Capture fantasy kink again but with VIKINGS and monks!

Colum thinks himself a scholar and isn't having an easy time at his new monastery. He seems to be getting regularly spanked by his corpulent fellow brother, Fedelmid. Seems as though Fedelmid likes reddening a tight young ass. Who can blame him?

I digress.

He and Niall (another tight young ass) like to frolic about in the mud and rain working off extra "energy" a.k.a. mud wrestling.
description

The VIKINGS arrive and decide since there's no wenches about tight young asses will do for plundering and pillaging. Colum makes a good faith effort at trying to reason with the leader, Viggo, then has to resort to a fighting with makeshift weapons. Nope. Doesn't stand a chance. He's captured along with Niall.

Niall's storyline was actually more satisfying for me, but I'll chalk that up to me being a freak. Niall's viking, Einar, likes plundering his boy's virgin ass. In public with some kinkiness that was pret-tea freaking hot. Colum's virgin ass and throat got plundered just not as publicly. The Colum/Viggo relationship seems to be heading towards a love connection despite their dubious beginnings.

The rest of this series is going to the tippy top of my TBR list. Fingers crossed Niall and Einar provide enough freak nasty kink to keep my motor running.

MOAR VIKINGS & PLUNDERING!

Vikings raid a monestary full of monks & scribes, burning and pillaging ensue. Amidst fighting, a couple of young and beautiful scribes are taken as slaves--one of them, unbeknownst to his friend, desires men and the other figures out his sexuality .

This is the first part of a serialized novel, but it thankfully lacks the massive cliffhanger usually seen in serials. The end works, it leaves the reader with the option to pick up the next books if they wish to follow the adventures of Niall and Colum into their captivity. A tad slow at the start but well-written and free! If you like Vikings and/or historicals, check it out.

Content: Non-con/dub-con, golden showers, public sex.

This is a case of I must have read a different story than a lot of other readers. It's also a case of a good idea not quite realized.

Being set in 806 AD in Viking-plundered-Ireland, there are certain allowances of a historical nature to be made. Namely, the characterization of penetrative sex defining devirginization (new word?! lol) and being penetrated equating to screaming and becoming a woman, essentially.

Innyway.

There are sword fights and claimings, growling and killing, and pseudo BDSM.

Third and first person points if view from the main character in a single paragraph.

Now, if you're looking for a "lighter" short story containing Vikings, fucking and fighting, I honestly recommend this'n. It'll fit the bill. Aside from the POV mashup, the writing is decent and I would want to read more based on the author's imagination here.

I just don't think I'll keep going with this series. :)

Well, let's see, how do I put this... this is really good historical erotica and well... Vikings! I've always been fascinated by this period of history and this book seems to have been well researched as it is exquisitely well done.

I loved Colum's time at the monastery as he 'cleans' out the old texts and writes the new, sanitized version of the church, excellent! His friendship with Niall and they're desires, so well done! And then there's Viggo, the smokin' HOT Viking and his men...

This is my first book by Brad Vance, but I'm thinking I will explore more of his writings and already bought the second in this series.

This is definitely my favourite Brad Vance story so far! Hot-hot-hot! :)

Did you watch the Vikings (2013) TV Series and imagine the storyline following a...slightly different script, from the point where Ragnar attacks the monastery and takes Athelstan as his slave? If so, you're going to love this! :P

For me, the emotional aspect of this story made the sex so much hotter than if it had been just plain erotica. Colum may be Viggo's slave, but there's a measure of kindness and caring there, and some very sexy possessiveness, that takes the sting out of Viggo's sometimes rough and callous treatment of Colum. There's also a mutual respect between the two of them, stemming from the surprising revelation that there's more to each of them than what the other expected.

I did feel a bit sorry for poor Niall (Colum's friend, who is also taken prisoner), although...I guess it wasn't too bad since he did seem to enjoy being used and abused. But I do hope Book 2 will find him with someone a bit kinder and more...appreciative of what he has to offer. Heh. :P

Surprisingly more than just rape and plunder Viking erotica. Colum, a monk busy with religious document work, discovers that his new Viking master has a taste for and knowledge of religious study, too. So there is a bit of actual communication to go along with all the rapey plundering.

The premiss was good, the story telling good, the historical research was good, the settings was good and the sex was good. However this was exceedingly short.
When I finished in a short while, I said, what? I paid $2.99 for this SHORT on Amazon. When I think of the actual BOOK length stories I have purchased for $4 to $7, and have given me reading pleasure for days, I am not quite happy. Either the longer books are underpriced or this was seriously overpriced. Maybe both are true?
I took off 1 star for my perceived lack of value for price paid.

Colum is a educated intelligent monk, who finds his life turned upside down when the monastery is invaded by Vikings. Colum challenges the Viggo, the leader, knowing he can't win but maybe their lives will be spared. He is spared, but he is now living the life of a slave.

This book is not for everyone. It's not flowers and hearts, but it is gritty, intelligent and witty. The relationship between the two mains is fascinating. Being a sucker for Vikings, this was just what I've been looking for.

Historical erotica that I actually quite liked! The details of monastic life are quite rich, Colum's character is quite interesting and the sex was kinda hawt. Be warned though, it's rough and cruel for Niall (who also gets ) but not so much for Colum who looks to be headed for an epic romance of sorts.

Definitely piqued my interest for the next one even though, like this installment, I'll be saving it for when I need a Viking for a challenge!

“Pain that lasts a long time is tolerable; the mind stays tranquil by retiring into itself. Let those parts which are harmed by pain give their own opinion of it if they can.” Marcus Aurelius. This story is somewhat inspired and certainly indebted to Bernard Cornwell’s “Saxon Tales”. This story begins on the Island of Iona (Ireland) in the year 806 AD. Colum mac Faélaín is a young man with a remarkably strong body, with a love of the classics and a delicate touch capable of creating masterpieces with ink on parchment. He is held as a virtual prisoner in a monastery at the sometimes sadistic beck and call of the Abbot and brothers. One morning the monastery is attacked by a band of roving Vikings and Colum pleads to resist and not just be slaughtered as sheep. Barricades were erected and weapons accumulated. When the Viking band approached within hailing distance, Colum challenges the leader to a one on one fight. Viggo Haroldsson accepts the challenge…. I like reading historical fiction and I’m aware of how dangerous the world was in the Dark and Middle Ages but this book presents scenes of carnage and brutality that I wasn’t expecting and (if truth be told) didn’t enjoy reading. I can only assume some readers would like this story but I can’t join them in its praise.

A great read, smooth, fluid, and very erotic. I liked how the author did not back away from raw descriptions of the actual act, especially when Colum is watching how his friend Niall is being treated by his owner.

All in all, fun short read, although I felt like the story Viggo says about the runes and how he learned he would meet Colum came a little out of the left field. However, since this book is part of a series, I suppose the author gets back to this detail - that seems to be of great importance - and gives it its rightful place.

Great job on describing the atmosphere, I loved how citations were introduced to describe what Colum was thinking at times.

And, not to forget, since we are talking about man on man action here, it was hot, hot, hot!

Nice beginning to a new series, especially if you like Vikings. My only complaint is that this is so short. I know there's already a second book, but I'll probably wait until the series is complete and buy them all at once.

So, I decided to review this after I finished the entire series because from my experience with Brad Vance and the stepbrother series, it gets better as you get further into the series. I enjoyed this series more than I expected I would since I've never been a big Viking romance (MF) or D/s fan (MM or MF).

I loved Colum. Which is no surprise since I tend to like anyone who's Irish. When the story starts, he's a monk at a monastery. He bravely faces off with the Viking invaders, loses to the Viking lord Viggo, becomes a slave, and then falls for his captor.

Colum and Viggo's couplings are... Rough, somewhat brutal, but as the series goes on, it evolves into a relationship with mutual love, without losing any of its carnal edge. This isn't hearts and flowers, there's no purple prose, but when one of them says "My Beloved" for the first time (not in this part), I loved it. Make no mistake, though, this is erotica, not a romance novel.

So, warnings. This first part contains non-con stuff (obviously. It's slave!fic after all) though both slaves end up discovering they like it despite themselves. There's one non-explicit golden shower (observed.by the main character),.

The narrative and the dialogue are not archaic English, so if you're picky about that sort of thing, I.e. expect everything to be 'genuine' for the time period, you might want to try a sample first. It didn't bother me since it was like the Hercules/Zena TV shows and older historical movies. Also, this is erotica.

As my first Viking+D/s MM story, I thought this was a good start. Wish it was a full-length novel, but wasn't disappointed either. Kept me entertained and I genuinely liked the characters.

I would have preferred more world building in the first title to be drawn into reading the subsequent titles. Some parts - character interactions - flowed well, but other parts gave me a sense of reading a talented student's creative writing assignment submitted for extra credit after a unit on Norse mythology or early European explorers.

This is a part in a series so the ending is a slight cliffhanger but leads to a good mini series, not a bad read just fast read and its skims over some parts. Starts out with monks and ends with raids of Vikings and a start of a relationship between a monk and his viking lover/master.

Good book for the genre. Nothing bad but nothing great. A good relaxing short book to read after reading a long novel.
