anyone interested in records such as the Earth's hottest place or its driest spot or its biggest cave will find the answers inside this easy-to-read book. There are large photographs of all the record-holders.

This was going great until it ended so abruptly! Only 24 pages long, it should've been twice the length - minimum.

As with other books in the Capstone WOW series, this earth-themed one offers superlatives for very young readers: hottest, coldest, driest places on earth. The nuggets of information that are offered are so minimal, and sometimes disjointed, as to be of little value, even for very young researchers. The world's largest cave is presented without explaining the meaning of "cave," even in the glossary. Though there is research value in Table of Contents, Glossary, Read More, Internet Sites, and Index, things like photo illustrations with unclear perspective detract from overall worth.

Loved it - full of cool tidbits kids are sure to relate to. The language is good, and my second grader who returned it today thoroughly.
