100 Places in the USA Every Woman Should Go

Rate this book
100 Places in the USA Every Woman Should Go is a lively and highly subjective collection of places that will educate, illuminate, entertain, challenge, or otherwise appeal to women of all kinds. From historic (such as the Women's Rights National Historic Park) to kitschy (SPAM museum), these places and activities provide a wide-angle view of all that makes America, America.

Got some good ideas for road trips from this book though not sure how uniquely 'for women' it is.

2016 Reading Challenge Category: A book that's guaranteed to bring you joy.

Thanks to this book, my USA travel list has grown by about eighteen new places to visit. Of course, there are the traditional must-sees like Mount Rushmore and Graceland, but my favorite destinations in this book are the ones that were new to me, like Weeki Wachee Springs State Park in Florida (Real life mermaids? Sign me up!) and the mansions of Newport, RI (A Petit Trianon replica by the sea? Yes, please!) I also loved that the book includes women-centric sites in well-known cities, like the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. Travel lights me up, so I know if I'm lucky enough to visit any of the new places I discovered in these pages, this book will have brought me joy in a very real way. :)

A very interesting reason for exploring and doing 100+ things in the USA that are primarly focused on women.

Okay, I was really loving the book until the "recommendation" to "visit" a plantation.

If you enjoy traveling, this is a great book to read prior. The "100 places" aren't all the big, known visitor spots, some I had visited and some I wished a knew about before my travels. Annie Oakley's museum happens to be only 20 min. from where I live and evidently overlooked! The Author definitely did her homework, each description is thorough yet to the point. I received this book free through Goodreads giveaways.

This book is extraordinary, and while it DOES focus on travel (maybe this is why I love it so much?), it is a Mary Poppins bag of interesting things, waiting to be unpacked. It is, at once, a travel guide, a talk with a very funny best friend, a history class with your favorite professor, and inspiration to read, learn, and explore more. - See our interview with the author at: http://www.wanderingeducators.com/bes...

Just received it in the mail and starting reading it. Loving it so far, very interesting and I am realizing how much of this country I need to visit and learn about.

I love this book and it's little history lessons. I kept it in the bathroom for me to explore so I didn't go to it as fast and miss out on remembering something good.
