With simple and rhyming text and beautiful illustrations, this book, ideal for the youngest of readers, tells about Ollie, a small and curious zebra who loves discovering the world alongside his dog Fred. Among the things Ollie loves especially are holidays, and together with Fred he enjoys them by trying new things, such as playing on the beach and eating ice cream. At the end of the day, during bedtime, his favorite thing to do is to remember how much fun he had and to relive it all over again with Fred.

I love the vacation, so the book caught my eye. I love the way he appreciates his things, and I could learn how to celebrate all the things around me through this book. The book reminds me the experience of class demonstration about the lesson ‘gratitude’. I think the book can be connected to the lesson ‘gratitude’. The book teaches how to love the things around oneself, after learn about how to love things, it can be connected to the gratitude.
This book is set toward a very young audience. I chose it because for younger students it is a good way to help with relating to a book. There are variety of experiences that are discussed that students would be able to relate to and talk about.
Although Ollie and Fred love picking up shells and splashing in the sea when they go on vacation, most of all they love the time they spend together. With simple ink on watercolor illustrations surrounded by plentiful white space, this rhyming picture book text will bring a smile to the face of its readers, reminding us exactly why we love vacations.
I love Vacations by Anna Walker 2008 is a picture book for young children. This cute little book has simple text and pictures of everything one does in the summer such as ice cream, swimming, the beach. Nice books for begging of school year for teachers when students are transitioning into school and drawing/writting about what they did for the vacation.
This book was simple, but cute. I liked the rhyming scheme it had and I also think it would be a good one to read to kids to get them to discuss or write about or draw a picture of their favorite vacations or where they would like to go. Even though the story is just okay I still think it would be good to read to students just because of the possibilities of activities it presents.
Vacation books are often pretty long and boring and geared towards an older set. I like this one because it's good for tots. Almost too good for tots though, with a plot simple enough to be a board book.
Simple picture book about a zebra named Ollie going on vacation to the beach. Soft watercolor illustrations and rhyming text capture the things to see and do at the beach. A great summer read for preschoolers.
Ollie the zebra and his dog, Fred, take off for vacation in this fifth installment of Anna Walker's charming series. Playful illustrations and word choices, "I love sandy sandwiches."
A serviceable, but not particularly exciting, book about all the things zebra (is he a zebra?) likes about a beach vacation. No explanation of vacations not ALWAYS being on the beach!
