Cupid's Pursuit

Matthew Malarkey is a man on a mission. To find a soul mate. Following the breakup of his marriage he has searched in vain for a new relationship. Encouraged by his good friend Cecil Delaney, he has lived a hectic social life, trawling bars and clubs, but with no success in finding that meaningful connection. Cecil, a straight talking, cockney Londoner who loves to party, suggests that he tries the world of internet dating. Matthew signs up on line in the pursuit of love and embarks on a series of dating escapades, with a variety of ladies, only to find that Cupid does not make the quest for love easy. As Matthew searches for that elusive spark, he finds himself becoming involved in a succession of entanglements, culminating in a date he doesn't want - with the law.

I write what I call 'serious humour,' amusing situations that thread their way through a serious plot. The two can mix although they do sound like a contradiction. This is the tone of the Pursuit Series of books (Cupid's Pursuit, Vegas Pursuit, Diamond Pursuit and Spanish Pursuit).

It is my view that there are already plenty of heavy, intense works out there to challenge the intellect and perhaps, just occasionally, the reader might like something fun and light hearted. My aim then, is simply to entertain the reader and my style is light and easy on the consciousness... I hope... but it doesn't mean the story can't have some complexities. Still, humour gives you licence to go where you choose. I quite like that freedom.

Cupid's Pursuit is such a book - light and fun. However, beneath the comic adventures of the central character, Matthew Malarkey, lies a social comment on the internet dating phenomenon that will appeal to both male and female readers.

The follow up novel, Vegas Pursuit (Fleeing Sin City), takes Matthew on a big adventure to celebrate a big birthday where once more fate conspires to make life anything but straightforward!

Diamond Pursuit, the third in this series, finds Matthew on a trip to Ibiza that goes horribly wrong. Following the publication of the third book, I revisited my first book and produced a 2nd edition. By that, I really mean a re-write, just to tighten it up.

With that out of the way, I started on a fourth novel in the series and in 2020, published Spanish Pursuit, which, as the title suggests, is set in Spain.

Most of the situations that appear in the books are based on real life. Yes, even the most outlandish ones but with the added flavour of poetic licence. My characters are a mix of the most extreme sides of a number of people I have encountered in life, with a healthy shovelful of exaggeration.

I hope you enjoy them all.

Surprisingly very funny in places, but not one I would really recommend. Light hearted story of a mans attempt to find love by internet dating

Couldn't keep reading....too many minor details. The book just didn't keep a good pace for me.
