A leading rabbi and the author of Endless Light provides readers with pragmatic wisdom and guidance on how to glean important, life-changing truths from the Kabbalah and explains how to develop an intimate relationship with God in their lives. 10,000 first printing.
Concerned that my Shabbos reading has not been particularly spiritual lately, I picked up this book, knowing that it would be spiritual yet light. I was right; I read it in a single Shabbos. Basically, it's an outline of the Sefiros and how you can recognize them in everyday life. Having had Rabbi Aaron as a teacher, many of the ideas were familiar to me, but the book was a wonderful way to think about God without feeling preached at.
As part of my Wind Down process - getting ready for bedtime - I started reading spiritual books…not because they will put me to sleep! There is a certain comfort and fascination with theology, theodicy, the struggle to embrace paradoxes, and general philosophical meanderings which derail my daytime rational consciousness.
It’s as if my rational brain checks out, and my Intuitive, non linear, non binary, anti dualistic brain zooms in for a smooth landing to sleepy time. I’ve discovered that this works really well. Plus I’m a long time fan girl of comparative religion and mysticism, so for me these books are like low carb Turkish Delight!
So here’s another book about the Oneness, the ineffable Ha Shem, the fascinating Kabballistic Sefirot, offered to us by the mysterious G-D Author of our world that gives us FREE WILL and DETERMINISM.
What a Creator we have - He/She/They totally rock the Kabbalah. Too bad we were not allowed to study the Kabbalah until after age 40. (That’s in the Jewish tradition). I think it could prevent a lot of mental illness for adolescents. From a clinical perspective, the Kabbalah addresses a lot of the sad, twisted binary beliefs of our culture in a systematic and scientific manner. Binary = Bad in Kabbalah! It’s not either/or, it’s and/plus-plus. So wise, so true. Why hide this from us until we are 40?
May the delicious dialectical delicacies of Rabbi Aaron’s beautiful Kabbalistic teachings help you GROK the world and have sweet dreams.
