A semi-fictional account of the slave uprising in 1733-34 on the Danish West Indies island of St. Jan, reconstructing the island's ways of life, the actions of planters and Africans, and the uprising's outcome
I WAS GLADD TO FINISH THIS BOOK. IT WAS ONLY 400 PAGES BUT HAD OVER 120 CHARACTERS. tHE NUMBER I KNOW AS THEY WERE LISTED IN BACK OF BOOK. IT WAS A TRUE STORY AND EVEN THE REAL NAMES OF THOSE INVOLVED WERE USED BUT IT WAS MORE LIKE A MILITARY REPORT THAN A HISTORICAL NOVEL. STILL IT WAS WELL WRITTEN AND I WAS ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH WHO WAS WHO. I HAD READ OF THIS SLAVE REBELLION BEFORE BUT NEVER IN SUCH DETAIL. I MAY COME BACK LATER AND RAISE THIS TO 5 STARS?????
