For nearly twenty-five years, The Wizard of Id has been a favorite of young and old, one of the most popular and entertaining strips in newspapers. Appearing in more than 1,000 newspapers worldwide, the collective inhabitants of the land of Id bungle along in spite of themselves, and cheer us with consistent, enduring humor.
Although the King, cowardly knight Sir Rodney, the Wizard, Spook, and other inhabitants of Id dwell in a medieval world, their challenges and frustrations are not so different from our own. Creators Brant Parker and Johnny Hart focus on the shortcomings and humorous situations of the midget king, his toadies, and peasants, delighting readers and exposing some of the zaniness of the twentieth century along the way.
Created and written by Hart and drawn by Parker, the Wizard of Id is a five-time recipient of "Best Humor Strip in America," an honor presented but the Nfional Cartoonists Society.

Hart was recognized with several awards, including five from the National Cartoonists Society, and the Swedish Adamson Award. In his later years, he sparked controversy by incorporating overtly Christian themes and messages into the strips.
