*I received this book as a DRC. Patterns, Patterns Everywhere is composed of a brilliant combination of rhyming, beautiful pictures, and patterns! I loved it, and I would say that the illustrations are among the best I have ever seen in a children's book. I know that children will love this book and the lesson that it teaches.

There is much more to a book than the words on its pages. In "Patterns, Patterns Everywhere" by Kellie Menendez, children explore colors, shapes, and patterns found in the world around them. "I see patterns everywhere, patterns BIG and small. They fill the pages of this book –– can you find them all?"

Outside, you will find patterns everywhere. Whether it's flowers, leaves, or trunks of trees, patterns are everywhere.

Some patterns can be heard when you close your eyes. The barking of a dog, Woof, woof, woof, or the sound of an owl, Woo, woo, woo.

Colorful patterns adorn the feathers and wings of birds and butterflies.

When you play outside, you see patterns and make them. You create a back and forth pattern as you swing on a swing. Every time you take a step, your shoes make a rhythmic beat.

Colors and patterns abound in big cities. Buildings have patterns that architects design that make them unique.

Pajamas you wear to bed, as well as the clothes you wear every day, often have patterns.

Visiting museums and libraries is a great way to find patterns. In the art lining the walls and in the books lining the shelves, patterns are found everywhere.

Anything that repeats is a pattern. Colorful lines on a piece of paper or the beat of your favorite song can form patterns. There are many different kinds of patterns: shapes, sounds, numbers, words, and even emotions. There is a lot of similarity between a pattern and a puzzle. It helps you predict what will come next, sort things based on color, or sort them by size. Patterns are everywhere.

There are patterns all around us, they are everywhere we look. There are lots of patterns to discover throughout the pages of this book, which will appeal to children as they listen to it being read. Then, go outside or take a field trip to a museum, zoo, or around town to find more patterns. The possibilities are endless when crafting with children with patterns. This book is fantastic and I highly recommend it.

“I see patterns everywhere,
Patterns big and small,
They fill the pages of this book–
Can you find them all?”

Patterns, Patterns Everywhere by Kellie Menendez explores the concept of patterns, the fundamental structures that shape our world. We see them in nature, art, and everyday life, but we also hear and feel them. Menendez’s illustrations and rhymes bring the entire sensory palette of patterns to the page, urging us to seek more outside them.

Menendez’s debut is the kind of picture book that young readers will have fond memories of reading. Her timeless art and writing style have all the makings of a classic, reminiscent of the textures of Maurice Sendak (Where the Wild Things Are) and the rhymes of Margaret Wise Brown (Goodnight Moon). While the artistry found in the illustrations of animal fur and plants was very beautiful, my favorite patterns in the book were the patterns of music and stories. I think those moments underpin the story’s message that patterns are the language of the universe. I really appreciate the book’s call to action, motivating us to investigate and appreciate our world. The subtle yet effective poetry is incredibly memorable and is perfect for reading aloud to eager listeners.

For the most part, I liked this book. I just had a few issues that made it fall short for me. The first issue I had is most pages rhyme, but not every page. I thought this was weird and it interrupted the book's *pattern* and ultimately interrupted the flow of the book, taking me out of the story. It's a shame I couldn't get fully immersed in this story because the illustrations were beautiful and very well done, with plenty of patterns for kids to search for and notice while reading. The other thing I had a problem with is the definition of "pattern" felt loose and ever-changing throughout the entire book. This confused me and will no doubt baffle the young kids reading this book. This could have been fixed if there was a constant kind of pattern throughout (i.e. only visual patterns). Another way to fix this could have been including a simple and still creative definition of what a pattern is exactly, just to take the learning opportunity all the way.
Overall, though, I did like this book and I think kids will have fun reading it, they just might be a little confused.

I absolutely adore this book! This book was such a delightful read for both me and my kid. The vibrant illustrations are eye-catching, and the playful rhymes made reading it together so fun. He loved pointing out all the different patterns in the pictures. I also enjoyed pointing out patterns that he didn't notice.

I love how this book also encourages kids to look for patterns non just visually but it different areas of life as well.. in sound, in society, and stories too. It's a great way to spark creativity and curiosity. The scientific portion at the end really tied the book together and gave parents and educators a great framework for discussion about patterns in life.

After reading this book, we've been pointing out different patterns that we've come across when we're out and about. It has really allowed us to slow down and observe the world.

Patterns Patterns Everywhere is a thought-provoking, beautiful, unique, nature-filled, and deep story! There is something simply enchanting about this book! It helps the reader wake up and see the wonderful world surrounding them. It can be so easy to fall into autopilot not noticing or appreciating the unique creation surrounding you. I am certainly guilty of this and felt so much appreciation after reading this book. This book is not only for curious children who love learning new things and exploring the world; it is also for adults looking to reconnect with a sense of childhood wonderment. Patterns of sound, nature, art, behavior, and so much more are highlighted in this book. I love the emphasis on visual and non-visual patterns. This book is right, patterns truly are everywhere!

My kids and I loved this cute story! There were lots of beautiful things within each page to look at and not too many words on each page for toddlers to stay engaged in the story. It was also super easy to use for a learning activity by having the kids try and identify all the patterns on each page, and then different patterns in their life. The last page in this book has an informational page explaining patterns and identified different ways patterns are found from music to routines. It was easy to turn this into a conversation. I got the hardcover and want to note that the cover and texture of the lettering was also a fun bonus positive stimulation.

Patterns, Patterns Everywhere is a cute children's book that explores different patterns found throughout the world. I loved the breadth of the patterns that were explored including auditory, vibrations, and more!

At the end of the book, there was a nice section that explained what made a pattern & helped go over the concept for children. I would have loved to see a brief line or 2 about that at the beginning as the patterns were not always super obvious for young kiddos.

Overall great illustrations, and I loved the amount of patterns seen on each page! Thanks to NetGalley, Kellie Menendez, and The Collective Book Studio for the chance to read and review!

There's only inconsistently rhyme or rhythm here, which feels particularly jarring in a patterns book.

The main issue with a lot of patterns books is an over-broad or inconsistent definition of pattern, and that is definitely the case here. Routines as pattern is a potentially good extension of the idea late in the book, but in what sense is a tiger's roar a pattern? There are also patterns of hearing and feeling things that aren't really conveyed in the text or illustrations (the sound of waves on a beach could be a pattern, but the book mostly assumes familiarity with this and doesn't *show* it in any way).

A beautiful picture book with rhyming text . . .

The importance of patterns in our everyday lives and in the principles of mathematics cannot be understated. This author/illustrator has created an engaging narrative supported by beautiful and on-topic illustrations.

Highly-recommended for families, libraries, classrooms, youth/church groups, scout groups, and anyone who appreciates lovely and unique nature artwork.

I was fortunate to win a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway. All of my thoughts and opinions shared here are solely my own.

This beautifully illustrated books is the perfect introduction into patterns for children. Each page colorfully displays a series of patterns to point out and discuss with your children. It is fun to see how many patterns they can discover on their own!

The everyday world has so many patterns, how many can you find?

This nicely illustrated book does a good job of showing patterns in the world around us. I particularly liked that the author pointed out "hearing" patterns, as this is far less obvious than the visual stimuli. I wish the "What is a pattern?" page had come at the beginning of the book so that the reader could properly explain the concept to children before diving straight into the search for patterns.

Thanks to NetGalley and The Collective Book Studio for the read.

Weak illustrations and kind of confusing messaging conflating patterns of behavior with visual patterns, as well as animal behavior with human behavior. I just felt like it was bringing in too many things and trying to be spiritual, but just came out muddled and fell flat. For a book praising the glory of patterns in our world, this book felt super chaotic and disorganized. Swirl by Swirl, We Are Branches, or even I See A Pattern tackle the same concepts SOOOOO much better!

What an eye-opening book to draw our attention to the patterns that are… everywhere! I found my own pattern to take this picture. Written in rhyme, the author tells how we can see, hear, and feel patterns. With beautiful illustrations (also done by the author) we understand the patterns that are seen everywhere! Not only can you and your little have an interactive experience with the book, you can carry the adventure into nature, around the house, in the city, everywhere!

This is an easy to read book for the little ones, it flows nicely and has beautiful artwork throughout the book. It shows how many things that are patterned including not only visual patterns but also audio and behavioral patterns which I find works great as a starting point for the little ones to notice and discuss patterns occurring in their environment.

Excellent book with engaging illustrations and spare words, inviting the reader into a conversation about patterns: from various points of view -- sound, sight, and feeling.

Also check out: the back pages that discuss patterns, and pattern play in math, art, music, and nature.

A lovely tribute to learning and pattern recognition. The art was gorgeous. The rhyming verses had a beautiful, singsongy flow. And the overall message was educational—teaching young readers to notice patterns in the world around us.
