Very good overview of the early years of Syria, King Hussein's struggle for British recognition of Arab land, and King Faisal's disappointment with both the British and French machinations over treaties, agreements, mandates, and borders. Time frame covers WWI and the Paris treaties after the war. Some coverage of the rebellions, Palestine, and Iraq. Well balanced chapter at the end of the book discussing the reasons behind British and French wavering and overlapping treaties.
