As Nantucket reaches the pinnacle of its summer glory, and the Marris sisters welcome guests at Misty Harbor Inn, youngest sister Sam Carter enters her mother's cobbler recipe in the Summerfest baking contest. Can Sam's newfound faith help her rise above the fray and reach out to this lonely woman? Meanwhile, an elderly guest arrives who knows the inn's history, and the sisters are stunned to learn that their late mother lived there as a child. But she told them she'd never been to Nantucket until her honeymoon! In this final book in the Nantucket Dreams trilogy, Carolyn is busy with wedding plans, Gracie is fretting over the sale of her home, and Sam is busy perfecting her baking skills. All three sisters are still trying to solve the mystery surrounding Hannah, who had disappeared decades ago having been branded a thief. With the help of some local historians and a guest who had lived there as a child, they are finally able to piece together what must have happened. As with the other books in the series, the Nantucket setting adds much to the flavor of the tale. The mystery of surrounding the inn as well as the likable characters completes the equation. If there is any complaint about this series, it lies in the fact that there are no recipes to accompany the mouthwatering descriptions of the dishes prepared at the inn.

I'm entering my review on this site even though my books shows the author as Camy Tang, not Evangeline Kelley.

As anyone who knows me can attest, I most often select my summer reads by the book jacket. A quaint cottage with a colorful flower garden, a coastal seashore scene, sailboats, ahhhh, that's my idea of summer reading. The cover to Whispers on the Dock appears to be a seaside watercolor and I had to find out what lie between the covers. I was not disappointed.

Unbeknownst to me this is the third in a series: Nantucket Dreams. Although I will try to locate book #1: Seaside Harmony, by Patti Berg and book #2 by Pam Hanson and Barbara Andrews, Whispers on the Dock does make sense and can stand alone. The publisher is Guideposts and some consider this series to be "Christian" literature. Don't let that put you off. There is no conservative evangelical "Christian" dogma espoused and the word "Christian" does not even appear in print. I do appreciate the lack of both foul language and gratuitous sex.

The setting is summertime in Nantucket where three sisters run the Misty Harbor Inn. There's a little romance, a little history, a little mystery, the approach of the Summer Fest bake off, sunshine, ocean breezes and shell collecting on the beach. A nice, light, summer read. Enjoy!

I have not read the first two in the series and the background would’ve been nice to know. It was ok to read as a stand alone though. Three sisters are opening a inn. Each sister has different plans, one is planning her wedding, one selling her house and one trying for a baking contest. A young niece comes to visit and is very unhappy. They try to figure out their problems, the niece’s problem and the mystery of the secret passage and secret room in the Inn. One thing did seem odd, in an old letter they find a woman who was in a sanitarium in the early 1900’s and none of them could figure out what for, even though to a reader it was obvious that is was TB.

The characters are wonderful, the kind of people you would want to be friends. Sam loves to bake and has decided to enter her blackberry cobbler in a contest. She has to outsmart an opponent who plays dirty. Caroline is planning her wedding but definitely isn't a happy bride to be and last but not least, Gracie is struggling financially and may have to sell the Inn they all love.

They have a mystery to solve and there's lots of twists that will keep you interested in this cozy mystery. This is book three and I recommend reading each one. They leave you feeling satisfied!

I received a copy of this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are great and seem like old friends. I enjoyed watch them solve the mystery of the disappearance of Hanna and the surprises in her genealogy. I hate to see this series end.

The mystery of what happened to Hannah Montague is still in the minds of Sam Carter, Caroline Marris and Gracie Gold, three sisters who are all co-owners of the Misty Harbor Inn. They are still no closer to finding out any more clues than they had hoped and lately everything has been coming to a dead end. With the issue that this happened in the late 1800's before most records were being stored, their only clues have been trying to trace handwritten post cards that Hannah left with encrypted codes. Rumor has it that Hannah went missing and may have stolen money from a church at the time. However the three sisters have a feeling that there is more to the story than what they have heard. When an elderly resident comes to stay at the Inn could she be the one to put all the missing pieces to rest once and for all?

Secret passages and rooms are still being discovered along with boxes and crates of items that belonged to each of the Inn's former owners. Will they be able to uncover the one thing that will link all the missing pieces together or will they find out that poor Hannah Montague met with a fate she wasn't expecting?

In the latest and final novel in the Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn by Evangeline Kelley, Whispers in the Dock ties up all the lingering answers in this heartwarming romance/mystery novel. Evangeline Kelley is the pen name for the writing team of Patti Berg, Pam Hanson, Barbara Andrews and Camy Tang and was one I was waiting for the put an perfect end to my summer reading series of novels. I got this one just in time to head to the beach for a perfect blend of sun, ocean waves and the romance that the ocean always brings.

While the three sisters continue searching for the solution to the mystery of Hannah Montague, each of them also has their own personal issues to deal with. For Caroline Marris is in the midst of making plans for her upcoming wedding to George and is finding things a bit challenging since she isn't feeling like your typical bride should be in looking forward to her wedding as well as searching for a home that they both will share once they are married. She's beginning to wonder if marriage is the right path for her after all.

Sam Carter, the Inn's resident baker extraordinaire is being challenged to enter her latest dessert creation in the town's baking contest, her blackberry cobbler using her mother's recipe with a little tweaking added. However she learns that the contest may be rigged when it seems that Betsy Carlisle has been the winner in the previous four years and then her mother five years before that. Will Sam be able to put the winning streak for Betsy Carlisle to an end or will her dessert wind up on the losing side?

Gracie Gold is still trying to find a buyer for her home since putting in all her inheritance money into the purchase of the Inn. It seems that her thirty five year old home needs more money in renovations than she is willing to spend and she struggles with making a decision to sell the only home that's been in her family for ages or cut her loss and sell it for whatever she can. Will she make the right decision that she can live with?

I received Whispers on the Dock by Evangeline Kelley compliments of Guideposts Publishing and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I received no monetary compensation for a favorable review. I will be missing the three sisters that I've gotten to know this summer during my journey and stay at Misty Harbor Inn. It is bittersweet knowing that at least for now, this is where it all ends. I think the authors did an exceptional job at keeping the cliff hanger mystery going throughout all three of these charming novels and love all the little personal stories that have come along with them and in renovating a childhood Inn that their own mother used to talk about owning one day. I easily rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and will be adding this one to the rest of the novels in this series to my summer beach bag to read again next year to spark those old familiar feelings of romance and intrigue once again.

Evangeline Kelley in her new book “Whispers On The Dock” Book Three in the Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn series published by Summerside Press takes us into the lives of sisters: Caroline Marris, Gracie Gold and Sam Carter.

From the back cover: Three sisters. A charming inn. Hints of mystery and romance. And a gorgeous seaside setting. Escape to Misty Harbor Inn.

Sam Carter, the youngest Marris sister, decides to enter her mother’s blackberry cobbler recipe in the Summerfest baking contest. But she has a formidable opponent, a past winner who is not above engaging in dirty tactics to keep her title. Can Sam rise above the fray to reach out to this lonely woman? Sam and her sisters, Caroline Marris and Gracie Gold, welcome a new guest to Misty Harbor Inn, an elderly woman who knows a great deal of their new home’s history. When she shares her photo album, they are stunned to learn that their mother lived there as a child, even though she told them that she’d never been to Nantucket except on her honeymoon! Why would she lie? What was she hiding? The sisters make an intriguing discovery, not only about Hanna Montague, the young woman who vanished from the house more than a hundred years ago, but about their own family history.

An abandoned inn that has been restored is now officially open for business. A mother’s dream of owning the inn that was re-birthed within her daughters is now a reality. This time the focus is on Sam, the youngest sister, but all three sisters play an integral part of the story. It is a very busy time at the inn; Carolyn is planning a wedding, Gracie is trying to sell her home and Sam is preparing to enter a baking contest. Now with the help of a guest and local historians this trio will attempt to solve the hundred year old mystery of Hannah who disappeared after having been branded a thief. “Whispers On The Dock” is a lot of fun. ”Whispers On The Dock” is a wonderful, sweet story with power and depth that will keep you flipping pages. I really hope that there will be more stories about Misty Harbor Inn and these three sisters.

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of reviewing Seaside Harmony and Sunflower Summer – the first two books in the Postcards From Misty Harbor Inn series. Those books introduced us to Caroline Marris, Gracie Gold and Sam Carter – three baby boomer sisters who reunite on the island of Nantucket after their mother’s death and end up pooling their inheritance money to purchase and open a bed and breakfast.

In the first two books, we are privy to the personal and interpersonal challenges each sister must overcome if their new venture is to be a success, and we begin to learn some of the history and mystery that surrounds the old inn.

Now, in Whispers On The Dock – the final installment in the series by Evangeline Kelley – the sisters face new challenges as the series draws to a close.

• Gracie has a house to sell.
• Caroline has a wedding to plan.
• Sam has a baking contest to win.
• The three sisters have new guests to entertain.
• And, all three sisters have mysteries, old and new, to solve!

In Whispers On The Dock, Gracie, Caroline, and Sam learn more about themselves and Misty Harbor than they ever imagined. They uncover surprising secrets about their mother and their own family history. And, they contend with these things while juggling their needs of their latest guests, who include a woman from the Inn's past, an eccentric romance writer, and a dejected little girl!

If you enjoy cozy mysteries, you’ll enjoy Whispers On The Dock. The book can be read standalone, but I think you’ll appreciate it more if you read the entire series. The book is perfect for a weekend escape or a vacation read!

Book 3 ~*Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn series*~ Whispers on the Dock by Evangeline Kelley, ©2013

Sisters Samantha, Caroline, and Gracie have newly opened Misty Harbor Inn for the summer season in Nantucket. There is a warmth of friendship as they become reacquainted beyond their vacation times together. Each with their own giftings that enhance the other, Misty Harbor Inn begins to welcome guests. Trish comes seeking a quiet writing haven to prepare her manuscript. Doris brings a quiet haven of memories as her family lived above the carriage house in her youth. Her remembrances entwine with the sisters' desires to find out more about the Inn and their connection to it.
Baking has become the fun project and relaxation for Sam as she becomes aware of a baking contest and meets the resident winner. She spends a considerable time perfecting her cobbler until others in the Inn become a little weary of taste-testing.
Caroline and her fiance George are seeking the perfect home as their fall wedding approaches.
Gracie's young granddaughter, Evelyn, unexpectedly visits for the summer during illness of younger siblings. Gracie's gifting is hospitality as she is a welcoming shelter for their guests and enjoys tending to the flower garden. Evelyn entertains Max, their resident dog, and enjoys riding a pony for the first time which helps to ease her loneliness being away from her family.
Misty Harbor Inn enjoys a first summer season. Each sister brings a spark of life that will have you sleuthing with them as mysteries become uncovered.

My Review:

Sam Carter, Caroline Marris, and Gracie Gold are three sisters who decide to go into together to purchase and run a bed and breakfast. The house that they decide to run this business from is rich in historical facts and abounds with mystery. The mystery of the house is very intriguing but little did they know that it would also affect them so closely. Soon they are greeted by a former guest of the historical home that stayed there as a young child. This house guest has alot to share about her stay there.

Meanwhile, Sam decides to enter a local baking contest, And no sooner does she enter she finds out that her opponent is a past winner that plans on winning this time also, no matter what it takes. Its not long before the sisters are definitely relying on the Almighty to get them through this seamlessly.

Whispers on the Dock is the third book in the Postcards from the Misty Harbor Inn series. The book was very entertaining from the start. The authors did a wonderful job of catching from interest from the first page of the book.

Sam, Caroline, and Gracie continue to run Misty Harbor Inn on Nantucket while trying to solve the decades-old mystery of Hannah Montague. Sam still enjoys baking, and is trying to perfect her recipe for blackberry cobbler in order to enter the Summerfest baking contest. The sisters welcome new guests to the inn, a novelist and a former resident of the house. The elderly guest has surprising information that affects the sisters' perception of their own family history.

Ahhh, the plot thickens! The mystery surrounding Hannah Montague really picks up the pace this time with clues and secret passages discovered. It was like reading a middle-aged Nancy Drew, and I mean that as a compliment. For me, this installment was the best of the series.

As for the guests we meet this time, Doris, of course, was a delight as the quintessential sweet, elderly lady. She adds a Miss Marple flavor to the mix. As for Trish and little Evelyn, hmmm....how do I say this without giving away any details? My sympathies are with Evelyn, and Trish annoyed me. But I did enjoy her book titles (Breathless Barbados Belle made me laugh out loud), and I appreciated the reference to Debbie Macomber.

Authors, say it isn't so! The blurbs all say this is the final installment, but some of us have grown very attached to the sisters and Misty Harbor Inn. Please, take us back at least one more time to that cozy little inn on the island.

This history mystery is the very best kind! I love stories that involve modern-day people trying to figure out what happened with their ancestors, and in this story there are two! The connection between characters and the distant time frames keep the story hopping.

I had trouble getting into the story, though, and this was mainly because this is the third book in the series. This story jumped right in and apparently picked up wherever the second one left off, and while I eventually was able to figure out most of what was going on, it was rather frustrating to be out of the loop for a while. The addition of a 'catch-up' section before the first chapter would have been most helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the story once I figured out the main plot pieces and wish that I had understood the action from the beginning.

The cast of characters was fascinating. Each sister had her own thing happening, and when combined with the two historical-style mysteries, Whispers on the Dock is chock-ful of suspenseful action. The authors masterfully combine the drama and the mystery to keep the readers guessing, but they throw in some pretty great life lessons, too.

All told, finishing this series made me want to read the beginning. I may know the ending to the mystery, but I'm still in the dark about all the rest - and I don't want to be. If you like dramatic historical mysteries, this is definitely a series worth checking out!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Whispers on the Dock returns to the Misty Harbor Inn, and the three sisters that are in the first two books in this series. This book focuses mostly on the younger sister Sam. Even though they are going about their daily lives, all three are still interested in finding answers about Hannah and her disappearance a century before. Join these sisters as they continue to uncover information and find their answers.

I absolutely love this book and the entire series. Even through the difficult situations these ladies faced, the story was nice and calm, with that laid back feeling that makes you want to live in a place like Misty Harbor Inn. I loved getting to know the characters of Sam, Doris and Caroline and how each had an important part in their family. And the mysterious Hannah kept my attention well, and I was right there with these ladies as they followed leads they had on finding out the truth! A very exciting story, yet you will be surprised at how relaxing and calm you will feel while reading this book. It is truly amazing how four talented and number one authors comes together with a series such as this. I encourage you to check out Whispers on the Dock, as well as the first two books in this series, Sunflower and Seaside and sit down for the most relaxing read you have ever had!

"Whispers On The Dock" take readers back to Misty Harbor Inn allowing us to reconnect with the three sisters that run the Inn. With this installment the main focus is on the youngest sister Sam who enjoys baking, and hopes to enter the Summerfield baking contest. In addition to the baking contest there is the unique characters that check into the inn as well as the mystery that the three sisters are still trying to solve.
What a wonderful, relaxing read each of the books in the series turned out to be. Even though it had been a couple of months since I read the first two books in the series it was so easy to fall right back into the storyline, because I felt like I was connecting with old friends. I thought the storyline revolving around Hannah Montague was really interesting, it was fun to see the clues unfold around this mystery. Overall, I found this book to be well written and the plot moves along well, I found the storyline relaxing and easy to read. This book is the third book in a series and really the first two books should be read to get the most from this one. Cozy mystery light is how I would describe this one, because there was a mystery but there really was much more than just the mystery going on in the story.

This is the third book in the Postcards from Misty Harbor series - each one dealing with the romance of one of three sisters. I had not read the first two and I suspect it might have helped with this book. While Whispers on the Dock can stand alone, the knowledge of the first two tales would have enhanced it I think. There were references to people and actions from the other stories that while rehashed they just weren't fleshed out enough to make the reader feel fulfilled.

In this story baking, mystery and romance all find their place as the sisters meet a guest at their bed and breakfast who knew their mother. She reveals information that startles them and sends them on a search for their history. There is also a baking contest that has sister Sam at odds with a fellow town member.

This was admittedly a very sweet, easy to read book. It took very little effort on my part as I slipped into the lives of the sisters. In fact I would sometimes find I had turned many a page without realizing I had done so. The plot was nice enough, the characters were nice enough and it was a simple break from heavier books. A pleasant beach read with a cozy mystery and some blackberry tart along the way.

I read the first two books in the Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn series: Seaside Harmony and Sunflower Summer so I had really been anticipating Whispers on the Dock!

I was extremely intrigued by the history and the mystery of the inn in the first two books, especially concerning Hannah Montague. I got just as wrapped up in her story as that of the three sisters and this book focused a lot more on her than the previous two.

The mystery continues to unfold at a faster pace than it did in the last book so early on I wondering, am I finally going to know what happened to Hannah? It builds throughout the book and then finally at the end we find out. I did feel slight disappointment in the resolution. It was a lot of build-up through three books and the mystery wasn't as exciting as I anticipated so it was a bit of a letdown.

Regardless, I loved catching up with the three sisters and seeing a bit more of the focus on Sam, the resident baker. I loved the setting in Nantucket and the writing that made me feel as if I were on the beach with the wind in my hair.

Whispers on the Dock was the final book in the series of three and while I didn't love the end, it was still worth reading and taking a journey with the three sisters as they start their new life at the Misty Harbor Inn.

I actually enjoyed Whispers on the Dock more than the other two books. I enjoyed each of the sisters a little more this go around and found that even though a couple little mysteries popped up in Whispers on the Dock I found that all the loose threads from books 1 and 2 were neatly tied up and it was nice being surprised by the ending of the book. I will admit I thought this would be one of those series where all 3 of the sisters would have a "later in life" romance and of all the sisters I would of really liked to see Sam find that special someone who would treat her right. She was my favorite of the sisters and it was nice to see her character be a little more fleshed out and content in the end.

If you'd like an interesting series to read on a rainy day (or two) or for a stocking stuffer for a romance fan you might want to check out this set of books. =D

This is the third book in the trilogy, Postcards From Misty Harbor Inn. It tells the story of the youngest Marris sister, Sam, an avid baker, and co-owner of the Inn with her sisters. It's a quirky story about an old mystery surrounding a woman connected to the Inn long ago who disappeared. Can they unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding this?

It also seems that despite her claims to the contrary, their mother had been to Nantucket as a child. Why would she lie about that? All of this is coming to light at a very busy time. A wedding is being planned, a home is for sale and preparation is underway for entry into a baking contest.

Evangeline Kelley is the pen name for the writing team of Patti beef, Pam Hanson and Barbara Andrews. Join them as they wrap up the stories of the Morris sisters and their Misty Harbor Inn.

Fall in love with beautiful seaside Nantucket and a cast of quirky individuals as they research their Inn's history and it's connection to their family, solve a mystery or two, all while running their Inn.

I didn't have a chance to read the first two books in The Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn series, which are Seaside Harmony and Sunflower Summer, but believe me, I have them on my Kindle and plan to read them soon. I really loved this book. I would suggest though, if you have the time to read the first two books as things that started in the other two books get resolved in this one. Even though I haven't read the first two, I really wasn't that lost as to what was going on. This is a story that sucks you in and makes you feel that you actually know the characters, it makes you care what happens to them. Once I started reading, I really couldn't put it down. There are so many things going on in this book. I highly recommend this series, even though I have only read this book, but I know I will love the other two books. I loved how each sister had something going on and they all had to realize they needed to sit back and relax and not stress and everything worked out fine.

I didn't get a chance to read the first two books in the Postcard series and it was noticeable. I would suggest that you read them first (The first book - Seaside Harmony and the second - Sunflower Summer) as apparently, there are many loose threads tied up in this one. While I didn't hate the book, I didn't love it either. I thought it was difficult to lose myself in the story and I did find that I skipped and skimmed quite a bit of the scenery details. I did enjoy the fact that all sisters were middle-aged rather than the typical young and perfect most of today's romance/mystery novels are about. It's nice to know there's life after 30.

Also, I liked how the situation between Sam and Betsy was resolved, and I did like that not everything worked out exactly perfect ~ which made it more realistic. While this wasn't my favorite book, I would still recommend it to someone who enjoys clean, gentle romance, scenic writing, and light mystery.

The third book in this wonderful series, hated it to end!! What a delightful visit with old friends. You feel like you are living there with them. Now I should let you know you can read this without reading the first two, but you would be depriving yourself of a lot of joy, and a great reads.
There are a lot of answers to long asked questions that are revealed here. Some long buried secrets, with the right people put in their paths with answers, not a coincidence, God is with them.
We can picture this beautiful Island thru their eyes, and I loved looking at the surf and flowers. There are mysteries to be solved, and the finding of hidden rooms in and out of the Inn.
The Sister's come to terms with their decision to start new lives together at the Inn, and some struggle. Love the people who appear to be problems, and end up different.
Don't miss this wonderful final visit with these sisters....could we have another book?

This is the third book in the series of the sisters who bought an inn on Nantucket. I gave the previous two 5 stars. It was interesting to see the journeys of the sisters evolve in the series as they worked through the adventure and risk of buying and updating the old inn on Nantucket. More interesting characters both living in Nantucket and visitors at the inn were interesting. The mystery that was hinted at in the first book is taken on an interesting journey through the series.
I would recommend the series to anyone who enjoys writing with a Christian perspective. The absence of steaming sex scenes, and foul language was refreshing.
The last book in the series brings things to an interesting conclusion. However, it just wasn't the page turner I thought the first two books in the series were.

The sisters find a lot of treasures in the attic and basement where things had been discarded and forgotten until they came along and started investigating. It’s true what they say, One man’s junk might be someone else’s Treasure! This was a wonderful book that tells the story of each sister’s lives and their mother. They weathered ups and downs just like we do and throughout it all, they kept the faith that things would work out. And really that is about all you can hope for in life. Great family, lots of love, a good job and plenty of friends along the way, The only thing I did not like was not reading the other books in this series …Oh it was an enjoyable read anyway!
I would recommend this book to anyone who just enjoys reading a sweet story!

Granny M was so happy to sweep up Whispers on the Dock when it arrived via Litfuse. We have been following the storyline of the Marris sisters as they have relocated and opened their mothers dream, Misty Harbor Inn. It has been hard to wait and see what was going to happen in the third book of this series. Granny M was not disappointed to find the answers to the mystery from 1880 tied in so well with the present day story line. Now if I can ever get home myself to read the story. All I have is that Granny M is dancing around knowing what happens. Gosh she is fun when she has the upper hand on me!
