I love love love Julia Cook. I was fortunate enough to hear her speak at a conference last summer. I have several of her books and use them regularly in the classroom. I read the Booger book to my Kindergarten students. Believe me, they need to hear it! Julia does such a great job making books that teach lessons to kids in ways that are easy for them to understand and remember. She's so creative! Be forewarned this is not for those with a queasy stomach, she does describe the varied consistencies of boogers (in detail). Kids find it humorous though and it really does deliver and important message about health.

April 13, 2020I like this book because it gives us the perspective of the booger. I would read this book to lower grade levels. This could help students form a connection with their booger so they could be like oh my boogers have feelings as well. This also shows students the goods and bad about boogers and how they help us.

Eh. It was like a mom's nagging (no offense mom!) set to pictures. A bit preachy and if your child needs to know this, it might be helpful. It did say what the mucus on the nose was for, so that is a good thing for kids to know. The illustrations didn't do anything for me either.

I Am a Booger teaches kids the benefits of boogers but how to properly handle them. Instead of picking your nose, hurting yourself, and getting your hands dirty, it shows why it's better to use tissues. It will encourage kids to keep clean and wash their hands.

This book is AMAZING! It is hilarious and does an awesome job of presenting students with the reality of disgusting booger picking and eating, along with some scientific reasoning of why we have boogers and why we should NEVER touch them and especially NEVER EAT THEM! Great book to discretely cut down on the booger picking and eating in the classroom!

June 24, 2015Perfect fun story to use to talk to the kids about washing their hands, germs and picking their nose. This would be used at the beginning of the year to show the children what the expected behavior for the class is.

Pretty good advice even though there are copious exclamation marks and all the boogers look like turds.
