C.D. Taylor

C.D. Taylor began writing as an item to check off her bucket list. She resides in the southernmost part of Illinois, right on the mighty Mississippi river. She enjoys the quiet country life with her husband, son and the many farm animals that make up the rest of the family. C.D. decided that farm life was just a little too mundane, so she started writing erotica to spice things up, so far so good. C.D. entered cosmetology school right out of High School and practiced the art of hair styling for 12 years. When she isn’t writing, she can usually be found sitting around a table making people laugh. She has always wanted to be a standup comic. She loves pulling practical jokes, dresses up in a costume every Halloween and believes that dancing is the key to a happy life (even if you aren’t a good dancer). She believes that life shouldn’t be taken too seriously, we will never get out alive anyway. More than anything, C.D. is a kid at heart, she doesn’t believe in bedtimes, eating everything on her plate, or having ice cream only for dessert. Her favorite quote is by Dr. Seuss…”Why fit in, when you were born to stand out.”

I have it on good authority that this book was rewritten and edited making it sooooo much better than it was before. If you've read it already I urge you to give it a second chance, you will be surprised at the changes this book went through. :-)

Chasing her dreams, Emily Mills strikes a friends with benefits bargain with her best friend from college because with all of her emotional scars she’s doesn’t fell as if she’s worthy of his love in this emotionally gripping romance.

Emily grew up in a privileged lifestyle but she was for from happy so she decides to strike out for New York and her dreams of becoming a lawyer and runs into her secret first love and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the emotionally wrenching tale of a young woman whose emotional scars almost destroy the very thing she’s fighting for. The characters are strong, compelling and grab the reader’s attention although I must warn you that Emily’s past has left her with some hang ups that will have you in tears and the steady paced plot captivates readers with lots of suspense, turmoil and romance.

Expectation builds as Emily struggles to overcome her past and reach her goals and Jake tries to give her the support she needs while not rushing her into the relationship that he wants. The road is a certainly a rocky one not only due to Emily’s personal demons but the road to achieve her career goals has a few roadblocks as well adding additional tension and suspense. The scenes are well written and bring the story to life while the intriguing events draw the reader in.

This emotionally gripping romance captures the hearts, brings tears to the eyes and I was cheering for that second chance love with breathless anticipation until the very end.

This story was way too rushed.
Not a bad read, but not great either.
Characters lacked substance and the authors use of the phrases "his member" and "her sex"
was lame. My least favorite read of the year to date :(

I liked the story line and the characters, but like many of the others, I thought it was rushed. I can read through the grammatical errors, thats not a big deal to me. Out of all 3 books this one was the best. Pretty good for a freebie.

NOTE: the spoilers in this review are like the mild sauce at a Taco Bell.

If you don't like honesty and tearing books apart from the inside, I wouldn't advise you to continue reading this review. While somehow getting through this book, I ended up with 3 front and back pages of notes to point out and/or discuss and they reek of negativity towards this novel. Shall we begin?

For those of you who I had previously advised to not continue reading and are being rebels, I'll even throw in the only good thing I had to say for this novel just for you:

It was a quick read.

Boom. There you go. Now really, listen to me and retreat from this review. I'm warning you for your own good. I appreciate that you were interested in my thoughts and you are by all means welcome to look at any of my happier reviews. Thank you for your time.

Now, for the rest of you, buckle up and grab a snack because this is going to be a long, rocky ride.

First, I would like to say that some of the fault is indeed mine. I keep reading free ebooks, knowing that they are usually never dependable. They always let me down. So why do I keep trying? Well, I guess because there is a part of me that is looking for a diamond in the dust. And obviously by reading to this point of my review or by simply seeing my star rating, this, along with other novels I have read, are not it. Also, they are free, so there's that.

But lets get back to the book.

This novel was just flat out ridiculous. It's the predictable A "down to earth" girl with a tragic past and the guy that will give up hot chicks for only her story line but even worse because it's poorly written and only fueled by sex. Literally. All I could see in this book was sex scenes that were so thought out with random crap thrown around them to make it seem like there was depth when in reality, the only "depth" in this novel is "his member" in "her sex". And that's how they actually refer to it for most of the book. Enthralling, isn't it? *sigh*

But wait! That's not all! I haven't even started to tell you about the wonderful characters you get to meet.

Of course we will start with Emily. The "protagonist" that assures us she isn't a "sex starved psycho" even though every guy "makes her panties wet" and spends most of the book complaining about how terrible her parents are for trying to give her nice things. Which I got and understood. For the first bit of it. But she keeps going. Hey Emily, if that apartment offends you so much because it's so luxurious, don't stay there. Go find a Motel 8 or something. Damn. But anyways, she yaps and yaps about just how dreadful her parents have been and then wants to throw in that they practically didn't care that her boyfriend/fiancé was beating the living shit out of her. I'm sorry but is that less appalling compared to them pushing nice things in your face? I guess so. But that's okay because she'll get you to love her with her humor and cussing that is neither natural or easy flowing. And she'll really get you with her attempts at coming off as "relatable" which are, of course, her trying too hard. You know what's better than that, though? Her intelligence. For example, her idea of taking the guy who physically assaulted her to her apartment "to talk" alone. Or after being repeatedly beaten by one guy and attacked by another, decides that looking through the peep hole before opening to door is pointless. Almost as useful as telling a guy you'll scream and then not while he still touches you. OH! She's also the cofounder of an organization for women. I don't remember what it's called but that's okay, it was only mentioned and thrown in there so there could be a benefit for Jake and Emily to reunite at. How convenient.

Then there is Jake. Jake, Jake, Jake. I am so glad that the woman Jake saw at the benefit that made Jake "completely forget about Emily" was Emily. That was such a relief. He also takes it upon himself to get Emily fired so she can go with him to meet his family in Texas. How thoughtful. He also worries about how is plan backfired on him rather than the fact that his "true love's" life is in danger. But that is also okay because that just makes him and Emily more perfect for eachother. The Emily that said that "after the incident with Grant [she] really wasn't sure [she] wanted any sexual contact ever again" about a page or two before having "the best sex ever" with Jake. They really are a match made in heaven.

I could probably still go on about how infuriating and absolutely, unreasonably preposterous they and this story was but I think I've made my point.

By the way Emily, for someone who runs an organization to help women that have been through abuse and assault, you sure as hell don't know how to even deal with it yourself.

Come back to me by C.D. Taylor.

In C.D. Taylor's stand alone book and the beginning of the Come Back to Me series, two friends who haven't seen each other since college realize that somewhere along the way they had feelings for each other but missed their chance. In the heart wrenching story of abuse and wanting to find the happily ever after, can they find each other in the world again.

Jake Bradford, a Texas raised cowboy with his own law firm lives in NewYork City. He is a. Bachelor who never sees a woman more than once and doesn't allow them to spend the night. He is finally ready to settle down with the right woman, and the only person he thinks about is his best friend Emily Mills from college. They told each other everything about who they were dating or sleeping with. He didn't seem to believe that someone like her would ever accept a Texan cowboy.

Emily Mills' parents has money and lots of it. She is the daughter of a media mogul from Los Angeles. Although it maybe the world, the celebrity, red carpet world she was raised in, she couldn't wait to escape it. She met Jake in law school, they were the best of friends. After college, she returned home with the promise to keep in touch.

Emily's life becomes complicated when her fiancé beats the crap out of her and she decides she needs a fresh start. She gets a job at a law firm in New York. The one thing that keeps popping into her mind though is Jake Bradford. By A chance interview on the T.V. about the break up of Emily and her fiancé, Jake takes the opportunity to look her up again. He finds out that she is hosting the gala for battered and abused women. Just when Emily thinks her life is going to be drama free she becomes entangled with a dangerous and abusive sociopath. At the gala,Jack sees what happens and saves her. Will their under lying feeling for each other surface or will Emily be faced with another challenge? Can Jake save her again or will he be to late?

Don't miss this beautiful story of want and love between these two characters.

I received a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

First things first, woo is this book hot. Believe me when I say it will set you on fire.

Emily's emotions were so real, all the regrets and wistfulness, the what ifs. Throughout the book I could really get into her head and feel her emotions. They just felt so real and I was enjoying it so so much.

Then there was the romance between the two. It was just sweet and sigh worthy. I feel as if Emily was almost me when she was single and it definitely made me feel happy when she took a chance on Jake.

The plot moved along nicely and it was just a marvelous story that really inspired me to make sure I try and do everything I want to, and not regret what I didn't. Emily's story really resonated with me, and I just felt like it could be used as an inspiration even if it's a fictional story.

The writing was great. It flowed, drew you in and before you knew it five hours had passed(not really but two hours did). It was a book I dived into and I really suggest that you take a chance and read it.

Our Second Chance was a great read and I strongly suggest that you give it a read. It will certainly draw you in and make the romantic in you sigh a bit inside.

ugh, i hate to be mean and say negative things, because I know it's not easy to wrote something and put yourself out there. But really this book was not so great. It really had potential, but just didn't do it for me. I finished it, so it wasn't terrible, but I think if I had read this book first I wouldn't have read the other books in the series.
I liked the characters! But it just took so long to get into it. I mean I was on page 115 and they still hadn't "met" yet. The book is only 353 pages on my nook.
Also, It says they were friends in college and hung out together yet there is a 4 year age gap between them. they couldn't have hung out for very long if that was the case right? I don't know. It just didn't do it for me.
It was like way too long of a lead in and then bing! bang! boom! married and done.

A well written story about the one that got away. Who of us haven't had that one person in our lives that if we had the opportunity we'd love to give it a second go? The story has likeable characters, even if Emily is a tiny bit whiny at the beginning. The humor and relationship between her and Jake will keep you coming back for more until you've gobbled the whole book up.

Tasteful and provocative at the same time, author C.D. Taylor has just the right mix of story and romance. If you are looking for just pure smut, then continue on, as this story actually has.. a story! Some parts seem a little rushed, but from what I've heard this book has had a total overhaul, and from what I've read it was for the better. Keep it up C.D. I will definitely be back for more!

At first I almost put this book down, I thought oH NO not another sex book. Then we find out it is a dream and the story starts.

I liked this book, I agree at times the story was a little rushed, but I enjoyed it. This book is about to best friends who lost touch but really had feelings for the other. Neither knew and when they found could it be to late? Two people from different tracks in life can they find the track for love to start and maybe last?

I found a little of everything in this book, when one has been abused it is hard to learn to trust. I enjoyed it so much I bought 3 more of her books.

I read this amazing book July 2014, and loved it. I could not put it down and when it was done it left me wanting more. I was pulled into the story and held my breath waiting for the next shoe to drop on each of the characters. I was thankful for the writer to not try to babble about the little stuff around the characters and getting to the real story. I don't need a writer to explain how "each blade of grass was waving in the wind back and forth". I have my own visual of each book I read. I just want to be sent to my imagination and this one did a great job of it. I can't wait for more books and maybe movies from this author.

Not too much to say about this book (and series). I totally enjoyed it. The first couple of paragraphs had me hooked with the steamy hot, melt your panties sexiness of it. I was not expecting much of a story line, but there was some included, brief as it may have been. And I was very much in the mood for short and sweet. It has a happy ending, therefore covered all my reading for pleasure checklist. I would recommend this book (and the whole series) to anyone who is in need of escape to a steamy hot fantasy.

Couldn't put it down! Emily and Jake are meant to be together. They just keep running into one another. And everytime life and their own stubbornness gets in the way. But for their short times together,WOW! Talk about hot romances! They've got it! The only problem with the book is it ended before I was ready to quit reading. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Our Second Chance

A wonderful story about finding the one that got away. Throughout the book you want to smack both characters at times just to get them to wake up and figure out how much they love each other. Love the self assessments that Emily goes through. The sex scenes are tasteful and steamy. The book is written very well.

I am not into erotica too much, but this was a really good book! It was not as intense as some other erotica books I have read which made you able to connect with the characters on a deeper level. I could not put my book down! Seriously, I read it straight through! Cannot wait to see what happens in the next book!!

I really enjoyed this book. I was able to find myself fulfilling the role of Emily. I felt her emotions and cried when she cried and was happy when she was happy. The book was easy to read and had a nice flow to it. I was able to read the book within a few sittings when my kiddos allowed it. I will have to say the book was fabulous and I cannot wait for the sequel!

** Author provided copy of book in exchange for an honest review. **

I really enjoyed this story. In full disclosure, I read Book 3 of this series first so I knew of these characters and their outcome prior to this book. What I liked about this story was their story. It was sweet without being saccharine and the epitome of how true friendship should be defined.

The story could have been much better. It took too long to get to the main story line, grammatical errors, and repetitive thoughts throughout the story. By the time the ending came it was too rushed. This story had so much promise...The saving grace was the intense sex scenes.
