This poem book, I think, is aimed for older audiences. Though the poems are simple and short, they have a sense of nostalgia. If you are reading a kids book and you start to feel nostalgic, that book was more than likely written by the author for older audiences. My favorite poem is "Wintry." It talks about the solemn silence that comes with the cold of the year. I feel this is true about winter, although there is Christmas and New Years, there seems to be a sense of emptiness during the months of January to mid-March...
I was a little confused about the age range for this book as it appears to be made for children; however, some of the poems are a little more somber. They include subjects like death. So I wasn't exactly sure what mindset I should be consuming this with.
The illustrations were very cute. Simplistic but very effective.
My favorite two poems are "Rain Song" and "Little" which both have a tad bit of a sad undertone.
It's a charming book but it doesn't have a ton of content to it.
I read "August 28" in this book. This poem was about birds and what the author saw about those particular birds. All the poems were about small things.
