OUR STORY
A beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket and a sense of adventure. In 1972 that’s all Tony and Maureen Wheeler needed for the trip of a lifetime – across Europe and Asia overland to Australia. It took several months, and at the end – broke but inspired – they sat at their kitchen table writing and stapling together their first travel guide, Across Asia on the Cheap. Within a week they’d sold 1500 copies and Lonely Planet was born. One hundred million guidebooks later, Lonely Planet is the world’s leading travel guide publisher with content to almost every destination on the planet.

The info in this book wasn't inaccurate; it simply was ridiculously short and not in any way useful. Thankfully it was free!

uhm.. no. I have seen so many awesome free ebooks from lonely planet and then this here comes along. first of all: scandinavia obviously does not exist, since none of the ideas refer to the northern countries. second: finland is not europe?? what the heck? there is a map in the beginning and this already destroyed the fun for me. also there is very little information, it is not at all as nice as the others. everything you would need, you have to research yourself. the idea of roundtrips is nice, but it is just too little effort in this one to be really useful.

There are suggestions on where to go and what to include for your adventure in Europe. Basically this lists what cities should be visited with a few short lines of the major attraction they recommend. This book also includes possible itineraries and how to reach each destination and the time frame it would take. When I downloaded this book I knew it was short but it is great for an idea guide not an actually city/country guide. It gives me a chance to see if I want to research further. The odd and ends tips are good, funny and useful common sense.

I dragged this dog-eared battered and high lighted book around Europe with me and love it. It was no end of help. Just knowing where to find a good hotel in each city was worth the weight of it in my pack.

Not even for dummies

Super lame! I thought: so it's free, right? It could provide an interesting new point of view, right? Wrong. Officially in the competition for "the 10 worst spent minutes of my life". Not even for first timers. Seriously.
