Combines profiles of noted cigar aficionados with a fascinating tour through the tobacco fields and factories of the leading cigar-manufacturing countries, and includes sections on cigar accessories.
Those lucky non-subscribers Roughly, the text:pic comparison is close to 50:50 (that is, if you count the white-space as text). Now some of the chapters:
Celebrities and Their Cigars Who are celebrities, really? Mostly movie stars—Hollywood, for that matter. [It seems that someone has some brilliant idea that 'celebrities/movie-stars' and 'Hollywood/the-whole-globe' are indeed synonyms]
The Silver Screen The movies--more Hollywood, a pic is of the same guy from a preceding chapter. [Now that's consistent!]
Walking My Cigar A four-page story by one Gay Talese opened with how his dogs love his cigars and how he would have given them some had his not happened to be that expensive and so on. [Hmm.. yes, this is important]
Now about why cigarette packs have that clumsy “Smoking is dangerous...” and cigar boxes don't.. Oops!! Sorry, you won't find that kind of junk infos here. [Please focus--we're not talking about cigarettes or smoking here, this book is about dogs]
Price: twenty bucks ($19.98). [Very reasonably priced, so that if a store gives 95% discount, a dime won't do since the price would still be about $1--my historical price]
It is said that this book brings us three years of the magazine's (Cigar Aficionado) coverage. [I can only imagine..]
Beautiful photography, good articles for content and writing. Very informative about the 'world of cigars.' Chapter titles: Celebrities and Their Cigars, Cigar Origins, The Silver Screen, Cigar Accessories, The Art of Cigars, Walking my Cigar. Takes you through the production process of growing, drying, cutting, and rolling. Entertains the debate over cutting, punching, snipping, biting, etc. Options on lighting procedures and necessary accessories. A great coffee table book for the cigar enthusiast, which is why my wife keeps it in the upstairs bookcase.
