Biography

MATT SHAW was born, quite by accident (his mother tripped, he shot out) September 30th 1980 in Winchester hospital where he was immediately placed on the baby ward and EBay. Some twelve years later (wandering the corridors of the hospital and playing with road kill when he was on day release), the listing closed and he remained unsold, he was booted out of the hospital to start his life as a writer and hobbit – beginning with writing screenplays and short stories for his own amusement before finally getting published when he was twenty-seven years and forty-five seconds old.

Once Published weekly in a lad's magazine with his photography work, Matt Shaw is also a published author and cartoonist. Has to be said, can be a bit of a flirt and definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, somewhat of a klutz.

This did not read like a typical Matt Shaw story, but boy did it showcase some of his supreme solid writing skills. Why the lower rating? I did not like the ending at all. I felt that nothing had closure and the finale created more questions than answers. And the entire story was very traditional haunting/ghost story fare. Nothing unique or particularly interesting, all bogged down by an extremely slow pace. And that made the story hard to stay with, as we navigate Josh and Emily and their resident ghost, Josh. I did enjoy how they treated him like a paranormal pet, of sorts, utilizing a ouija board to communicate. But Josh was sort of a very bland ghost, not really doing anything scary until the very last few pages. And due to the pacing, it was all just underwhelming by the end. It was a decent story, but I think there is a very specific audience for it.

In my best Steffon character voice... This book has everything! Ouija boards, surprises, heartbreak, and twists… That thing from the movie Poltergiest where the living play games with the ghost in the kitchen!

This is the story of Jason and Emily. they move into a new house with their dog Roald. They haven't been there long before strange things start happening in the house and they have the feeling they aren't alone. The house used to be occupied by Aimee and Ian. They moved out after a tragedy befell the family. What is happening in the house and can Jason get to the bottom of the mystery before anymore sadness occurs?

This is something of a different subject matter for Matt to write about. Normally his books are full on, in your face, gory serial killer thrillers. This was a journey into the world of the supernatural. It was well written and I was sniffling quite loudly by the end. The characters were solid, and as this was longer than Matts usual style, they had more of a chance to develop. The pace was blistering and I spent two nights glued to my Kindle not daring to stop lest I miss anything! I thoroughly enjoyed this and recommend it to Matt fans and new readers alike.

Gripping ghost story with an "evil twist."

This is the fifth book I have read from the masterful Matt Shaw. Never before have I read books so quickly! I am unable to put them down! I find myself trying to carve out extra time to read because I can't wait to get back to his stories.
To me, this was a good old fashioned ghost story polished with a like bit of naivety on the part of the home owner, Jason. Jason finds the ghost entertaining and dare I say a friend, playmate. Emily, his new bride, however is unnerved by the presence of a dead boy's spirit lurking around their new home.
Their difference of opinion about the ghost brings about discord in their new marriage. Things begin to change in their lives, some of them permanently.

This is the first book I've read by this author. It was intriguing and had just the right amount of spooks that would start to amp up the adrenaline, but nothing that would keep you up all night. I actually found the story more sad than spooky, but maybe that's me. I felt like some of the story was kind of predictable but it didn't take away from the book. I guess this book just wasn't "it" for me. Not ruling this author out yet though. He has quite a few more books I'm pretty interested in checking out.

Family Tragedy

4.5 Another home run for Matt Shaw. This story is about a boy named Josh who was tragically killed on the street next to his house. His parents sell the house and try to move on. The new couple move in only to find Josh is still there in spirit. Can they continue to live in the house? Is it safe? This story had a lot of mixed feelings for me....a lot of sadness for the parents and loneliness for the boy whose spirit was trapped in the house, a very good read.

Well written and enjoyable...

Matt Shaw is a talented writer with much to offer in this book, The Lost Son: A Supernatural Novel of Suspense. I thought that the storyline was intriguing and exciting. The characters were all full-blown and believable which made it easy to empathize with them.
It was a pleasure to read this book and I had a great time with it. I would highly recommend this book to all fans of the supernatural and just plain creepy...

Great Read:

This was the ultimate Supernatural Suspense Thriller, Good job Mr Shaw. Great writing kept me guessing where this was going. I loved the character's and the idea of the boys spirit but I didn't see the ending coming like it turned out, it made me feel really sad. You won't be disappointed with this one.

The lost son

This book was to long and the story, was to drawn out, it would have made a great short story. There was nothing scary about it. Just characters that were blaise.
