Tales from WWII You Probably Never Heard Before

Tales from WWII You Probably Never Heard Before is a rare collection of short war stories collected during research for Mr. Merrill's award winning video documentaries. The stories are quite unusual and in some cases, almost too incredible to believe. Some of the stoires were discovered hiding just beneath the surface of recorded incidents, while others came from the memories of ordinary people who experienced remarkable and often bizarre incidents that only those war years could provoke. Like the ship that vanished into thin air, the strange flight of a B-17 that occured because of a $5 bet, the soldier who was awarded one of Germany's highest medals and yet he fought for the Allies, and a U.S. Navy unit that had a staggering 710 ships sunk beneath its crews and hardly anyone knew who they were. Merrill's collection of short stories is a must read that will intrigue you, make you smile and perhaps bring a tear or two. It will certainly raise an eyebrow.

I enjoyed the stories in this book and perhaps some of the stories (if researched further) could be made into entire books. The book provides different perspectives of the war with some insights given by the author.

This book was pretty much a complete waste of time, and unfortunately in my case, money.
