When the past collides with the present one best hold on with both hands
Izzy Marks was once knocking on the door of Olympic fame but life made other plans and Izzy recovered as best she could. Even the regret turn of events with the recent death of her husband has rattled but not knocked down her self-worth. She sees the best that life gave her every time she looks at her daughter. When moving her daughter to Nashville for college Izzy realizes perhaps she should stay here and face the past that drove her out of town and build a new future filled with promise and hope.
Quinn Murray left hockey for broadcasting but he is still on top of his career despite the dark secret that he lives with and tries to escape from every day. His boss is a manipulative and vindictive woman who uses Quinn to punish Izzy for the past decisions. Quinn right now has one objective, to figure out a way to move away from the hold she has on him and hopefully figure out how to get Izzy into his life.
Seeing Izzy again has Quinn remembering how he carried a crush in his youth and love into his adulthood for her. Izzy an Quinn move quietly from friendship to love and both let it take them over in perhaps happiness. When Izzy is attacked, Quinn knows it is time to flush out the demons especially when you know the devil. Quinn and Izzy have the potential for a lasting relationship and now is the time to grab on and hope for the best.

Izzy Marks is no ordinary woman. Once a marvel on the United States ice skating circuit, she threw it all away to live a life outside the spotlight and raise her daughter. But when her husband suddenly dies, leaving her penniless, Izzy returns to her hometown of Nashville to once again, pull herself up by her skate strings.
Quinn Murray is no ordinary man, although most days, that's all he wishes for. Once a famous but womanizing hockey player for the Nashville Predators, his career took a horrible slide, when a car crash, blackmail, and a scheming employer drove Quinn to early retirement and self-loathing.
When Izzy returns to Nashville, a chance encounter with Quinn sparks a romance, a mystery they must solve and a longing the two of them can't deny nor accept. Enter the scheming Serena, a mysterious woman from both their pasts, who, for her own secret reason is determined that neither will find love or happiness again.
From it's opening pages, I loved every minute of Fresh Ice. Not only has author, Sarah Bradley weaved a fine and suspenseful mystery, but she also takes us into the world of championship ice skating, national hockey and a story not to be missed. Her characters are good people with good secrets. Her villain will keep you hoping you never have someone like this in your life! And as for the story itself, it will keep you page turning well into the night to see if Izzy and Quinn can ever, despite all odds, resolve the past and find a future together.

We start this off with a very somber event. Who is Jason? Who is Izzy? Who are all the other people that are currently around her? What happened in the past 3 years that have taken Izzy from a comfortable life to a practical pauper? Who are Quinn and Serena? What happened to Jason? Why is Serena angry with Jason and Izzy? What happened to her 19 years ago? When Izzy is driving her daughter to Tennessee to go to college, what does she tell her daughter about how she met Jason? What happened to between them and their relationship with Serena, such as it was? What happens one day after Quinn meets up with Izzy again in Tennessee? What does she tell him, and what does he do on air that gets Serena all hot and fired up? What does he say to Serena? This book is so full of mystery, suspense, intrigue, and revenge it isn't even funny. It was most definitely one of the most romantic books I've read at the same time. Watching as different people have to overcome different obstacles. With a murderer in the mix? Wow. Just wow. I look forward to reading the next book in this series!

Suspense, romance, and Waffle House...how can this not be a great book? I fell in love with the city of Nashville a few years back while on a Valentine's weekend with my husband to see Rick Springfield play the Wild Horse Saloon. I knew I was going to write a book set in Nashville. I wanted to bring the feel of that amazing city to a story about falling from grace and finding redemption. The setting may not be universal, but the themes of this book are, and I used my own touches of humor to lighten things a tiny bit.
This is not a book for children. Again, like my other books, it's not graphic in nature, but the themes and situations in the book will, at the very least, be over the heads of younger readers.

As I said in the cover quote, this is a moving love story about starting over. How the choices we make set off a domino effect for years after. And how one person, one smile, can change everything.
With relatable characters to get behind and an antagonist you want to hate, this emotional and sometimes funny story takes you from desperation and despair to a glimmer of hope. Recommended.
