Ok, I guess I should have realized that this book also involved knitting, but I honestly thought it would be more felting than it was. Basically, it looks like every design is actually knit and felting is only used to soften the knit so it looks like a single piece. Not my jam.

And while I like some of the designs, the critters all seem a little creepy to me. The rabbit with the pink/red eyes is an albino, but it just comes across as a bit off. And of course the designs I liked the best were the tree and cactus but they involve knitting for sure so .... Having read the instructions, I have to admit that I couldn't judge if they are good or not. But I could say that they aren't as descriptive as other knitting books I have seen. And crochet. I also don't know why the patterns couldn't have been done as needle felted over core wool but oh well.

This book is infuriating.
Following patterns that are full of mistakes is very infuriating. As a newbie to amigurumi, I thought I'd start with the most simple pattern; the apple. I did the first row 10-12 times as the stitches weren't adding up. It's because the instructions are wrong. I'm now halfway through and there's another mistake. I shouldn't have to work out the expert's mistakes, especially as a newbie. It's a pity as the items/animals are really cute and could have been fun to make.

I was so glad to find this little book. I love amigurumi, but I'm not much into crochet. I love the felted look of these little creatures. I would recommend this book to inspire knitters to get started with amigurumi. It's a great way to use up those leftover wool scraps, and the results are adorable. For those new to knitting, the author includes an illustrated guide to basic knitting.
