Gotta give this book 5 stars!! The patterns are easy to read, the instructions are clear and concise, and they have some of the cutest little animals to make. This is easy enough for beginners, but also interesting enough for the intermediate and advanced. (FYI: The dress and bow weren't part of the pattern. They were added by myself.)

NOTE: this is the same book as the one with the same name but with the frog on the cover. This is the UK version, the frog is the US version. I bought both thinking they were different, but I was able to give one away so it was no biggie.

Let's present this as a beautiful, low-fat and crispy compliment sandwich!

Mooncie really had some great ideas and most of them are executed perfectly. The chameleon, for example, the way it turns inside-out is just the greatest thing and when I finished mine I just couldn't stop playing with it, it's the best. There are some daunting projects in there (think Flamingo), but she made sure to include some very easy projects, like the Polar Bear and the Bunny. The instructions are mostly clear.

I say mostly, because sometimes she just looses me in her description of certain stitches (Flamingo booty anyone?) and I end up just figuring it out from the pictures. Which isn't a problem for me, but it might be a problem for novice crocheters.

It's nice that she included charts, and I used them from time to time when I couldn't really be bothered with the texts, but the way they're presented isn't the most accessible one there is and you'll easily lose track with the bigger ones.

This book really contains some beautiful charts; the simple, yet very original Fox being my absolute number one. The big tail, the dangling legs - it's perfect for fox fans of all ages and I have made a lot of them to give as gifts.

So, while this isn't a perfect book, it's still one of my favorites. Mooncie uses shapes, textures and stitches we don't often see in modern amigurumi and with the proper amount of practice and tweaking, you can really make those techniques yours. All her projects are beautifully photographed and inspirational!

Nice book but I think it is not for beginners. You need to be a little bit more advanced in crocheting for these amigurumis.
