Bernardo the bull was big, bulky and brave and he hated red. The day he chased the firetruck caused lots of trouble for him and the firefighters.

The doctor and farmer had a great solution for Bernardo to live happily at the farm and not see red anymore.

I loved this book - it had all the elements of a book that can be read over and over with parents and children enjoying it every time. The story was solid with a successful resolution, the illustrations by R. W. Alley are spot on and delightfully detailed to give younger kids things to look at and find with prompting. And lastly I am a sucker for happy endings and this book delivers.

This is a fun story of a bull named Bernardo who lives on a farm (he's kind of the antithesis of Ferdinand from The Story of Ferdinand.) The illustrations are hilarious and the story is entertaining and good for beginning readers. Our youngest brought this book home from her first grade class to practice her reading and she read it aloud to me. We enjoyed reading this book together.

This is a GREAT story that will keep your kids engaged from start to finish. Read about a big, bulk and brave(? more like stupid) bull who hates red and see where his hate for the color lands him. Great early reader for boys.
