This, for sure, is my least favorite volume in the series. While the first three volumes were akin to watching a sprinter racing at full gas, this last one is like watching a marathoner who's been in first place all this time suddenly slowing down just as you see the finish line and stumbling to 3rd place. It was a letdown for sure.

The thing is, readers know, more or less, that this volume would be the climax, the big reveal. Everyone is expecting it. And yet, for the first 80% of the book, for the first time in the series, the author chooses to slow down and give them not one, but two, slow and normal dates. The dates themselves aren't a bad idea, but goodness how sedate and prolonged they were. That coupled with the multiple flashbacks of their month together made my reading pace crawl. There wasn't even much of the secondary characters. It was just them dating and preparing for the big reveal.

And when you set it up that way. Just building and building the hype and anticipation for one moment, especially when you choose to make it not just the climax but the finale as well, you have to deliver with a bang too. After all that, the confession was so normal, underwhelming and expected. I didn't even feel the least bit moved or teary-eyed; just an overwhelming sense of "that's it?"

There were some cute moments while they were dating but it would have been cuter after the confession. By choosing to place so of those scenes before the confession, rather than foreshadowing, it just straight-up spoiled the ending.

I'd still read the next volume though just because I like the characters and want to know everyone's reaction (if they plan to tell them).

Took me way longer to read than it should. The series has always dragged a bit, but this one was painful to get through. I eventually just started skimming so I could mark it finished. The book is very sweet and soft, but also slow and boring.

The volume I was most looking forward to in this series but the author dragged the story as much as humanly possible. Very, very tiring to read, took me forever to finish this volume.
