Stacey Turner lives in West Central Illinois with her husband. Three wonderful, adult children call her “Mom,” and three beautiful little boys call her “Mimi” (Grandma). She is owned by cats. She spends her days writing and editing, but still finds time to review books & interview authors, as well as blog about her absolutely ridiculous family and other adventures.

She enjoys editing because she’s bossy. And also because she revels in helping an author polish their work. She has edited several anthologies, such as Fairly Wicked Tales and Fifty Shades of Decay, as well as many novels & novellas for a variety of authors. To contact her about editing, you can email her at princess.spot@gmail.com.

She has been published in several anthologies and online magazines. Most recently in Grimm Mistresses by Ragnarok Publications.

When not working, she enjoys photographing cemeteries, playing “what if,” and discussing the imminent zombie apocalypse. She does not enjoy scarecrows, creepy dolls, birds (of any sort), snakes, clowns, or garden gnomes.

So I had no idea what to expect when I picked this up. I mean zombie erotica? Sure I've seen some terrible movies like Erotic Nights of the Living Dead and Porn of the Dead (not recommending either), but 51 short stories that could take the theme in different directions intrigued and frightened me a bit.
With the being said, I finished the collection today and it is great. Not all of the stories work for me, but with the sheer volume, it's not a surprise. The ones that missed were just not my style, but were well written and thought out for sure, so I won't mention them. What I will mention is the stories that REALLY stood out as the best of the best. With 51 to choose from, I will have to only pick five or this could go on too long. My favorites were Meat by Tim Marquitz, Body Bag by Shaun Meeks, Subject Zero-Zero by Alex Chase, Love Stinks by Tim Baker and Out with a Bang by Laura J. Hickman. Not that there aren't other great ones, these ones just lasted the most with me long after I closed my Kindle. I will be recommending this to anyone, but with a warning that if they have a weak constitution, they should steer clear.

Some of the stories here feel as if they were put together in about 5 min., others are pretty awesome. It's about as disgusting and zombi-liscious as you can get. There's enough good stuff to rank this around a 3.5, so I just rounded up.

Where do you start to write a review of 50 erotic zombie short stories? I’m guessing if a reader is considering this title, they are looking for something a bit different - with zombies; or they want something a bit different - with erotica; or they think the idea of zombie sex is so gross they want to be appalled; or they think the idea of zombie sex is so gross they want a good laugh.

Well, there’s something for all those readers in this book.

But no horror, really, unless you are a true dyed in the wool/ the mention of zombies makes you cover your eyes/easily scared witless zombiephobe, there is no true horror in this collection. None of the stories build any sense of dread, or concentrate on the fear, relentless pursuit, and desperation of a true zombie horror.

So what do you get? This work collects writers of various styles and to some degree, quality. It is hard to put erotica into a grab bag, too. What one person finds hot and juicy, another finds gross or underwhelming. The same applies to comedy and humour. So, I’ll present here what I think are the standout offerings, some for their quality of storytelling, some for the laugh, some for the erotica, and some for the gross-out.

Detailed reviews of 4 and 5 star rated stories at Ellie Hall - Reviews

In the many stories that remain there are quite a few well worth the purchase price, there are simply too many in this collection to deal with individually. All ratings are subjective, so readers may like some I’ve left out better than those I’ve chosen to highlight with four and five star ratings.

All up, I am happy with the selection the publishers have chosen here. My only advice to anyone who would consider reading this book is to spread out the reading over a few sessions. The blood and gore can get a bit mind-numbing taken in too-large doses.

Fifty Shades of Decay was born of an idea that took form at Killercon in Vegas. The end result is a collection of 51 shorts of zombie erotica. That's right, Zombie Erotica. With the popularity of Fifty Shades of Grey and our ongoing love affair with zombies, it was only a matter of time before someone did a mashup of the two genres.

With an anthology this ambitious there are bound to be a few stories that don't quite get the job done and there were a few of those, but there were enough stories that succeeded that the end result was a very entertaining read.

Many of the shorts are delightfully disgusting, some managed to gross me out and cause me to become aroused at the same time (for me, they were the ones that really captured the spirit of the anthology), some of the stories were very sweet and others were filled with raw sex and terror.

Here's a great line that captures the spirit of this project, from "Body Bag", by Shaun Meeks. "She was moving, moaning, asking to be pleased. And she was dead."

A couple of things I really enjoyed about Fifty Shades of Decay.

1) 51 different authors. The vast majority were new to me and I discovered several, that I'm excited about seeing what else they have to offer.

2) 51 different concepts of zombie erotica. That in itself was pretty amazing. Hat's off to editor Stacey Turner for presenting such a varied assortment of stories. The theme was consistent, but the stories all came at the subject matter in unique ways.

Needless to say, Fifty Shades of Decay is strictly adult fair and certainly not for everyone, but if you'd like to spice up your zombie experience then this is just what you're looking for. Available now from Angelic Knight Press.

First off, I have a story in this anthology. ‘I Was Legend’ is a satirical play off Richard Matheson’s ‘I Am Legend.’ It is a story where loneliness and desperation turn one man’s hope into his doom.

A handful of my friends also found their way into this collection, and to be fair, I will not comment on any of their works, (which I thought were fantastic, but clearly I have a bias.) It should also be known that if there weren't 50 other authors who'd be mad at me, I’d have rated this anthology with four-stars. Some of my own taboos were stretched a little further than their comfort zone, and I’m no prude. I found all of the stories in this book to be brave, even if there was a serious yuck-factor to some of them.

Every story in this collection fit undeniably well to the title, but in my unimportant opinion, fifty-one is too many. Who would I have excluded? None of them—not a one. On the bright side, fifty-one stories of sex and horror is well worth the expense of buying the book.

However, I decided to spotlight my absolute favorites in this anthology, and ‘Dead Things Don’t Rise” by Mandy DeGeit had me laughing out loud. The story begins with our drunken narrator stumbling home and taking a shortcut through the cemetery. Luck will have it he staggers into what he thinks is another drunk, this one a cold, yet horny girl, ready for some dirty lovin’. This tale held a fascinating mix of both hot and gross.

‘Ménage a Trauma’ by Dan Larnerd is another of the dark-comedic stories. Two lovers meet at a 2-star hotel for some hot sex, but the séance taking place a floor above them turns love-making into a fight for their lives.

‘Playing a Game’ by Eric Stoveken was another very naughty story with a horribly dark twist. Two lovers––one tied up and being straddled by his truest––play a game of intimacy, and secrets. Sex is the weapon of choice.

‘Carnage Kandy’ by Teresa Hawk was my absolute favorite in this collection. Two women, now lovers, have found the zombie apocalypse in Las Vegas to be the most liberating experience of their lives. The writing in this weave floored me and I connected with it on a deep level. Killing zombies at the peak of orgasm sounds like fun.

‘Out with a Bang’ by Laura J. Hickman was about a sex-addicted Goth girl who fed her mom to the zombies so as to stop her nagging. Once the batteries of her ‘boyfriend’ ran dry, she devises a new plan to get off, a final plan. I loved the voice of this story.

‘Some Like it Rot’ by John Palisano. There is a new street drug that will expand your mind, or turn you into a zombie. This tale is about a washed-out star and her supposed miracle return to the silver screen. Her publicist finds the starlet in her hotel room, half-baked and zombiefied. His career is on the line if he doesn’t find a cure.

‘Headshot’ by Frankie Sachs tells the sad story of a woman whose recent survival partner has been bitten. She reminisces about her long dead husband, and the difference of ‘fucking’ versus ‘loving.’ This one touched deeper than many of the other tales in this book.

‘Die With Your Boots On’ by Lisa Woods was the one I thought as being the hottest of the sex stories, filled with fantastic visuals for the both the characters and the sex. This was a man and woman sex story, zombies did not participate in the naughtiness.

‘Love in a Laundromat,’ is a self-explaining story by Megan Dorei. It was one of the few to have a happy ending.

My final pick is between ‘Stiff’ by Matthew Scott Baker, and ‘Subject Zero-Zero’ by Alex Chase for my favorite story of how the apocalypse came to be. ‘Stiff’ tells of a radical new drug that will cure erectile dysfunction forever. ‘Subject Zero-Zero’ tells of a man who found sex as being repulsive until one of his lab-mates becomes infected by a chemical weapon they were producing.

So there you have it, the short review of my favorite 20% of these stories. If you like zombies, you will love this book. If you like sex, you’ll like many of the stories. If you like sex with zombies—well, now—looks like you found your book.

This was quite an interesting collection of zombie/erotica. I have read some previous horror erotica and in those books I found that it's always more about the horror and less about the erotic. Just because there is sex in a story, that doesn't make it erotica.
That being said, this book succeeds very well. With 51 stories, I was surprised at how many of them hit the mark for me and were enjoyable. Reading tastes vary so much that I have become accustom to having a fair share of the stories in anthologies just not "my style", especially themed books. There are a few stories that just didn't work for me personally, but compared to the sheer number of those that did, it makes this book a re-read for sure.
This collection is not for the weak stomached, the uptight; not written for people that would prefer to watch Pride and Prejudice than The Walking Dead. There is violence and sex a plenty here, both very graphic at times and a few of the stories had me gagging a little, a task very hard to do these days.
I am curious how others will take my story in here, Body Bag. I hope people get the blend of horror/erotica and dark humor I added without thinking to lowly of me. I won't review my story, because personally, I am my own worst critic and would no doubt tear it apart.
Instead, I figure would note some of the highlights for me. There are so many good stories though, so it was hard to just name a few, but here they are: Dead Things Don't Rise by Mandy DeGeit, Love Stinks by Tim Baker, 2 is for Taboo by Craig Faustus Buck, Meat by Tim Marquitz and my favorite of the set has to be Subject Zero-Zero by Alex Chase. But there are so many great stories in here and I wish I could name them all.
If I have any issue it's that I read this from front to back and that is a lot of zombie/erotica to process. When I do re-read this, I will do it in parts for sure.
I highly recommend this to anyone that like horror erotica, zombie stories, bizarro fiction or people that just want to see how much they can take.

With any anthology there are hits and misses, but overall this one had more hits- and a fantastic parody title.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to review a book that I'm in, so barring the stories myself and my partner have written; I liked the book.
I wasn't sure at first, about zombie erotica, but darn it some of those stories were really good!
I found some of them to actually be pretty hot.
Some were more scary than erotic.... And overall, there's an underlying "funny" to the whole thing.

(really, you have to take the subject with a bit of a suspension of disbelief, come on, lol)

In the end, I'm proud to be a part of this project, and I'm glad own it :)

Seeing as I have a short story in this collection, I can't honestly review this book but I will say that I'm not normally a horror writer, though I have written my share of science fiction TV (V: The Final Battle). But when I saw the call for zombie erotica stories, it sounded too fun to pass up and the joy in the writing lived up to the promise.

Again, I don't want to get qualitative here, but I do love the range of styles and approaches people took to this topic. As a writer, it's always interesting to see how other writers approach the same challenges that you face. I just hope readers enjoy this anthology as much as we writers did (at least all those I've had contact with).
