Finnegan O’Sullivan The first time I heard her name, my cold heart warmed. The first time I saw her face, a switch inside me flipped on. The first time I heard her speak, she became my voice of reason. I wanted to know her… Learn her… Love her… She was my new obsession. Violet Jackson The first time I heard his name, my heart found its rhythm again. The first time I saw his face, all of a sudden, everything made sense. The first time I heard him speak, he became my voice of reason. I wanted to know him… Learn him... Love him… He was my new obsession. Sinful Obsession is book five in the mafia misfits series and can be read as a standalone. This story includes depictions of violence; may be sensitive for some readers.
Every time Asia writes about strong black mafia men who love their women, I am completely captivated. I can't get enough of Mafia Misfit series in book 5 we have Finnegan and Violet . Finn embraced Violet without limitation and loved her endlessly; he didn't want to change her; he only wanted to be her long-term companion. Violet and Finn were patient with each other despite their obsession. Violet is a strong woman who I admire for not letting her past define who she is.
I can’t wait for the next book Asia could make 20 and I’ll read them ALL.
Violet & Finn was too fckn cute. I’m obsessed with this series and this book didn’t disappoint. I’m glad Violet was able to see she still had people from her pass who loves her. I’m glad she was able to reconnect with her brother. I hope there’s a book with him & Nozi.
Also her mother deserved exactly what happened to her
Miss Asia! Every read in this series has surpassed the previous one! Everytime I think I love one black mafia family, the next family you introduce ups the ante! So, the O'Sullivan's are it! ❤ I loved Cian, but I adore Finnegan! 😍 He was a man about his job being the family enforcer! No one or nothing could rock his confidence. Then this beauty named Violet, entered his world and he was gone! He couldn't shake his obsession with getting to know her! I loved how he was so patient and gentle with Violet, even before knowing all that she had gone through! Her heart was calling out to him, and he answered on the first ring! 😂 Violet! We really were able to get into her head in this read, and understand her demons! She has gone through hell, and had been slowly putting the pieces of her life back together. Meeting Finnegan and befriending him, was just what she needed. He fit right into her life seamlessly and made her feel whole and lively again! Finnegan didn't want to change Violet or fix her. He just wanted an opportunity to be with her, protect her and love her! Moonlight and Sunshine were perfection! Sooooo, what is up with Sean? Who is this Blair person? She seems like she is going to start some ish with the O'Sullivan family! Can't wait to learn more about him. Now, Luca! How will he react to Violet working with Finnegan and the O'Sullivan's? What else is he up to? This series is the truth, and I love every one of the reads! Looking forward to many more! Great work! 👍👍👍
This time I wasn't so sure the good guys would prevail in this new edition. Thankfully the author saw fit to bring us a very good happily for now love story with Finnegan and Violet. The story had a lot to unpack... I loved it.
Violet and Finn were a fun couple and resolidified book 2 being my favorite because Luca and Finn’s interactions are hilarious 🤣. But to sum this up Violet has past trauma when dealing with men and Finn wants to be whatever she needs no matter what. Finn was fighting her demons alongside her and wasn’t letting up at all! Him popping up because he missed her while she was on an assignment?! My man my man my man!! Finn didn’t give af unless Violet was against it! There was some interesting twist in this story including Nozi and Van. The ending ended up being so sweet! I loved it! Ready for the next book in the series!
🌶️/5 Ehhh. While Violet and Finns story is cute this one didn’t do it for me. It took me so long to finish this. I don’t know what was missing but it was boringgggg. I don’t have nothing else to say Chile. 😂
I was really nervous how Violet's past would play out but Asia Monique kept it off page but still managed to write the pain and rage. How? This book is a good example of crafting a painful experience without gratuitous pain on page.
Also Finn is a gem a bit unstable but still a gem. My man said can I be your friend? Sir, you are an enforcer who enjoys torture. It made perfect sense though to slow their relationship down. He centered her safety, checked in with her, and also tried to shield Violet. I approve. Listen when she found out her answers from the past I absolutely was ready to flip tables over. This book though feels like somethings are about to go down so I can't wait for the next book.
The O'Sullivan family tree is big so I can't wait to find out who they are paired up with. Oh and the slight tension between Luca and Finn I need more of that. Why do they get on each other's nerves? There's so much to find out 🤔
The one thing I wanted/hoped to see that Violet went to therapy or some sort of support group. Now it seems like she did some work but was still struggling. So love fixes her past read like almost the reason she's happy, that I don't love. The work Violet is doing though and how she's helping others deal with abandonment balancing it out (in my mind).
CN: sex trafficking, drug addiction, death of a grandparent, missing girls, murder attempt, kidnapping, gun and knife violence, torture, hysterectomy, absentee parents, unprotected sex, abandonment
Fin and Violet full of love and healing. The ongoing plot weaved through each book never disappoints. The plot twist of Violet's why and what happened to her family was unexpected. The O'Sullivan are intense and extremely romantic. This was a love story that needed a few more pages. The intimacy scenes were rushed and lacked detail.
Violet and Finn's story came together nicely. I loved how intrigued Finn was with Violet. He knew immediately she was the woman for him and refused to let her out of his sight. The attraction was mutual, but I liked that they went at their own pace, getting to know each other. I was happy that Violet reunited with her brother, although the way it happened was unexpected. Violet getting the truth about her disappearance was so disappointing, and I didn't blame her for what she did afterward. Violet and Finn's new chapter is just beginning, and I'm looking forward to what's next for these two.
Finnegan just took 1st place over Luca. That man loved Violet with everything in him. When he hadn’t heard from Violet he went straight to Luca and didn’t care. He was all about her. He made Violet feel safe something she needed so much in her life. She was so broken after what happened to her. Finnegan loved her and filled in those broken pieces of her. Absolutely loved this one.
I've devoured every single word on these enchanting pages, feeling them course through my veins and ignite a fiery passion within me. Each sentence, each paragraph, has pierced my heart and resonated deep within my soul. The words have become a lifeline, a solace in the darkest of times, as they weave a tapestry of emotions that overwhelms me with a love so intense it consumes my entire being. With every turn of the page, my heart soars with excitement, my spirit dances with joy, and tears of sheer adoration well up in my eyes. This series has captured my heart, forever etching its indelible mark upon my very essence.
Despite the heaviness of some of topics discussed in this story this was a really good love story. You could feel the love and obsession Finn and Violet had with each other. I'm glad everything worked out especially with Valen. I also had a feeling that's the direction the story was going with the mom.
Finn and Violet were made for each other. To learn that Violet mother played a hand in what happened to her. I wanted to go in this book and slap her myself.
Book 5 in the series and the trope iss... Instant love
You would think we will be done with the trope by now but nope. She threw in some "stalking" in there to throw us off, which was all tell by the way we only got one scene of the stalking.
And apparently they were friends to lovers
Where did this couple even come from, they are so random. AND BORING. Not in a fun way... in a this people are so boring they make boring sound fun, and mind you I love boring people as a fellow boring person myself. But this too take it up a notch. They had potential too with the girls past and whatever. Oh when she found out her mom was the reason behind the abduction, and offed her
(spoilers included) This was good as all the books in this series so far have been. There was just something missing/off for me about it and I’m not sure what it was. I enjoyed Violet’s healing journey and Finn’s role in loving her broken parts as well, but there was something about their story that just felt… toxic (?) even for mafia romance, which is usually steeped in violence and a moral ambiguity. I didn’t love the way the Valen situation was handled either and there were just all sorts of niggling bits I had with this one that I didn’t have with the others. Also how on earth did Violet become such an instantly accomplished assassin having not growing up in the life… I don’t know.. something didn’t jive with this for me. I still enjoyed it as much as I’ve enjoyed this series and I’m still obsessed but this isn’t my favourite in the series so far.
This is book 5 in this series. Please check trigger warnings before reading. Violet and Finn were the perfect match. They complimented each other well. Violet was so guarded due to her but was very passionate about making sure to help as many people as possible. She didn’t expect Finn to be there for was she never thought she would experience again. I rated this book 2.8 ⭐️ and 1 🌶️.
The fifth installment in the **Mafia Misfits** series, and it serves as a masterclass in the "obsessed hero" trope. While many mafia romances lean heavily into cruelty and enemies-to-lovers friction, Monique continues her trend of writing Black Alpha leads who are dangerous to the world but utterly devoted—and soft—for their women.
Here is a detailed breakdown of the novel:
### The Plot: A Shared Fixation The story follows **Finnegan O’Sullivan** and **Violet Jackson**. Unlike some of the previous couples in the series whose stories span multiple books in the background, *Sinful Obsession* focuses on the instant, magnetic, and mutual pull between these two characters.
Finnegan is a member of the O’Sullivan family, known for being calculating and cold. However, the moment he hears Violet's name and sees her face, his world narrows down to her.
Violet is a resilient and determined heroine who has survived her own trials. When she meets Finnegan, she doesn't find his intensity frightening; instead, she finds a sense of belonging and "rhythm" she has been missing.
The narrative balances the external dangers of the mafia underworld—including the requisite violence and power plays—with the internal development of a relationship that feels like a "voice of reason" for both parties.
---
### Key Tropes & Themes * **Mutual Obsession:** This isn't a "stalker" romance where the heroine is afraid; it is a "he fell first and harder" story where the heroine is just as "all-in" as the hero.
* **Protective Alpha:** Finnegan is the quintessential "touch her and you die" MMC.
* **Black Love in the Underworld:** A staple of Asia Monique’s work is the centering of high-status, wealthy, and powerful Black characters within a dark, contemporary setting.
* **Found Family:** As with the rest of the *Mafia Misfits*, the O’Sullivan, Moretti, and Bianchi family dynamics play a heavy role, providing a rich backdrop of loyalty and humor.
---
### Character Dynamics Violet Jackson stands out as a "hero" in her own right. Reviewers often praise her resilience—she isn't a damsel in distress who needs saving from her own personality. She is sharp and takes care of business, which makes her the perfect match for Finnegan.
Finnegan O'Sullivan offers a refreshing take on the cold mafia lead. While he is deadly, his "switch" being flipped by Violet shows a vulnerability that is a hallmark of Monique's writing. He isn't trying to break her; he is trying to claim and cherish her.
---
> **Reading Order Tip:** If you want the full experience of the O'Sullivan brothers, it is recommended to read the series in order: > 1. *Sinful Vow* > 2. *Sinful Redemption* > 3. *Sinful Surrender* > 4. *Sinful Desire* > 5. **Sinful Obsession** > 6. *Sinful Enforcer* > 7. *Sinful King* > 8. *Sinful Secret*

TW - depictions of violence, rape (mentioned), sex trafficking (off page, discussed), problematic family members, inability to conceive, drug addiction (secondary character, mentioned), stalking (affectionately), depression (mentioned), murder (on page)
CW - toe/feet play (?), throat grabbing
Tropes - dark, mafia, obsessed, possessive, rich (af), light stalking
“If you break it, I’ll chop you into little pieces and hand deliver them to your father.” “That sounded a lot like a declaration of love.”
This was cute and a fun read for me. It reminded me why mafia romances and bosses / capos with money are defo my jam 👅
Finn (MMC) was clearly obsessed with Violet (FMC) from the start and was not afraid to act on it. He kept it real for the entirety of their story and I loved that. They were cute and fun and hot and I loved that he held Violet in such high regard that was unwavering. Violet is a baddie in her own right and I though the 2 made a perfect pair.
Where this book fell flat for me is that I don’t feel like much happened in this book, like I didn’t really feel like there was a plot being threaded throughout the story but I did still enjoy it all the same hence 3.5 ⭐ rounded up to 4 ⭐. I also think another round of edits would be beneficial, some of the errors kinda pulled me out of the story
Scale: ⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite ⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪
🫑 - no smut 🌶 - no point 🌶🌶 - mediocre at best 🌶🌶🌶 - standard smut, hot 🌶🌶🌶🌶 - 🥵 okay, some CW 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 - fuck me 🥵🥵 CWs / filthy with a side of filth - see Poison / Room Twenty-Two: Hide and Seek
The last book did nothing for me. This book has me back on track and I enjoyed it. Moonlight and Sunshine - Violet and Finn were each other’s half. They filled the pieces that were missing for each other. She needed to be covered and he was that for her. He needed a ride or die and she was that for him. She’d had a traumatic and life altering experience that shaped her into the person she was currently - angry, revengeful, and guarded. Finn saw her and knew she was his and stopped at nothing to pursue her and show her she was meant to be his and he was meant to be hers. The way they were with each other was awesome and they just clicked. He respected her boundaries off top while letting her know and showing her his intentions. She quickly began to trust him and let her guard down with him. She found him to be her safe place. The mafia life isn’t for the weak of heart and these two were in the thick of it. People trying to take them out, traitors, infiltrators, and more making them have to stay on their toes. He held her down when she needed him and she had his back as well.
im done. VIOLET(moonlight) AND FINN(sunshine) HELLO??????? my fav pair omg i loved them so so so muchhhh
some of my fav moments:
"I love you, Sunshine.” I pressed my lips to her forehead and murmured into her skin, “I love you, Moonlight.”
I took a deep breath and let my insecurities go. She’d known exactly what I needed. “With you,” I corrected. “I’ll do great things with you.” “Yes,” she agreed. “Which is why I need to get my dress on. I’ll see you soon, husband.” The smile in her voice conjured one of my own. “I’ll see you soon, wife.”
Finn rested his back against the coffee table and patted the space between his legs. I crawled where he wanted me and turned so that my back was facing his front. He brought his lips to my ear and whispered, “Watching you realize you remembered how to play got me a little choked up, baby.” I wasn’t even facing the man and tried to hide my smile. “When I told you I wanted to see you happy…” he buried his face in my neck. “…this was the kind of happiness I meant, Moonlight.” I stroked the strings on my guitar while his words settled tenderly in my heart.
LIJE HELLOOOOOOOOO???? also beside them being cute they are soo badass to

“where you see pieces of yourself missing, i see the places meant for me to fill. i see you, mama. i know who you are, and i love you even more for it.”
everything i said about the last book and its couple being my favorite thus far are now null and void because this one completely blew me away. to be fair, i don't know what i expected from this story, but it certainly wasn't what i got because i could have never imagined a more fitting pair than these two. moonlight and sunshine, indeed. they were complementary opposites. for some reason, i thought jazmina would be the one with violet's feisty personality, but it suited her character and arc so much more than if it had been the other way around. and finn was also a welcoming surprise, his antagonistic bromance with luca made sense. i adore how all these blood families are coming together to become one big chosen family, no matter their criminal ties and alliances.
Miss Monique weren’t lying when she said sinful obsession, these two were tapped from the get go.
I liked this book, although this book was slower than the rest, it was more about the build up of them growing into a comfortable space to openly love, Violet building trust for Finn and allowing her to feel safe.
Violet’s growth in this book was nice to see, from being shielded due to her past , to becoming more open and rediscovering herself again.
One thing though, her and Finn don’t play about each other. Violet will hit the girls with “watch your mouth” & feel no way about it.
Finn was really that guy & he gave her all the space to heal and also break at the same time. I loved him for it.
The plot twist caught me off guard in a good way, I thought Nozi had ties to Violet but I was surprised to learn otherwise.
Asia Monique gives what is needed in each and every book, I expected to love Violet and Finn based on their interactions in book four and I was not disappointed. Finn's brand of being so unserious and crazy was exactly what Violet needed, he was patient knowing that she was watching him and then doing everything at her pace when they became friends and not trying to change her was so good. While Violet, she's a fighter at heart so she didn't need someone to right the wrongs done to her because she has been doing that herself and wanted to do it herself but she genuinely just needed a safe space and someone to be able to trust and feel that support. I would've thought this was faced paced if I didn't remember this obsession started at the wedding and was basically a year in the making and also that when the Mafia Misfit men love they love hard! but I was eating it up either way.
In Sinful Obsession, Finnegan O’Sullivan and Violet Jackson have their eyes on each other, but it’s not until someone tries to kill Finnegan that Violet makes a move. But is Finnegan ready for all of Violet’s secrets? Is Violet ready to reveal them?
This is not my favorite book in the series. Finnegan and Violet were weirdly corny at times, but I’d be remiss to say that they were my least favorite couple. There were definitely some minor mistakes that should have been caught in the final round of editing, but nothing that would take you out of the story. They’re still having condomless sex without talking about at least testing for STDs, but nobody else does so I’ll let the author make it.
Ultimately the story gave me what I was looking for: Instalove with a good plot. So if you like Family Reunions, Unconditional Love, and justice, then this book is for you.
omg i love the O’Sullivan family so much!! the way they included violet right away and how deeply they all care and respect each other ugh i needed more of them!! this book was so good, friends to lovers kinda is the best thing ehehe violet and finn had such a beautiful powerful story im so in love with them!!! i think i think i found my fave couple ehehe loved this book, loved the story the plot and i love this family so much, now im ready for gaia and rocco's book aI just know they will top everyone!! so ready and this series is so much fun and fast paced and good, despise the insta lovey situations sometimes, its really good and i need everyone to read it and talk about it!! i don't want it to end to be honest i need asia to write about the others too ehehe really interesting in nazi tbh i think he deserves a book, also sean too!! but go ead it please
Asia Monique's Sinful Obsession is hands down a five-star work! The writing is on point. There are all the things, suspense, thrills, and love. At times, I was so into the plot and characters that I felt their emotions. Violet is my shero! I love how resilient and dertermined she was. I related with the fact that no matter what had happened to Violet, she was determined to find love and give love. Both Fin and Violet do not hesitate to take care of business, let alone one another. I was blown away by the plot. I wasn't expecting much from the plot, but OMG! Asia Monique gave us an intriguing storyline that gripped us from the beginning and didn't let go until the very end. Sinful Obsession is perfect, an erotic, strong storyline very well carried out. I would love a book tow of Violet and Finn.
