Considering how essential fundraising is to ministry, many church leaders remain terrified of asking for or talking about money. Fearless Church Fundraising removes the terror from stewardship, urging leaders to focus on deep spiritual conversion and a clear, compelling mission before they design the pledge cards. In this rich resource part handbook, part workbook, part spiritual guidebook former monk and popular consultant Charles LaFond combines road-tested strategies and sample campaign documents with a spiritual director's sensitivity. The result is an irresistible, user-friendly text that promises to transform your ministry's fundraising and its spiritual life.
Finally worked through this book, which I "won" as a prize at a conference. Next week, I'll be with the author at another conference and didn't want to wait any longer to read it. Now, I'm wishing it had been available years ago and I'd read it then. I would have given it to members of the Stewardship/Pledge Committees of congregations I've served in the past, and it would have strengthened my resolve to more fully support stewardship according to my "gut instincts" and not just through inherited, traditional patterns.
The book starts with some good theory/theology that got me thinking, and then follows with step by step, detailed guidance that could resource a leadership team for years to come.
Certainly glad I've finally given it my attention!
The best book on stewardship I've read! Everything clergy and laity will need to teach and preach stewardship and the how to's of a successful annual campaign -- plus planned giving and capital campaigns!
Actually makes me excited to go out and funraise. A very good book for me on my vacation to rejuvenate my energies for the non-profit that I serve. Well written: 5 Kept my attention: 5 Accessible: 5 Meaningful: 5 Must Read: 3
