Interesting book about Göring, covering his role in the rise and fall of the Third Reich. The book mainly covers the relationship between Hitler and Göring, and the latter's decline of influence.

What you see is that he played a leading role during the rise of the NS party in German politics and that he helped Hitler's rise. Next his role diminishes during the war until, at the very end, he has been surpassed by others in Hitler's entourage. Yet he tried to remain loyal to the very end.

The parts about the path towards WWII and Göring's role in it are interesting to read, since it seems like he wanted to steer away from starting a war, where Hitler wanted a war.

What did play a role in his character and behavior was his upbringing during his youth and the role he played as a pilot during WWI. A wound suffered during the party's rise to power would also shape the man he would become later on.

Well written and very informative.
