Rate this book
[Siren Classic: Erotic Paranormal Romance, shape-shifters, HEA] While Aiden Fairbanks was willing to try anything once, being kidnapped, drugged, beaten, and held against his will wasn't one of his choices. Captors unknown, location unknown, and probability slim to none, his options are severely limited. Until she comes to him, to soothe and confuse him all the more. As a doctor Talina Marshall thought she'd seen it all, or at least most of it, but when she becomes an unwilling accomplice to Aiden's torment she realizes just how naive she'd been. Determined to keep him as safe as she can, Talina puts herself between him and harm's way time and again, anything to keep the gentle giant safe. But just when she thought life couldn't get any more dangerous or bizarre, Aiden pulls her into his world and opens her eyes to all that is really out there. Now all he has to do is convince her to stay and love him and let him show her his in return. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

I'm really not loving the excessive use of endearments. Over use of them is a pet peeve of mine, so not everyone will mind like I do, but I felt the need to mention it. Some authors pile them on, which usually ends up annoying me. So far I've seen honey, darling, my angel, sweetheart, sweetness, (my) love, my heart, etc. They're used by both the H and h and so, it gets to be too much at times. He'll use them, like 2-3 times in one breath, she'll reply with some of her own. Repeat over and over. It seems a good portion of the dialog is taken up with endearments. I exaggerate...a little. But still. I'm of the mind that they should be used sparingly, for those special moments to re-affirm a love or bond or during sexy times or to comfort. Not all the time.

Example:

Also, what's with the Talina's speaking? It seems off. And by this, I mean sentences like:

I love that so very much
I am so very hungry
She turned so very bitter
You got so very hurt
Because that feels so very nice
Things that I so very much look forward to enjoying

I don't know anyone that talks this way.
I love that a lot (or I really like(d) that). I'm really hungry (even I'm famished). You were injured badly. It/That feels really good. I really look forward to enjoying.
These things sound more, well normal, do they not?

I just thought it was a bit weird, especially because Talina was raised human, is a DR and everything else.

All this being said, Aiden is a nice guy. Dragon shifters are cool. The romance wasn't bad, I just, due to my pet peeve, found some things less swoon-worthy and more annoying. LOL
