Angela Delvecchio, LCRs über researcher and assistant, has long wanted to be an operative and over the years, underwent all the training to become one. Now that her circumstances have changed, she's making the move. Operative Jake Mallory isn't too pleased about her first assignment. They've enjoyed a flirty relationship until now when they'll be partnered to catch a dangerous serial killer. She wants more, him...not so much.

We've not known much about Angela until this story so learning her history was interesting. The heroines in this series often face some tough treatment and she's no different. Her undercover assignment is provocative and challenges her relationship with Jake. It was interesting getting an insider's view of exotic dancing, too. I enjoyed the op and all the drama associated with Angela's participation.

The romance was the weak spot as I really don't like the "I'm afraid of committing again" trope. Fortunately it wasn't protracted and I really liked Jake and Angela.

I hate seeing this wonderful series end but am looking forward to what's next with the spinoff. I enjoyed this story and the ending just kindled the fire.

This book was like going home after a long time away. This series is just as strong now as it was with the first book.

In this 10th book in the series Angela Delvecchio who has been with LCR since the beginning finally gets her story. Angela has been LCR’s main researcher but has always had aspiration of being an operative. But when her parents fell on bad times and she was the sole provider for many years she couldn’t risk something happening to her. Then when tragedy strikes her whole family she lives in grief for a few years until she decides she wants to finally go on her first op.

Jake Mallory came to be with LCR after accidentally foiling a previous mission they were on. He was floundering around himself after tragedy had struck his life due to circumstances when he was a police officer.

Angela has been open and honest with Jake about her feelings for him but Jake refuses to ever let himself be vulnerable again to heartache. When the two are paired to go undercover together to try and bait a serial killer Angela is over the moon, Jake no so much as he is having a hard time trying to stick to his friend only rule.

This book had it all, suspense with a twisted serial killer, a sexy romance between two grief stricken people, and best of all, tons of face time with Noah and lots of characters from the previous book.

The ending was OMG – and you will just have to read it to find out what that means.

Christy Reece's latest release in her outstanding Last Chance Rescue Series has finally arrived. Once again, this author continues to bring the good stuff to the table. Her masterful ability in developing interesting and captivating characters is just one of the many addictive qualities found in her books. She always brings those characters to life on the pages and the relationships between them are unforgettable. Ten books into the series and I'm still hungry for more.

A modern day Jack the Ripper is loose in London. Noah McCall's LCR team receives the call for assistance in apprehending the monster and putting an end to his reign of terror. Angela Delvecchio was introduced early on in the series as the sassy, tattooed and pierced beauty that handles the front office and serves as LCR's researcher. After being held back for years by family obligations, Angela is now ready to step into the position of a field operative. She is partnered up on the case with Jake Mallory, another LCR operative who stars in Angela's nightly dreams. They go undercover - Angela as a pole dancer and Jake as the bar manager. As is typical with Reece's villains, the Red Rose Killer is freaky and psychotic keeping readers chilled to the bone. Things heat up in the romance department and otherwise. The case is fast-paced and filled to the brim with drama, suspense, danger, and yes the kind of romance to make LCR's new operative a very happy and satisfied woman.

For anyone who enjoys romantic suspense, you can find none better than the Last Chance Rescue Series by Christy Reece.

After giving this a lot of thought, I've decided to go with 3.25 stars.

I love Christy Reece novels. I especially love her Last Chance Rescue series. Though they can easily be read as standalones, I would highly recommend reading the entire series if you enjoy steamy Romantic Suspense.

I have always enjoyed these books, and they have only gotten better for me as the series went on. That was, at least, until this book.

While I cannot say that I disliked it, I can't say that I really loved it either. It fell into that odd "somewhere in the middle" limbo from the 30% mark, and sadly just stayed there until pretty much the very end.

Angela Delvecchio has been LCR's researcher and receptionist since she first began working there at the young age of 17. While she harbored dreams of eventually becoming a field operative, for the sake of her family's concern for her safety, she put those dreams on the side.

Having lost her entire family in a tragic accident, there is now nothing stopping her from pursuing that dream. When a sadistic serial killer begins to terrorize the street of London, Angela jumps at the chance for her first assignment.

Jake Mallory was a Chicago cop that lost his wife in a horrific way. Hoping to drown his sorrows, he inadvertently walks in and almost ruins an op. When the head of LCR sees his potential, Jake finds his second chance working as an operative for the elusive rescue group.

Sparks fly between Angela and Jake, but having lost his wife, Jake refuses to let anyone close to him ever again.

The story held promise. It was filled with action and suspense. I really liked Angela. She was such an amazing heroine. She was strong, kick-ass, knew what she wanted and went for it.

Jake's character was where the story fell flat for me. He never really came alive from the pages for me. He was stubborn and thick-headed and drove me out of my ever-loving mind.

When Angela goes undercover as a stripper, Jake, her partner is now unable to fight the attraction that has been flaming between them from the beginning.

Angela was such a realistic heroine. I loved reading the progression of her character. This being her first op, she was equal parts driven and terrified.

Jake spends the entirety of the book fighting his attraction to her. Unfortunately, he does this in such a pig-headed and stupid way, that it really brought my enjoyment down.

I understood Jake's hesitance to get involved after his wife's death. But in certain scenarios I just found him to be way over the top.

Had that been the only instance, I could have overlooked it. But he continues this way of thinking and behavior until the 95% mark.
After their mission ends, Jake pretty much gives Angela an ultimatum. This is where he totally killed any semblance of like I might have had for him. His thinking and request was so unreasonable, given the situation. Then, after not having it go his way, he does something that I absolutely hated.

He does finally see the light somewhere around the 97% mark. Unfortunately for me, that was a case of too little too late. I also would have liked to see him grovel a little bit more for his stupid behavior.

He did do something in his attempt to show Angela his feelings instead of just saying, that I found really sweet. But it just wasn't enough for me.

Perhaps it was the shorter length of the novel that had me finding Jake a little two dimensional. Or it might have been the case of my own personal preferences. For whatever reason, the story just fell a little bit flat for me.

I love the author's writing style and I look forward to her future books. I just think that this particular books will be my least favorite in the series. Can't love them all unfortunately. But don't just take my word for it. The series is fantastic, and the story might be great for other readers.

This book is a wonderful addition to the LCR series. We all know and love Last Chance Rescues feisty receptionist Angela. She has finally got her own book. This is a great story with chilling scenes from the villain and smoldering scenes with Angela and Jake. I was so happy to learn Christy was going to continue her LCR series. Her characters are a part of my everyday fictional world. In Chances Are you get to touch base with many of the previous characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read the LCR series, as well as anyone who might be new to the wonderful world of Last Chance Rescue.

Christy Reece has done it again with CHANCES ARE, the 10th installment of her Last Chance Rescue series. LCR has been asked to assist in the capture of the Red Rose Killer, a ruthless serial killer who has been horrifying Londoners for the past year. Angela Delvecchio and Jake Mallory are going undercover to bring this monster down….or die trying!!!

For years, Angela has worked as the assistant and head researcher for Noah McCall, head of a private international corporation called Last Chance Rescue. She has recently crawled out of her world of grief after the sudden death of her family. Now she has the chance she has waited years for….to become a LCR Field Operative……and to show Jake they should be partners in life as well as for LCR!

Jake has had a wounded soul since the death of his wife. After her death he promised himself that he would never let another woman get that close to him or mean that much to him ever again…….until he met Angela. Jake isn’t sure which task will be harder, taking down the Red Rose Killer or keeping things only business with his beautiful partner. One thing he DOES know……he will protect Angela with his last breath!

From Paris to London and back again Christy Reece takes us on a fast-paced journey that leaves readers on the edge of their seats and unable to put the book down. As she chronicles Jake and Angela’s undercover work, the reader is able to immerse themselves in Jake and Angela’s emotional struggles and triumphs. Ms. Reece has a talent for making readers fall in little bit in love with her hero’s and want to be the strong, sexy women that they love.

As with the first nine books in this series, CHANCES ARE hits every note that this reader wants in a Romantic Suspense book…..a hot, steamy Alpha male who knows what it takes to get the job done; a feisty, sexy woman who is not afraid to go toe to toe with her man or show him her vulnerability ; a diabolical villain who, in their insanity, crosses lines that should never be crossed and a storyline that makes you hold your breath, laugh out loud and raises your temperature just enough!!!!

I absolutely loved Chances Are! I’m so glad I saved it for a Sunday afternoon when I could just sit and enjoy it with no distractions. I loved catching up with some of my favorite LCR characters. This novella has made me want to do a re-read of the entire series.

Angela is just as awesome as I thought she would be. I’m so happy Christy gave Angela her own story, I learned so much about LCR’s feisty receptionist. Angela’s spirit and loving heart are perfect for Jake. Jake is determined to stay away from Angela despite his attraction to her, but as they work together to take down a killer in London, she works her way under his skin. Jake and Angela’s journey ran me through a gamut of emotions...one minute I thought they were making progress, then the next they had me crying. I love when a book makes me cry, a sure sign I’ve connected with the characters.

Christy can write some of the creepiest villains ever and she doesn’t disappoint in Chances Are. I was so glad to see this creep taken down and get what he deserved.

The ending has me on pins and needles wanting to know what happens next for LCR and with a few questions. I can’t wait to see what Christy has in store for us!

I love this series!! The books are so gritty with creepy villians and well developed characters. Each can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading all the books in order. Chances Are is another fabulous installment. I love Angela and Jake. They are both damaged and vulnerable and you can practically feel their emotions dripping off the page. Christy Reece is such an amazing story teller that you won't want to put the book down. I am eagerly waiting for more in this series!!!

I loved, loved, loved Jake and Angela's story!

How much did I love it? Well, let's just say that as I was reading and heard the pilot tell the flight attendants to prepare for landing I knew I had more reading time left. Then it became the you all need to shut off your electronic devices for landing PA. Then the flight attendent calling me out to turn it off. And finally on her last pass down the aisles I received the, "Excuse me, but if you don't shut down your Kindle now, you are subject to a fine and arrest upon landing!" Oh, excuse me, but I was in the middle of Chance Are, and MY priorities were in the right place, reading! Needless to say, I did comply and turned off my Kindle, but it was NOT easy. Yes, this book was THAT good.

I am so glad Angela found her strength to not only be an operative, but to force Jake to come to loving her on her terms. And to helping him accept what he could and couldn't control.

Jake, Jake, Jake, your right, life is too short and I am so happy you realized that and went after Angela and loved her for exactly who she had become, not what you thought she should be all along.

And Christy can write one mean, scary villan.

It was great to see the LCR gang again.

If you have not read this series, well I am sorry, but the good news is you can go out today and download all ten of these stories and enjoy the world of LCR one after another. Do it, every book in this series is 5 stars and you'll be so happy you've added Christy Reece and LCR to your must read list.

Now, Christy, about that ending..............

Enjoyable ending to the Last Chance Rescue series featuring Angela and Jake undercover to catch a serial killer. This installment was sexier than most, but the hot and cold attitude of the hero Jake became tiresome. Also, the epilogue felt incomplete to me, which is strange for a last book in a series.

It just went Live on Amazon! YAY

Anxiety, Intrigue, Unease, Passion, and then Elation

Everything is not as it seems...
Everything from the past is put into question...
A gamut of emotions ran through me as I read this book.

First I was Anxious.

I have waited through 9 books to find out about that little known secondary character Angela Delvecchio since Reece introduced her as the gum popping, tattooed, and pierced pseudo receptionist for Last Chance Rescue. (Reece has a habit of doing this--creating secondary characters and writing them in such a way that kindles a spark, causing you to want more. And I did want more. I WANTED THIS BOOK BAD!

Then I was Intrigued.
The dark, sexy cover that parallels the story and heroine. You can actually picture Angela. She’s everything I expected of her and more.

There was also a sense of Unease.
Throughout the story you read the thoughts of the killer as if he was actually talking to you. And you were helpless to do anything about what he was planning. It's a certifiable MIND BLOW.

And oh the Passion.
And sexy excitement that pulsates throughout the book. I could feel the push and pull of the couple as their relationship builds itself to a climax.

Then there is Jake.
Sexy, gorgeous, and tortured by his past. Promising himself to NEVER love again. "No. He could not do this. He'd been there, done that, and couldn't survive the pain again."

And finally Elation.
As the story comes to a deliciously, satisfying conclusion with a definite HEA. Because if you can count on Reece for one thing—there is always an HEA with "No harming of children or puppies in the writing of her books." Can't say the same for the bad guys.

Can’t wait for more books from Christy Reece!

I discovered LCR when the first 9 book were already published, read one after the other and dreaded the end since I was so immerse in the LCR world. Then I heard that a 10th book was on the way and I was ecstatic.

Once again Ms Reece took me for an amazing ride. Her characters are so well written that you can’t help but fall in love with them. Their back stories are always heart wrecking that you feel all the pain, their chemistry is palpable through the book and of course her alpha males are to die for.

Installment 10 was no different, so if you read any LCR book before and enjoyed it, you’ll like this one as well. Jake and Angela (The receptionist) are center stage this time around baiting a sadistic serial killer. I’m not giving spoiler away, but the cover is so central to the story that once I reached the scene I got back to the cover to analyze it again.

Loved her spirit, determination and cocky personality. Loved her vulnerabilities even more and that was exactly what was needed for Jake to finally accept his feeling toward her.

I don’t know whose story will be next. I’ll be patiently waiting for Ms. Reece next masterpiece. In the mean time, her pen name (Ella Grace) is giving us a new story in a few days. I can honestly say I will buy it with my eyes closed. I don’t see how one can go wrong with this author.

I loved every single book in the LCR series and couldn't wait for Chances Are to hit the shelves. I was somewhat disappointed with this story after reading it, as for me, I didn't get the feel, the connection like I did with Christy's other LCR books which seemed to be more intense, more suspenseful, more dramatic, where the leading characters were absolutely without a doubt compatible for each other. Something was just missing. Yes the story flowed fluintly well and I really did enjoy this book but I just felt that more could have been done to really depict the evilness of the bad character, more sinister, because of who he personified and drawn the main leading characters into a more cat and mouse kind of scenereo, a more harrowing suspensful adventure before meeting their HEA leaving the reader satisfied and with a heavy sigh of contenment for a story well done.

I was SO ready for another LCR book! The great thing about this addition is I can recommend it to my friends who haven't read the rest of the series yet. This story has characters we've come to expect from Christy Reece - strong heroines and heroes, who still show some vulnerability, and creepy, evil bad guys.
This is a nice introduction to the series' characters at a fabulous price. AND you get Angela. And Jake. If you have been a longtime fan of LCR, like me, you will really enjoy finally getting to know Angela. And Jake. If you are new to the series, I think you will finish CHANCES ARE, then dash out to get the other books, because you will LOVE Angela. And Jake. :-)

Angela is a doormat. And I hate a doormat character. We often encounter womans who constantly abused by her husband but still go back to them everyday. And we ask why? That's very toxic and unhealthy relationship. We recognize that in many ways. I feel like this was no different. Angela is always here for for Jake no matter how many times he hurt her or use her and thn leave her. She's there like a ready plate which he keep testing whenever he want without fully purchasing. Damn I'm using weird metaphors I know. But this what I felt reading about them. He knows she won't say no to him and he took advantage of that. He led her on so many times and rejected whenever something happened. It was awful to read it. He kissed her thn pushed her away instant, he had sex with her thn push her away instant. She made a huge statement after that kiss rejection while she was still hot and bothered that "this is last she's offering to him" blah blah. Next thing we know she's still the one pursuing 🤦‍♀️ Have some dignity girl. One time she didn't adjust herself for him and he went outta the window fast and furious saying he doesn't like to be in second. Are you for real? Wow! And what we see after one month? She was again ready to do whatever he asked her to. She was ready to erase that one time she stood up. But oh since he is our hero🤷‍♀️ He did adjust lil bit for her.
