Boris and his friends want to camp out in the backyard. After telling some spooky stories their imaginations get the better of them and they decide it might be better to take a bit of a nap inside with Boris' parents. Unfortunately, this means having to cross the dark and scary yard with only their flashlights to guide them. Their neighbor doesn't help by making strange noises and lights in his yard. Boris and his friends are as adorable and entertaining for young readers as always. This particular story hit home for me because I remember many times wanting to camp out in my own backyard as a child, but I never made it all the way through the night. My favorite thing about Joyner's Boris series is the full color illustrations throughout that are just as entertaining as the tale he tells.

I read "The Pink Hat" by Andrew Joyner (this book wasn't listed on Goodreads). It's a story of a girl who wears a pink hat everywhere until one day lots of people were wearing pink hats. They were protesting for women's rights. It is based on the 2017 Women's March which was one o the largest political demonstrations in history. The message was that women's rights are human rights. The March attracted 5 million people across all continents.

I didn’t like it very much because the book didn’t really have just one topic.

This is the fourth book in a series featuring a warthog named Boris by Andrew Joyner. We liked the first three books in this series, so we thought we'd check this one out, too, from our local library.

This is a fun tale and I love Boris's imagination. I liked that this story tackles the topic of being afraid of the dark. Even adults can sympathize with a child who is afraid of night noises and the dark. And the ending is probably all-too common. I know that our girls and their cousins ended up back in the house during a camp out in the yard.

Overall, we enjoyed reading this book. We all read the book independently and since it's a combination between a chapter book and graphic novel, it's a fun, fast read.

Boris books are perfect for students reading at a second grade level. When I was an elementary school librarian it was challenging to find books written at this level that make reading fun, Boris does this. If elementary schools and primary classrooms purchase the entire Boris series they will be rewarded with excited readers.

In this adventure Boris and his friend's Alice and Fredrick are planning a big overnight campout in Boris’s backyard. It’s obvious from the start that Fredrick is nervous about sleeping outside, also where will he plug in his hair dryer? Will Boris be able to convince Fredrick to ruff it in the dark open air?? Or will Fredrick’s fears prove to be correct and they are all in danger??

This was a really fun book to read with Dex (5yo). While he couldn't read all the words yet, he didn't mind sounding out words when I pointed out one to him. It was a fun story about camping out in the back yard with your friends and hearing spooky sounds.

The graphics are great and colorful.

Boris, his friends, a campout in the backyard, a strange light...

It was OK. Very quick. Good for a one time read before bed (and it is a chapter book you will finish very quickly).

I didn't like this one quite as much as the other Boris books, but I continued to enjoy the mix of traditional and graphic text. The subject of bring scared of the dark is relatable most kids.

I did not like this book because I do not like to be surprised. I also did not like this book because in this book Boris was surprised.
