry between Cam and Brooke is hot, steamy when Cam finally touches her it’s with so much care so erotic so sizzling. This is my first read by Ms. Devon and I have to say it will not be my last, her writing style is perfect, to the point and the pace is perfect.

If you like a romance with a suspenseful twist The Waiting Game is for you. Read the journey that Brooke goes through in order to have her freedom to love someone and finally feel safe.

Five years ago, Brooke Bennett was living the life every musician dreams of. She was part of a highly successful band and walked away from it all after she’s rescued from her stalker’s clutches. While she cuts herself off from her friends to live a quiet life in another country, Brooke’s former bodyguard, Cameron Dexter, is hard at work running his security business. When word reaches him of Sprinks’ release, he only has one priority, to protect Brooke. Eve Devon has us asking, what would we do if we were put in Brooke’s shoes? Devon’s The Waiting Game has it all, suspense and hint of romance.

In terms of characterization, we have sexy Cameron. He’s dedicated to his job and when he hears about Sprinks’ release, he didn’t have to personally collect Brooke. It’s clear he takes his job seriously and blames himself for not protecting Brooke five years ago. Brooke is a tough woman and no shrinking violet. She doesn’t want to leave the house she’s been living in, but at the same time wants to confront Sprinks head on. I commend her for wanting to do it, but I have to take Cameron’s side here and have them proceed with caution. We’re introduced to Megan, Brooke’s signing partner. She clearly loves Brooke and I’m not sure if Brooke understood at the moment, that when she walked away from Nocturne, she left Megan without a job. I was a bit worried at how Devon would introduce Megan, but I’m glad she was a true friend to Brooke. We also have Steven, Nocturne’s manager and he’s a piece of work! It’s clear where his priorities lie. Then of course we have Sprinks, who is crazy as can be.

Now the big question I kept asking myself was why Brooke blamed herself for being kidnapped and what exactly went wrong. Plus I had all sorts of questions regarding this attraction both Cameron and Brooke were clearly fighting. Never fear, Devon addresses it in a flashback scene and it was eye opening. You can’t help but wonder what would have happened between them if Sprinks hadn’t come into the picture. Brooke is also afraid to show parts of her body because of the scars left by Sprinks. You could feel Brooke’s uneasiness and when you find out exactly what Sprinks did, you’ll be ill because it is clear how sick he really is. While you want to loathe him, you can’t and at times I wanted to shake him and plead for him to get help. Devon does a superb job giving us a first class creeper.

I was a little disappointed at how neatly Spinks was dispatched, but in the back of my mind something just didn’t add up. Devon expertly leaves behind clues and even when I thought I had everything figured out, she throws us a curveball. At that moment, my heart broke for Brooke because here she was trying to live her life and to be betrayed the way she was, saddened me. It makes me glad she had Cameron there for support. Also both of them were able to heal and take responsibility for the past and both realized that they really weren’t at fault. A mad man dead set on getting to someone will do whatever he can and I have no doubt that if given the opportunity someone close to Nocturne would have sold Brooke and given Sprinks access to her.

I really enjoyed Eve Devon’s The Waiting Game. What I really liked was that it set primarily in London, but it felt like it could take place anywhere in the world. If you’re looking for a well fleshed out romantic suspense, I highly recommend Eve Devon’s The Waiting Game. Just be aware, I’m not responsible for any sleepless nights you may have trying to finish the book or drooling you may have over Cameron.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review!

I really enjoyed The Waiting Game, perhaps even more so than I expected. It was a thrilling read and exciting to the end!

Former rock star Brooke Bennett has been living in hiding since a vicious attack five years ago left her physically and mentally scarred. Brooke went from being an outgoing, flirty, musician to a reclusive, shell of her former self. Brooke has spent the time since being kidnapped by evil stalker Spinks avoiding everybody and trying to move on.

Cameron Dexter was Brooke's bodyguard back in her musician days and when he turns up at her house in France she instantly knows something bad is coming. Cam blamed himself for her abduction and attack and is determined to look after her now that stalker Spinks is out of prison.

Full of twists and turns, The Waiting Game is addictive. I found myself anxiously waiting for the big reveal and for the final confrontation between Brooke, Cam and Spinks. I did see the twist at the end coming, but I probably should have picked up on it earlier.

The mixed POV's really help to get inside the different characters heads and I enjoyed the insight into creepy Spinks. The mind of a stalker truly is a scary one! The descriptions about the attack and the future horrors he planned were horrific and I cannot imagine being faced with a similar situation.

Brooke is a great heroine because she's strong, far stronger than she realises and it was interesting to see her begin to rebuild her life. Cam was a good mix of alpha male and caring friend, boss and potential lover.

A great read but if you're still not convinced then check out the cover... HOT!

My fav non-spoilery quotes:
•Danger flashed in neon signs behind his eyelids. And the devil in him taunted him to play with fire, until rationality reminded him it would be incautious to fan the flames.
•Was she even listening? Taking this seriously? "At the hotel, we head straight for the nearest bed." "Check - excuse me?"
•She didn't want to back away and hide from him. She wanted to explore the song she had in her heart.

4.5 STARS - (I was given the book for an honest review)
Eve Devon is a genius when romance or suspense is concerned. Luckily we find both in here! I really loved this book and I must say that I was completely fascinated by it. From the beginning I felt an instant connection with the characters, especially with Brooke. Brooke Bennet lived a sweet life as a musician until she tasted bitterness when a crazy stalker kidnapped her and tattooed her. I don’t know why but I positioned myself in her shoes… And I admit that everything that she suffered was totally terrifying.
Brooke becomes the heroine while she fights for her survival and struggles to keep the bad memories at bay. Something I found interesting was that she counted backwards in multiples! But I guess it’s okay because it’s her way of dealing with the anxiety.
After living all alone in Chateauroux, Cameron appears out of nothing telling her the bad news: the madman was released from jail due to “good behavior”.
Cameron is the sexy bodyguard who had to protect Brooke, however he failed. He has always been professional and polite. As a bodyguard his duty is to protect people but the walls he built were destroyed when he surrendered towards Brooke. Now, he feels guilty and is determined to stop the psycho from hurting her. Again.
Andre Spinks lives in a whole different world. He is the one who used Brooke’s body as “living art”. He is the reason Brooke has all the scars; the reason why she shut herself from the society. Soon he will hunt her down to complete his art. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to write a character who is mentally unstable, nevertheless Eve Devon achieved to create this very conflicted human being with an eager (but also insane) personality and a weird way of feeling the world.
You can really appreciate the suspense from beginning to end. The Waiting Game makes you wait and it leaves you wishing for more. I really loved it! However, I did not like the cover. It was killing me; I think it was a little plain and a little unassertive. It could have been sooo much more.
Even though the book has a fast pace you are aware of the “waiting game”; it was breathtaking .The characters were good, mainly because you read their story with their point of view. You won’t regret reading this book!!!

Brooke had been a star and then she became a victim of a sick and perverted kidnapper who stole her dreams, her life and her courage. Now she is hiding out in fear, scarred physically, mentally and emotionally. Cameron was the man who was supposed to protect her, and he failed, because he got distracted, by Brooke. For five years they have not had contact, but the twisted villain is now out of prison and on the hunt again, to finish what he started with Brooke. Should Brooke face her demons or hide away? Can Cam protect her this time, purging his own demons of guilt? These two have chemistry, no denying that, but look what happened last time. Do they stand a chance against evil? Do they stand a chance with love?

The Waiting Game by Eve Devon is the perfect light, yet intense read for a quiet afternoon, curled up by the pool, the beach, or in a comfy chair! The action is non-stop, tension runs high between Cam and Brooke and the enemy is closer than they knew. Eve Devon let her words create the story as it flowed smoothly along with two characters that were meant for each other, if they survive. With a few surprise twists, Ms. Devon made her mark in the Contemporary Romance genre in indelible Ink!

A romantic suspense that will keep you wondering what will happen next. I found it hard to put down and absolutely loved the characters.

Brooke Bennett, one half of a musical duo, has spent the last five years trying to get passed the trauma of being kidnapped and tortured by a stalker. She held up in France to avoid the media, music, and all things in between. Even friends. When her narcissistic stalker is somehow released from prison, her former bodyguard Cameron shows up on her doorstep.

Cameron, filled with guilt, is determined to protect her this time. Something he failed to do the first time. Having always been attracted to her, he is dead set on keeping it professional and not let his heart get in the way of her safety. If he can keep her away from her former manager, Steven, he can maintain control.

Steven is all about the money and the spotlight. With Brooke and her friend Meghan being his biggest money makers before her ordeal, he figures he can get her back in the game to fill his pockets. He will stop at nothing.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Although it's called The Waiting Game, it's very fast paced. At first, I was frustrated with the characters. Then I realized the totality of the situation, and it flowed perfectly from there. Great character development without the unnecessary infodumps. Suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. And the right touch of romance. I would definitely recommend this for any lovers of Romantic Suspense.

This was great! Wow.
The Waiting Game is a really good read. I actually didn’t expect that. The story hooked me in from the first line. I don’t really know why but I felt instantly connected to the characters.

I totally liked that sexy bodyguard vibe Cameron had. Brooke had a very strong personality. Even though due to her circumstances she had every right to be, she wasn’t that helpless damsel in distress.

Of course she had some major panic attacks. I am not familiar with typical victim behavior but for me the way Brooke acted was very realistic. I could so feel with her when she had to face Spinks and wanted to grab into the book and drag her out of those situations. God, I thing I would have reacted just the same. Nevertheless she always got herself together again and fought for herself and what she wanted.

Also very interesting were the insights in Spinks mind. Wow. I can imagine it is tough to write about the crazy psychotic mind of a freak like Spinks. Eve Devon really delivered here. That’s probably why I freaked out just like Brooke when she was faced with him.

And this a*** Steven. I didn’t like him from the start. He constantly tried to get her back into business and only thought of the money he could make with Brooke.

Even though I have to reduce half a star because right from the beginning I knew/suspected what would happen in the end or rather what the twist in the story would be. This could have been a bit more tantalizing.

So all in all this book was really great! I can highly recommend it.

Having never read anything by Eve Devon before, I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting myself into. The blurb sounded enticing enough for me to pick up this one, and from the very first page we're thrust into Brooke's broken world. I both loved and was annoyed with Brooke. Which is a very good thing. It means that Brooke isn't one dimensional as a characters, she has layers. What bugged me about her, was her constant need to do the very opposite of what people were telling her. And she kept trusting the wrong people. Even I saw that one from a mile away.

I liked Cameron. I never really fell in love with him. He was a little too closed off, even from a reader's point of view. I think it would have helped his character a lot if I as a reader had been able to see sides to him that Brooke didn't see. Getting a little more under his skin would have been perfect for this one.

Parts of the book were very predictable, but there were also elements that took me completely by surprise. Things I did not see coming. Which is why I ended up loving this book so much. When you read a lot of books, it's to easy to become a little jaded when it comes to characters and plot. So reading a book that takes me by surprise, no matter how little or big a surprise, is always sure to make me a happy reader. I also loved the fact that the story was set to England and France. That too made it stand out from the books I normally read.

Will I be picking up more books by Ms Devon? Absolutely!

The premise of this book as far as how Brooke had been tortured, and the theory of why the psycho needed to do it was something I had never heard of or read about before, it is very original. Also there are a few scenes in the book that come from his point of view, and I have to say Eve Devon wrote them very well as I was thoroughly creeped out, well done!

I loved all of the characters in this book, my favourite was Brooke as I felt I could relate to her best. Cameron is also fantastic, and it was nice to see him grow through the book and finally allow himself to give in to the one thing that he wanted most, but felt he did not deserve to have. Stephen gave me the willies from when he is first introduced, I kept feeling like he was after something or trying way too hard to put Brooke back out there, and was not listening to what she really needed as he thought he knew best as her Manager.

Just when I thought I would have something figured out, Eve would throw me for a loop, and put another plot twist in, it was great! Even when I thought the book was over, and everything would get tied up nicely, oh no, she has more in store for us. Also the way she is able to write in the flashbacks that Brooke is having is brilliant, as I felt like I was right there with her feeling everything that she was.

This is the first book that I have read by this author, but it sure will not be my last! Thoroughly enjoyed this story, and suggest it for anyone looking for a mixture of suspense, with a sprinkle of romance mixed in, I give this a 4/5.

Unrequited Love, Victim, Survivor, Fearful…. Those are just a few of the terms that are associated with Brooke Bennet. Famous singer of duo group Nocturne until she was kidnapped by a psychopath who stole her sense of security and passion for life and music. Five years later, in The Waiting Game, Cameron Dexter comes to Brooke’s rescue once again on the day that Spinks, her kidnapper, is released from prison. He convinces her to go into hiding with him until Spinks can be locked up for good. But Brooke is tired of being the things that make her weak. She wants to fight and the only way to do that is to draw Spinks out and make his move sooner rather than later.
Sexy bodyguard, Cam, goes out of his mind trying to protect Brooke, the woman he loves, as well as capturing Spinks. Brooke is jumping out of her skin to feel safe again and to get Cam to see her as more than just a job.
With the stakes so high, time seeming so short and never-ending all at once, who will come out on top? The smart and savvy psycho? Or Brooke and Cam, the edgy duo?

Giving this book 4 ½ stars, Eve Devon delivers a book that will put you on the edge of your seat, dragging you in with her believable and worthy characters. Her writing throws off the most graphic images that puts you right there within the story.

I really liked how this book sounded which got me interested in reading this book. Brooke has been tortured and the person who did this had to do what he did. New upcoming author Eve Devon wrote this book very well and it definitely creeped me out. It was romantic and it will always keep you on your toes.

Brooke is a very interesting character as well because she spent 5 years getting over a passed trauma of being kept captive by a stalker. Brooke Bennett has live full of music until this trauma where her stalker kidnapped her and tattooed her. This is a bit scary and terrifying. Brooke is the main character where she struggles with memories and struggles to live a normal life when Cameron appears telling her bad news: that her crazy madman was released. Now on to Cameron who is our very sexy bodyguard, who serves and protects people. He is determined to protect Brooke, he is professional, polite. But he also protects his heart until Brooke, also from her stalker. Andre Spinks has lived in a different world, and in his mind he used Brooke's body as a piece of artwork (living) He is our crazy character. Eve Devon did a great job presenting all this information.

In this action, romance and suspense of how being able to create this amazing characters. I don't normally read mystery and suspense this changed my mind. The Waiting Game will take you on a rollercoaster. does need some fixing but overall it was good.

When I started reading this book, my interest was piqued and I wanted to find out more about what happened to Brooke. However as I was reading on, I already seemed to have an idea as to what was going to happen during the course of the book. And to my disappointment, what I had thought would happen, did.

There weren’t any parts that really stood out, and made the book seem different than the other books written in this genre, and I was sorely disappointed in that fact. I had such high hopes for it.

The characters themselves, I did enjoy; Brooke's character especially. I liked watching her find her strength throughout the course of the book. I do think that Eve did a great job getting into the heads of the different characters and portraying them in ways that were scary at times. Like when she gets into Spinks mind, I think she did a great job with that.

Overall, I thought that the storyline was not that exciting, (to me personally), but the characters were written very well.

There's a tidal wave of guilt and heroism in The Waiting Game overwhelming both Brooke and Cameron, whose history stretches back 5 years - back when Brooke was an impulsive a petulant musician sorely in need of (but oblivious to) personal protection from a stalker. She is a changed woman 5 years later, more measured, wary and cautious, living in isolation in France, until Cameron bursts back into her life when her stalker, Andre Spinks, is released from prison.

The rest of the story is fairly predictable and I've sort of guessed the twist at the very end, but I continued reading simply because I do like Ms Devon's elegant style that actually shines through many long, narrative and introspective passages, shaping Brooke out as perceptive and mature - and so very changed from what she was five years ago. While The Waiting Game isn't exactly an atmospheric page turner (I did take a long time to plough through the first half after all), but it was so easy to slip into Ms Devon's writing that finishing the book was no hardship at all.

This was a great romantic suspense book.
Five years ago Brooke was half a successful singing duo when she was kidnapped and tortured. At the time, Cameron was in charge of her security. He found her days after she was taken.
Five years later Brooke is living half a life hiding in France while Cameron blames himself for her kidnapping. And her kidnapper, Spinks, has just gotten out of jail for good behavior. Cameron is sure Spinks' focus on her hasn't diminished and he's determined to keep her safe this time. As they alternately hide and bait Spinks, their romance grows.
Since Cameron and Brooke had a previous relationship, the speed their relationship grows is believable. The story has good pace and tension. It is slowly revealed what exactly happened to Brooke during her kidnapping. I only wish we had a few more details about her ordeal and moment when Cameron rescues her from either of their perspectives.

Eve Devon knows how to write romantic suspense books. The twists and turns in this books are great. It kept me riveted to the story from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down until I found out what would happen to Brooke and Cameron.
Brooke was kidnapped by Spinks and he is being let out of prison. At this time she has been living in France and away from Cameron. Cameron comes back into her life to protect her from Spinks. Their romance begins again as they try to capture Spinks before she is harmed again. Brooke is dealing with her traumatic experience and Cameron with guilt because he wasn't there to protect her when she was kidnapped. Both are dealing with a lot of guilt but throughout I could feel that both love each other. Another thing that I rally enjoyed was the pov of Spinks. I wanted to know how he would get caught. There was a surprised that was I not expecting and I really liked that about this book. Read it to find out about it.

This was a well told romantic suspense story...Brooke has spent the last five years trying to recover from a horrible event, being kidnapped and tortured by her stalker when Cameron shows up on her doorstep, he was her bodyguard 5 years ago when Brooke was taken.

While a good read, I did find this pretty predictable and as much chemistry as Brooke and Cameron have....I just could not connect with them...where I can usually finish a book like this in one day I kept finding myself putting this one down to come back to later...so while I will definitely try other books by this author I think this one just may not have been for me.

Book provided by the publisher through NetGalley for an honest review

I am not usually a big romantic suspense reader. I get a bit scared for one thing! And this is a bit scary... The villain is truly an evil guy... But the heroine is brave and the hero does help her. It's very fast-paced and suspenseful. A great story!
